Absolutely, but they aren't guaranteed. You need to request an MK view room with the IPO department. There are actually 2 floors, the 3rd and 4th which have a whole wing over the Gasparilla's Grille and marina. Well, technically there's also the 2nd floor, but these are all honeymoon rooms. Great castle views. We particularly love room 4404.

THANKS, TAMMI - I knew you would know!!! :thumbsup2

I’m still here in Walt Disney World and probably am at least 30 pages behind on the GF FAQ thread (you folks certainly have been busy posting over the past several weeks!). I promise that I will catch up with this thread upon my return home. I also promise that I will post photos of the room that I stayed in. I’m very sorry that I haven’t done that yet.

Just thought I’d mention that my daughter and I dined at Victoria & Albert’s this week. It was her first dining experience there and she loved it. I know a few of you had sent me messages with questions about the restaurant. I’ll share our dining experience as soon as I can (for now, let me just state that it was another wonderful meal).

I hope everyone is doing well.

Hi!
Did I read someone say that the rooms at the Grand Floridian have a CD player? I believe on the alarm clock. We have two Standard, Lagoon room views for our trip n October and my daughter loves ot hear her Disney CD's and I didn't want to pack the little portable if they had one.
Thanks,
PammyPoppins

Our room had a DVD player; you could pipe the CD sound through the TV.

Looking back at our room photos, we noticed that our room did indeed have one of those white CD player alarm clocks. We were staying in a honeymoon room, though, so I don't know if this applies to standard rooms.

Cheers!

OH MY GOOD GOLLY!!
I just called for the second time in 3 hours to try to get the general public Visa code. The first time I called the CM said it was not available for our room, but I didn't give up (I truly have Disney OCD). Anyway, I just called back and the CM put me on hold for several minutes, then came back on the line to say the code would be applied to our reservation.

I just saved us $652.50

We are staying RPC (first time main building) October 28 - November 2!

My OCD paid off this time

OH!!! How wonderful!! I have tried a couple times to get the AP rate applied to my December RPC ressie and have had NO luck. They put me on hold after they get all my info and the codes etc. I think they are doing something, but they come back and say "ok, let me see...." and then nothing. Good for you for being persistant! It gives me new hope, LOL. I put my deposit on my Disney Visa, I should have asked about that one, too, in addition to my AAA etc. :p One of em has to work!

I will cross my fingers for both of us. I just wish that darn WDW AP website wasn't so awful. It just is so unpredictable and useless because it keeps timing out and more. I hate to keep phoning as it takes FOREVER to get past all the preliminary info. I wish it could just be a QUICK call to check, but of course they need everybody's name etc. and most of the time what they already have in their system is wrong - no matter that we have been there 40 + times and I have called about 10X that and always had to correct it!!! They have my DD's name right and also wrong - Josie and Jose, LOL.(so she counts for 2 kids - and one of them a little spanish boy  ) and my sister also as a family member - she went with me ONE time in 2002!! Crazy system they have. :confused3

Good luck, though!

Yep, the alarm clock has a CD player in it. You don't have to worry about bringing yours now. :) Have a great trip!

Well, after waiting for AP rates to come out to save on our first anniversary trip, I was ecstatic to find out they were still available for the WL view we already had booked.

Then I started to check (just for fun) the GF AP rates. We loved it so much on our honeymoon  , but just didn't want to spend the money this trip. So I checked. And found garden view for 4 of our 6 nights. Called my DH. Reasoned if we wanted to split our stay, we better snap up garden view right away. He agreed. Then he called me back to say he didn't want to switch resorts, why not GF the whole stay? So I checked - LV the first 2 nights and GV the last 4 nights. And now I'm spending every day checking for GV for the whole trip, but I'm afraid at this rate we'll either be at LV or even RPC for the entire 6 nights!

We both just loved the GF so much, and I love reading this thread, if for no other reason than hearing about everyone else's love of the GF. So we've decided this is just where we stay when we go to WDW ;)

We are staying at the GF in a month and change!

I want to get something for my DH and kids to be in the room on the night we arrive. I do not want a cake, the white chocolate slipper or the chocolate cigars.

Do you think if I called private dining they could/would "customize" something for me? I was thinkinf of something with chocolate and fruit or cookies with a Disney theme of course.

Anyone have any experience with this? I'm willing to spend $100 or so.

Thanks to all!

I have been working with private dining on our 10th anniversary dinner next month. :cheer2: While it won't be in our room, we are having a chocolate fondue for our dessert as suggested by Heather with GF private dining. There will be pineapple, strawberries, etc. for dipping in the chocolate. I would definitely give them a call to see what they can do for you.

Enjoy your trip!

Happy Anniversary! :) We were given one of these Chocolate Fondue platters during our March stay. There were lots of strawberries arranged on a fancy platter with the fondue sauce in the middle. It was lovely and just delicious! I think the GF bakery/private dining does a great job with everything. I have been blown away with some of the things we have received & ordered.

Just wondering....Since you mention Heather, I know there is a Heather in IPO - just wondering if maybe that is the same Heather or just a name cooincidence. Heather in IPO was fabulous for us so I am curious.

The chocolate fondue sounds wonderful! We have had the tuxedo strawberries delivered to our room before and they were delicious! Another cute thing is the dog bones! I bet they could customize something and would definitely call Private Dining. Have a great trip!

Ok, I'm going to sound like a COMPLETE novice, but can someone clue me in on what the general public Visa code / AP rate is? Planning a trip for next year and would love to save where I can! Thanks.

Channing -

I thought you would get a kick out of this. I called last week when the AP rates came out for our RPC stay in Dec. For 10 nights, the AP rate was almost $300 more than the AAA rate I already had. I couldn't belive it!! :confused3 I suggest you stay with the AAA rate, unless something AMAZING comes out... Also, the Visa package isn't available on the concierge rooms....

Have you decided to stay RPC the whole stay, or are you still considering a split stay? Regardless, WDW can't be any better than at Christmas-time....

Just wanted to say hi and to let you know that I will be staying at the GF Sugar Loaf Concierge on tomorrow night. I cannot begin to tell you how excited I am. This is my first concierge stay. WooHoo!!

tammy,

Have fun at the GF and enjoy your stay in Sugar Loaf!!! Hope you will post a report upon your return!

Angela,
I called to apply the general public Visa code to our RPC room for Oct.28-Nov2. The first CM said it wasn't available. I called back about 3 hours later and spoke to another. I was put on hold and when he came back he said the code would be honored. We are staying concierge. Anyway we ended up saving about $650. Hope that helps...

Lives4Disney,
When I mentioned Heather, I was working from memory. I think that is the name she gave me. I will check my notes when I get home. I'm at work right now. At any rate, I called the private dining phone number and this lady (Heather :confused3 ) answered the phone. At the end of the call, she indicated that she was the private dining manager and that if I had any other questions, etc., I could call her or Courtney. She was very helpful. I will check my notes to confirm the name when I get home.
