Barb A., the rooms at GF do not have a coffee maker in them although I'm sure you can request one.
All the buildings now offer coffee in the individual lobbies in the am until I think 8am.

teentoddlermom and minnie my my, it has been a year and a half since we stayed in Sugar Loaf but at that time the offerings were as descrbed in the beginning of this thread. From other posts, it doesn't sound as if things have changed much if at all. We enjoyed the offerings but they are not as "hearty" as those in the Polynesian concierge and probably won't appeal as much to small children. Breakfast is essentially like the Polynesian except they offer some nice little pastries too. And there are flavored syrups out all day to add to coffee.

My main reason for visiting this thread was to report that this July we saw pillowtop mattresses being delivered to the GF. Don't know which building is getting them first though.

I'm looking at booking a 2 bedroom suite and there quite a few. The WDW website shows 2 bdrm suite/MK. So, which suite is this and where is it located? Does that mean I can actually reserve one with MK view or is this not correct and it's still just a request only situation? Thanks for your help!

Thanks for the site! They showed an abundance of pictures of the resort all around, but still wondering about the location of the 2 bdrm suites. I didn't see the locations listed on the site.

Gosh, it's soooo beautiful there. I just oooh and aaaahhh when looking at the photos. I only visited GF when we had dinner at Narcoossee's during our trip last June. The grounds and lobby were beautiful. After our brief encounter, I knew I was going to have to stay there. :teeth:

Here's another site someone posted (a DIS board memebr posted both sites) - maybe this will help.

if it comes through as **** then put it together to make a url:

suite disney com

Hope this helps....we are arring on Wed (had to cut it short 2 nghts due to Jeanne) for 3 nights -can hardly wait but I know I will not want to leave!!:sunny:

Thanks for replying about the Sugar Loaf concierge offerings, BCV23. I was there in August 2003, and thinking about going back next year. I only asked because I read somewhere earlier this year that they were going to be offering a more substantial menu at Sugar Loaf in the future including wine, cordials etc., and was wondering if that was true.

VAgal, I know that I've seen pictures of the MK suite which is in Sago Cay. I believe the other one with that view is in Conch Key. Either way, those are the two buildings that I would request. The GF doesn't specifiy an MK view, only Lagoon or Garden. If you have a lagoon view, it doesn't mean that you'll see the MK at all. You could have a view of the Poly and the old Discovery Island. The way the buildings are situated, if you have a lagoon view from Sago or Conch, you're most likely going to see the castle.

Teentoddlermom, I think that the reason Sugar Loaf is considered "limited concierge" is because of the lack of the dessert offering and wines and cordials. I imagine if the GF does decide to start including these in the future, you're going to see the rates go up dramatically. Right now, there's almost a $150 per night difference between the two levels of concierge. I did hear others posting back in the winter time about Sugar Loaf expanding their service, but I'd be very surprised if they did.

Today I called the GF about the Cinderella dessert, but no one knows what I am talking about! They say there is no "bakery"ext and finally put me through to the executive office. She (Bernadette) knew nothing but said she thought it might be private dining, but was not sure. She or someone, will get back to me. I told her I'd like to order it in advance because I'll not have the privacy to do so once we are there. She was very understanding - I leave Wed very early so not much time- and I'd like it delivered to the room Wed evening while we are at the Hoop-dee-doo. I thought it would be a nice surprise for my friend who lives in FL and has been through a lot recently - she also jsut celebrated a birthday.

Does anyone know what other choices there might be besides the Cinderella Shoe?

Thanks!
Christine

Christine, the CM you spoke with is wrong. The GF most definitely has a bakery department and they are more than happy to help you out with any type of cake or dessert that you'd like. If you don't hear back from anyone, just call and speak to another CM. Someone here might even know the direct phone number, but if not, you could also try to do a search.

Hi everyone

Over the weekend, our anniversary trip was up for discussion and my parents and sister will be joining us for the cruise portion then they'd fly home while DH have room only ressies at GF/SL. Well, my sister "inquired" about joining us after the cruise as well...yea...in other words...she wants to bunk w/ DH and I at GF/SL  .

