Lives4Disney is right.

Years ago, they didn't charge you for the MK view. We were able to ask for it at the CR and got it. But we did pay for a tower room.

However, in the way off season, end of January I did get an upgrade to pool view at the Poly. I just asked for a convenient room to the snack shack (don't know the real name) and the nice CM said I'm going to put you ladies in a nice pool view room :goodvibes He was a kind older gentleman and it was me, my mom and DS1 at the time (I think he was hitting on my mom:lmao:). Also it was way off season. The parks were empty.

I think it's all about timing. When you arrive and how busy the place is.

Oh and I'm all for asking. I'm a loud mouth NYer!:rotfl:

I'm not rude, I'm very polite, I just ask if they're anything available in club level, pool view, etc... You're not asking for an "upgrade" your asking what's available. It's up to you if you want to pay for it or if they're kind enough to give it to you :rotfl: I do joke with them and say things like "oh, can't you just give it to me when your manager is not looking" :rotfl:

Being polite, friendly and very chatty works wonders in WDW.

Oh and especially if you get a CM from your neck of the woods. BINGO you're golden then!! :thumbsup2

Bronx Born and Bred.....

I was just looking at another thread that asked DIS'ers to post their balcony shots. I've read all about youse guys posting photos of your stay at the GF, but I would Love to see them, especially the theme park view...Can you all direct me to a thread that has them, or the post # on this thread?
Thanks!

Just drove thru da Bronx yesterday! The new Yankee Stadium looks amazing! Can't wait for the weather to warm up to take the kids to the Bronx Zoo!

I know this is the GF thread, but I have amazing photos of the MK view from CR tower. You could see the castle from your bed by looking in the mirror on the wall in front of you and the castle was right over your right shoulder! What a way to wake up in the morning! :goodvibes

That was 7 years ago, I have no idea where those photos are! :rotfl:

Any photo BC (before children) are burried in a closet somewhere!:lmao:

A question about making ADR's. We are staying in the Sugar Loaf for Xmas. When should I send my requests to IPO? I was thinking about 1 1/2 weeks before the ADR day but just was not sure.

I then want to make sure and follow up on the 180 day mark. If I call the dining line can I give them my reservation number to have them look up and double check my ressies?

:dance3: that is me doing the happy dance!!!!!! just had to share - after an unbelievable disneymoon at RPC last December, I just booked the GF for the last 2 nights of our upcoming December trip :dance3: we will be celebrating our first anniversary AND bringing my MIL to celebrate her 80th birthday. Neither of them know so I am hoping to REALLY surprise them!! I booked us a MK view room but am still toying with upgrading to RPC - now to plan ADR's and oh yes, definitely need to rent a cabana again for the first day!! :dance3: ok, just had to share my joy!!!

Does the Grand Floridian have a business center like some hotels have with a computer, printer, etc.? I am curious because I will be wanting to check my email when I am there on vacation, yet I do not want to pay for the wifi.

I have booked for my 25 th Ann. Since I have never stayed here I was curious as to what your thoughts on a MK View room or is there something else you suggest that is better.
Thanks Roe:

15 days 377 hrs to go!

Is there a charge for the Business Center?

I just called my DH and he said that he was charged for packages he had to send out from there, but he used the computer and was not charged for that. I don't know how much work you have to get done or what kind of work!!

I hope this helps!!:goodvibes

So excited, I'm now all booked for May 2009 at the RPC :goodvibes I blame all you lovely ladies here, although I had a fantastic time last December I was going to stay elsewhere but reading your thread and seeing the GF photo thread I just had to return :rotfl:

So, I'm planning on spending quite a bit of time at the spa (it's going to be a more relaxing trip, spending time just chilling at the resort rather than full on in the parks), I've never been to the GF Spa before, can anyone tell me how far the walk is from the actual resort?

Also, if I were to have a late treatment which would mean walking in the dark, would I feel safe doing so?

Thanks

Is there a charge for the Business Center?

FeeFeeWhite, we used a computer in the Business Center (a.k.a., Grand Floridian Convention Center) a couple of years ago. We were charged something like $15 (I think) for just a couple of minutes of use. My son was attempting to on-line register for his classes and we didn't feel like lugging a laptop with us on that vacation. I remember being asked to pay in cash, which I found odd. I had cash on me so it was a simple transaction.

I don't know what the current charges are for computer usage at any of Disney's Business Centers, so please call the resort directly and ask what they are. Also ask if you can charge it to your room or if you have to pay in cash (hopefully, you can charge it).

ROEDISNEY, that view sounds good to me. I try to book it whenever possible. But, honestly, all of the views are lovely. I would decide how much time I was going to spend in my resort room and then book the appropriate view. It's up to you what view that will be. ;)

Congratulations on your upcoming anniversary. We have spent a couple of our anniversaries at the Grand Floridian and those vacations bring back very fond memories.

Just thought I'd add this info. It's posted here on the Dis (click here):

Accessing the Internet on Vacation

It's not unusual for today's vacationers to bring a laptop along for the ride. In response to this, Disney is continually updating guest computer access at the resorts.

All of the Disney resorts have High Speed Internet Access:

Price: $9.95 for 24 contiguous hours charged to the room account.
Technical support is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

Requirements: A Local Area Network (LAN) cable or in-room connection.

Computer Rentals: You can rent a computer at the Disney Resort Business Centers which are located at the resorts listed in the next section. These computers can be accessed during normal Business Center Hours. The center is to be contacted for pricing/availabilty.

Additionally, laptops can be rented. These require 24 hours notice.

ClareH37, the spa building is a short walk to the main building (less than 5 minutes). I can only answer for myself but I've walked the route at night between the spa building and the main building and have always felt safe.

I would be remiss if I didn't mention that safety should always be your concern, no matter if you're vacationing at Walt Disney World or walking through your neighborhood at home. If you feel uneasy at any time during your Disney vacation, do not hesitate to pick up the phone and contact Disney Security. Kindly ask them for an escort to your room and they will be happy to oblige. They value your safety probably just a little bit more than you do. After all, safety is their No. 1 job. ;)

Have a lovely vacation -- and have fun planning it.

Thank you Janet. Honstly we really won't be in the room that much. Whenever I am in Disney I am hardly in the room. But since this is a sepcial tirp I just wanted a sepcial room to go along with everything.
Thank you again Roe

Good Afternoon Ladies! Love the new tickers. I am still waiting to hear back about the lobby tile. I did email a few people so I hope will hear back soon.
Also remember this thread will shut down an 250 and we are almost there.
I will start a new one shortly and move over all the info from the first couple pages plus a few of us have been pulling together pics and such for the beginning as well.

Janet nice to see you here again! :)
