The new DVC Ferry

I totally agree that the new boats are no where near as enjoyable as the Trumbo Ferry. I loved the "old" boats....much more enjoyable and confortable. Bring them back!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We had family down and it was the first time for them and the first time for the new boats.....and what a disappointment! My family thought I was nuts since I always raved about that boat ride!!!!!!!!!!!!! Time to contact DVC about this......now that I know that I am not the only one that feels this way.:(

The new boat is paid for, at least partially, by the DD merchants- but is not run by the OKW staff at all. (It will be interesting to watch the recreation line item in the next dues statement).

Unfortunately, I doubt we'll be able to actually tell how much the new DVC Ferry will be adjusting the dues budget, since I'll bet the lifeguard and maintenance for the pool slide will also be under "Recreation" at OKW.

I don't really have a problem with the "boat" itself, just the seating. It seems as if it could hold nearly as many folks (and still be wheelchair friendly, which is a good thing), by putting wooden bench seats in rows in the back area, similar to the old style Port Orleans boats. Plain wood, if well designed, would be more comfortable than what they have now.

Is it possible that I rode the Trumbo Ferry back in June? Because, as I remember it, the design was open and set up nicely and I don't remember uncomfortable seats at all. Did they just change the boats?

The new DVC ferry was operating in early June when I was there. Did the one you rode look like the one in Doc's photo, or did it look more like the large "rental" pontoon boats?

The new boats seating have a U-shaped padded bench seat and then a center single bench seat.

Kinda sounds like the boats on the Jungle Cruise. I hope they don't use the same corny jokes. LOL

Do you know if this is a Disney company?

I think the sSc is part of Disney Transportation Company. They've been operating the PO boats for years. I suppose they could be a subcontractor though. ???

You know, they DO look a lot like the Jungle Cruise boats!
