We are driving our own vehicle this summer, an extended cab full size pick -up truck ~ lots of room in the back for luggage and souvies :lmao: and whichever of the three kids is making us crazy at the moment, jk ;)

How is the valet service with SUV/truck sized vehicles?

I know I have trouble parking it

garada3 - you know, the largest vehicle we've had was a Montana minivan. We didn't have any trouble with the valet, but that's not an extra-long vehicle like what you are describing. I hope someone will come along that can be more helpful. :)

My sister has a Hummer and when we visit we always valet at the GF (about once a month) and she has never had any dings or scratches that she can find (trust me she checks). Of course, it is her baby and she tips well too! ;) I have seen many suburban type vehicles being driven up for guest by valet's.

I think it is pretty safe to say the valets are all to comfortable with larger vehicles, hope that helps! :)

Hi! We have a Suburban and we have never had any trouble with the valets parking it in about 12 GF stays! :goodvibes

Won't it work the same way, whichever resort it's used for? Is the DVC on a different system?

Either way, I'm hoping she'll see this and give us her opinion!:goodvibes

We are DVC members and you have to access your ressie under the DVC member site. I haven't seen any posts that anyone has used online check in yet at the GF, but I'm sure someone will soon! :goodvibes

I wonder if it is different between DVC and regular resorts with the online check in? Some thing to watch for.

uhhh i am having different thoughts i really want to stay in the RPC but 9 Nights Sugar Loaf sounds good to :guilty:

Is the walk to the Main Building the shortest from sugar loaf?

I noticed that my post about online checkin was moved to the DVC forums by Caskbill with a note about DVC only. It could be that only DVC has started the process....and perhaps only some DVC resorts at that. Who knows.:confused3 I do remember verbiage to the effect that it was going to be at only some resorts at first.

We do have a DRC reservation coming up but it happens to be at a villa. I haven't done online checkin for it yet but noticed there was a spot to do so late last week...it wasn't operational at that point.

So I guess time will tell if/when it starts at the GF.:surfweb:

yes if you look at the map at the beginning of the thread the sl building is very close to the main building

PolynesianAlex The walk from SL to the main building is not long at all...take a look at the map on page 1 of this thread...it will give you a good idea of where everything is located....the grounds are vey nicely divided and not too spread out at all....:)

Kel...Great minds think alike!!! :rotfl: We posted the same thing at almost the same time...:)

Oh, I see what you're saying, thanks! :wave2:

BCV23 - thanks for the update, did you like the process, do you think you'll do it again? I know it was for DVC, but can you tell if it will work basically the same way for all resorts?

I like to do things online, I would normally be all for anything that speeds the process; however, I worry that I won't get to have that input with the check in CM, as I usually am a little more specific about what we'd like when I'm at the front desk.

If you are not staying in the main building the Sugar Loaf is the most convenient lodge building :)

that the GF has a movie on the beach?

You are all so great and informative...I just love this thread!!!!! :hippie:

Someone did say that they were going to start the movie on the beach at the GF, not sure if that has started. Hopefully, someone who knows for sure will pop in!

Channing noticed it was being set up when we were there one night recently.
I think she took some pics of it. I will find out.
Actually I think it was set up and working the night we did the grand one.

:goodvibes Yup, they do movies on the beach! We were just there last week and stayed at the Grand Floridian for the first time and every night a movie was playing. They did roasted marshmallows at 6pm and then at 7pm the movie started. While we were there, we heard the movies High School Musical 3, Meet the Robinsons and another I can't remember! Anyhow, I saw that they offered a movie every night of the week we were there. Pretty cool. Can I just say how much I love the Grand Floridian? It's gorgeous and the only resort my hubby says he'll ever stay at! :goodvibes
