I really have enjoyed reading all the posts. My biggest concern is getting both a quiet room and one with a good view. So when I'm reading the posts, I'm looking for info on the best rooms and buildings.
Santa brought us a Disney Book...so will be getting us even more excited for Disney in February.
Happy Holidays!

Hi there, I remember perhaps in the old thread someone posting a picture of the laundry costs at GF (where you let them do the laundry). Does anyone know where I might find it or could the OP post it again? Search isn't working for me.

I'm trying to figure out a way to avoid laundry this next trip, but still conserve suitcase space. One option would be for me to bring limited jeans, and send them out for laundry, and then I would pack enough shirts/undies/socks for all days. Jeans take up the most room so this might just work, but I can't remember the cost of sending jeans out for laundry! $10 each I would consider it, more than that I think I may just do them myself.

Can't believe we're getting so close to going!!

Can anyone tell me what types of room are in the main building? We have never been to WDW and are planning on switching to GF. Have fallen in love with the photos and reviews. With our 2 little ones we are just trying to decided what location would be best to request. We have to at least try! Thanks for any help!

There are very few bad views at the GF. You don't need to be concerned at all, if you should get one of the not ideal rooms, politely ask to be moved. I have never had a noisy room either, even being close to the pool, we never heard any noise. All of the buildings have great views and everything is within a five-ten minute walk. Enjoy your stay at the Grand.:goodvibes

denisekayt - My last trip was in Oct., 07 - so the prices might have gone up a bit, I'm not sure. But I have a list from valet service, and if you have laundry done (rather than dry cleaning) these are the prices:

shirts - $5.50
pants - $6.50
socks, undershorts/panties, undershirts/bras, handkerchiefs - $2
t-shirts - $4.50
sweatsuit - $7.50
PJ's - $6
Blouses - $5.50
slips - $4.50
nightgowns - $6
tennis shorts - $5
knit shirt - $5

There is no listing for "jeans", they've always charged me the "pants" price.

HTH! :sunny:

Kaye - there is no difference in the standard rooms from one building to the next (except the view). Club level and non-club level standard rooms are alike; deluxe, honeymoon, tower rooms and suites are the only ones that are different. The main building (RPC) and Sugarloaf Key are all club level rooms. The main building has all types of rooms, although the tower rooms there are referred to as "deluxe - king" rooms, as are the honeymoon rooms on the second floor.

Here is a deluxe room in the main building, prior to the renovations:

And, here is an octagonal (tower) king room in the main building:

k&a&c'smon What nice pics...:) That deluxe room looks so spacious...I do love the old decor....

BlueSkies - Thanks! Yes, the deluxe room was very roomy, lol. Plenty of room to have a crib or scooter, or anything that takes up space, too bad there were only 3 of us swimmin' around in that room! ;)

I miss the old decor, too - it was fun, and I liked that there were several different versions.~sigh~ Oh, well, everything changes, I guess.

Thank you thank you!! That's exactly what I needed to know :thumbsup2 Even if it's gone up a bit, looks like pants should still be less than $10 if they were only $6.50 a year and a half ago.

No laundry for me this trip!!!

I've been lurking here and learning a lot - thanks!

We're going in a couple of weeks, and have booked a one-bedroom suite at GF. I know it's a code "BN" room - does anyone know if this means we'll definitely be in a certain building...and if so, which bldg?

TIA -

Emily

:cool1: 2 weeks from tomorrow and we fly out to Disney (hopefully barring no bad weather from Chicago :( )
My dh said he wanted to treat the both of us to some time in the spa :worship: so I was wondering how I can find a price list so I can see what we want to book and how much time it will take? My sister will be with us so we figure she can watch our kids for a few hours while we relax :woohoo:
Can't wait to get to disney :dance3:

Hi, BN just means "One Bedroom Outer Lodge Suite"....there are suites in all of the outer lodge buildings.

I can tell you there are two queens in the bedroom, and a queen sofa sleeper. Looks like 2 full bathrooms from my floorplan info.

Here is the official info...

BN - sleeps 6 people and is located in the outer lodge. It is one bedroom suite with 2 queen beds. There is a queen sleeper sofa and a conference table in the parlor area. There are 2 wet bars, 2 bathrooms and 2 balconies. 931 sq. ft.

Sounds nice!:goodvibes Have a great time.:wizard:

Welcome Emily!! How nice to be staying in a one bedroom suite at the GF...I dont know the answer to the room code question but I'm sure you could call central reservations and find out... I do know there are suites in the main building and in some of the outer buildings as well...the gals here know alot of GF info so maybe someone else will know the answer...:confused3

Have a great trip:)

momtoprncessj Only 2 weeks to go:woohoo: lucky you...It'll be here before you know it!! Enjoy:flower3:

Lives We seem to be posting at the same time tonight!!:rotfl: Thanks for the info ! I didnt realize that there were suites in all of the outer buildings...:)

Blueskies and Lives4Disney - thanks so much for the quick responses. Will call tomorrow to try and find out....although if in all the bldgs, they likely won't know where we'll be yet.

Have to agree...but in full disclosure this is our first trip with our almost-five-year-old (and last for some time to come...) and is courtesy of AMEX points we've been saving! :).

And while DD has many wonderful traits, one not-so-great-one is that she won't go to sleep if she can see us. (Has been that way since she was an infant, and is still the case even if she's sick - we can rock her til really drowsy, then she wants to be alone in her bed.) And since bedtime is 7:30, a suite or two rooms are a necessity when we travel. Disney won't absolutely gtee connecting rooms...so a suite it is. (Not a hardship, however :))

When we were in RPC last week, we had a tour of the Roy Disney suite on the 3rd floor. WOW! Maybe in my next life...

Hi Grand Floridians!
I'm wandering over here from the Poly thread because I'm just getting nervous about my upcoming March trip. I booked the Poly garden view, but truthfully the 70's Hawaiian/dark wood just really isn't my style. So I am thinking about the GF and have just read this thread. I had a few questions, so I was hoping you all could answer and let me know if I should make a change to my ressies.
1. Anyone have any pool pics? I saw a scant few in this thread and I'd really love to see more! The pool is one of the big reasons that I booked the Poly. I probably would have booked the Beach Club except their pool is going to be in renovations during our trip. The pool is important to us because we are coming from rainy Oregon and really want to have a great time in the pool (weather permitting). Does the pool close at night? Is there a slide (and any pics of that)? If there is a slide, is it permitted for a 5 year old to go on it? Is the pool typically overcrowded (as is claimed for the Poly pool)? We will be there during Spring Break, so that is a concern. I saw a mention that it is a zero-entry pool, any pics of that?
2. My next question is based on being a casual West Coast family. Will we feel out of place here? And is the theming too "girly"? I'll be coming to WDW with my 2 sons and hubby, and none are very into pink and flowery decor. Some of the room pics looked very floral, but they also said 'before the renovations', so I'd love to see what the room decor is like now.
3. I saw that it says in the room description that "Most rooms offer day bed"... what percent have the day bed? If requested, would I be fairly certain that I would receive one? With a 17 year old and a 5 year old, they are not going to share a bed! That day bed is a must-have for us. Thus many resorts are off our list just for that reason.

Thank you for humoring my questions. I'm trying to gather up my info quickly before the availability is gone for the Grand! I am just not sure the Poly is right for me.
