I don't want to try to talk anyone out of staying at the RPC that has booked. Until I saw how far out the beach is going to be expanded I didn't think it would be that bad, but views will be
impacted. Maybe someone on this thread can make a suggestion on a LV room that might be better than others. Hopefully people will be posting updates as the construction progresses.

Leaving CL at the Poly and moving to CL at the BC tomorrow for 6 nights! No more view of the GF in the morning, but I am excited to be so close to EPCOT!
I just changed to TPV this morning, just in case...can't wait for your full review when you get home. Happy, healthy new year my friend. Thank you for all the wonderful pics :cloud9:

Leaving Thursday! I cannot wait. It will be our first time staying at GF. This thread has been super helpful for this lurker :)

We're arriving the same day with similarly aged children. Maybe we'll see you!!!

Amanda
Both of us have Grand trips!!!! Safe travels!
Quick question...

We have a Outer Building - Theme Park View room booked. It's a standard size room. We'd like a bit bigger room than standard. We're with a 6 and 4 year old.

We'd like a King for us and a Queen or two beds for them. Keeping the theme park view is a MUST. Is there a larger room that can do that? Even if it's on the Club level is OK, we just want a bigger room because we're going to be there for so long (13 nights!).
I know a 2BR suite would have that...but they run $2K a night...maybe get 2 connecting rooms???and request a King for one?

WDWKOOK Maybe save RPC for after the construction :confused3

k&a&c'smomI can't think of anything better than a full house for the holidays :goodvibes

What other rooms are there that could do this for us?

There are slightly larger rooms called "deluxe" rooms. You might be able to get one with a king bed and a pull-out sofa. Or you could do a one-bedroom suite that had a king bed in the bedroom and queen-sized sleeper sofa. It's so close to your trip, though, I think your best bet is just to call Disney and see what's still available.

Pas130, I think you will be happier not taking a chance of looking at construction if you are staying at the RPC. :lovestruc It's a shame that some of the most expensive rooms at WDW are affected...however that may mean empty rooms which could lead to magical upgrades to the RPC for lucky guests! princess:

Narccoosses for dinner tonight, so more pictures coming!

Excellent upgrade and excellent advice, pas:thumbsup2

Just wanted to add that the Deluxe Rooms can only be booked by phone, so you will have to call to check availability. However, I don't believe there are any Deluxe Rooms with TPV. They have either a LV facing the Poly or a GV facing the pool and courtyard area - but don't hold me to this. I have one booked and I requested the LV.

ETA: I just checked online and the Deluxe Rooms are now bookable online! The King has a TPV, but it doesn't mention a pullout in the description.

Your speculation is probably spot on, which means I may feel even more upset when I'm not only looking out from my balcony at all the construction, but I'm also wondering if many of the guests in the lounge were upgraded for free:upsidedow

Looking forward to your photos:goodvibes

I'll be looking straight ahead...trust me. Enjoy dinner! I hope you get a great table :goodvibes

You may even be able to do a trip with just you and DH one of these days. Those RPC King rooms get discounted

JungleCruiser!:hug::hug: Looks like you're having a wonderful time in Florida! :goodvibes

We've decided to wait until 2013 for the RPC trip due to construction. :sad2:
Now, we were there in 2010 during all that outside refurb work and it was quite loud bit we managed. But DH says "no way" and it looks like BC/YC CLs for us this year.

Now, as for the OUTER building deluxe rooms, you can book those online, but they do NOT have pullout sofas any longer and they only sleep 4.
And all OUTER building deluxe rooms face the courtyard or the marina (as there are some in Sago). None are TPV or LV, only the RPC (main building).

Hope this helps with the confusion.

PSsssss.......I still have my RPC room booked. I just can't give it up yet. I know I know , but maybe DH will change his mind.:rolleyes1

:rotfl2::lmao: Seeing that she's 13 and it hasn't happened yet, she just might be 17 and in college before we travel anywhere without her:upsidedow. But I like that your RPC glass is always half full:thumbsup2

I think we'll be waiting right along with you. I, too still have the RPC reservation, but will likely be changing it within the next couple of weeks. Of course, now I don't know whether to replace it with something else or extend BWI or... If you couldn't stay at either BC or YC, what would you replace RPC with?

Oh, that's easy, it would be BWI CL or WL CL.
DH would prefer WL, no doubt.

How about the Atrium Club.....:lovestruc And hey, in 5 years you can celebrate your anniversary just you and DH at RPC  Hopefully by then, I will have actually stayed there :lmao:

All good IMO

Dinner at Narcoossees was wonderful...and we got a table by the window!

Walking to Narcoossees. The sun is just setting.

View towards the Polynesian as we waited on the deck for our table.

Haven't been to the GF for two days and the DVC beach construction is progressing. This picture is taken from the balcony/patio on the second floor by the Grand Staircase. The beach area sticking into the lagoon is new, that was the marked area I posted a couple of days ago. The new marked area is much larger and looks like the beach is going to be expanded by the pool.

AND it turned very cold here. Ducks are the only ones in the pool at 5:15 PM!

The pointsettias were taken out yesterday and new flowers planted. However, who knows what they look like, it's so cold they are covered!

Lulu'smom, so good to hear from you  I think it's great you kept your RPC room, you never know what pixie dust may come your way!:wizard:

We are really enjoying BC CL, much more than CL at the Polynesian. I LOVE  the GF but am really glad we tried the BC!

Jungle Cruiser - Love the photos! Glad you had a good dinner at Narcoossee's and are enjoying your visit to the BC CL.:goodvibes Sorry to hear it is chilly enough to warrant a blanket for the flowers, I hope the rest of your trip is warm and sunny!:sunny:

Lulu's Mom - Good luck with your RPC room! I'm having a hard time deciding on our next stay - can't believe the spring discount for the GF is less than the other deluxe resorts, with the construction.

danyella522 - :welcome: Enjoy your first visit, and definitely join in the discussion on your return.

ethanwa - I see your question has been answered, but wanted to welcome you to the thread!:goodvibes

Glad you enjoyed dinner!!! WOW even the ducks look cold:eek: Beautiful pictures!!!!!

Goofdad - Loved the video on YouTube. The music that you put with the video was right on the spot. It really captured the Disney experience! Thank you for sharing.

JungleCruiser - Great pictures of the GF. Keep them coming!

Yesterday I sent my dining requests for our July trip to the IPO. We are coming up on our 180 day mark until our trip. Gives me something to look forward to.:cool1:

My 2 year old daughter and I are going to the GF with my parents for an anniversary celebration vacation at the end of February. We've stayed there several times throughout the years, but we took advantage of the spring sale and booked a room in Sugar Loaf. We've never stayed club level before, so I'm asking for any recent pics of the lounge or any opinions on club level there. Thanks so much!

DrMomof3 - safe travels, have a Grand vacation!:goodvibes

MommyGina - Starting your summer trip planning, how fun! I hope you get everything you've requested.:thumbsup2

Goofdad - I forgot to say thanks for the link to your video. I'm just getting the last of my children back to school, so I will have more time to give it a look!

Maddiesmommi - :welcome: Congrats on returning to the GF next month, and scoring a discount! I think you will love SL. There are some recent photos of the lounge on page 1 of this thread, post #3 (taken by JoBird). Here is the link:http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2718331