We couldn't say no, it's really not a big deal, DH didn't mind...that much... ;) :teeth:

I emailed GF planning again and to see how much it would be to add her and by the end of the day, the CM Barbara emailed me back saying it would be $25 per night and that I'd have to call WDW-DISNEY to make the add her.

Does that price sound right? It was $25 to add her last year to WL, I figured it would be more per night for Concierge...

Then, I'll have to email GF planning back to ask them to update our PS's as well. By the time we get there...the planning team will be like OOOOHHHHHH...so YOU'RE the pains in the butts who've been emailing us all the time....:teeth: :teeth: :teeth:

But anyone know about the price? $25? Thanks!!! :wave2:

Queenie,

Okay, first of all, I couldn't imagine ever bunking with my sister and her DH. That is really just too weird. Secondly, you're all together on the cruise and the land portion is a special celebration for you and DH. Just say no :crowded:

As to the cost, the CM was correct, it's only an additional $25 per night if you have booked room only. If she needs to be added onto a package, then it would be more expensive. I really would suggest that you do re-think this though and by the way, does DH know?

Tammi

Hi Tammi,

:p Yeah, I know it's weird that my sis would wanna stay w/ us at GF...but it's ok. We've been to WDW w/ her before and she stayed shared a room w/ us...and it wasn't a problem. She's old enough to "get the hint" and do her own thing, and we feel bad b/c she's just finishing up w/ college so she's on a tight budget.

LOL...yea, DH knows and at first he's like "HECK NO! I want my wife to myself, get your own room girl!" But he felt bad saying that so he finally said "FINE! But you're paying your own way!"

For our trip to MNSSHP in Oct., we're going w/ his family (but we got 2 different rooms!) and I wanted to bring my little cousin and DH stood his ground and said "NO!" to that one...he wouldn't bit the bait...so darn! :teeth:

But I do feel bad, b/c I'm like stuck in the middle, DH wants to spend time alone w/ me and my sis wants to come share the WDW experience w/ us too...so it's tough. But I figured, when we have kids, it'll be the same thing...so it's ok...just practice I guess. (I mean practice as in traveling with an additonal person...not practice having kids...:p ). DH is pretty good about it. Thank goodness.

But thanks for the info and thanks for letting me vent!

PS:Tammi, I read your response to DH and he was SO happy...he said he likes your style! He "agrees" w/ ya about my sis!

minnie my my -

Tammi suggested I search this site and last night I found the telephone number to order the Slippers.

407-824-2978 1900 - 1900 Park Fare, ask for bakery

For slippers, dogs or Mickey "Dome" to be delivered in room call private dining at 407-824-2598

When I asked about ordering the Slippers they connected me to the bakery - although the GF main number did not know how to connect to the bakery, so definitely call the above number.

I ordered the Dog Bones and the Mickey Bombes. I am going with a friend, celebrating my 35th visit to WDW on site resorts and she is celebrating a big birthday. It's my "treat" and so I wanted to have something fun and nice. She is a dog lover so I chose the Dog Bones - and the Mickey Bombes for fun. They will be delivered to our room and hopefully, awaiting when we return from the Hoop-dee-Doo the first night, The young woman I spoke with was a dear and tried to figure out how we could have them in the room upon arrival, but not knowing when we our room would be ready made that impossible..and besides, if we had those first we'd not be hungry for the Hoop-Dee-Doo! I'm thinking of changing it to the next day at a specified time - then we could go back to the GF for ahwile in the afternoon from the MK and that would be neat to have them waiting.

Okay, folks, opinions, please???

Thanks!!

It's packing day! GF tomorrow!

:sunny: :sunny:
P.S> The Mickey Bombes are called Domes and are choclate cake with choc ears attached. I'll let you know how it turns out!

 I have no idea, but I saw a photo of them (somewhere on this site, try a search, I will too) and they were sooo cute!! It;s the world, with Mickey's ears - or his head and ears...whichever. Someone wrote in a description, but do not think it was for the Mickey ones. It said a Bombe was made out of ice cream flavors or sherbet.. I shoild have aske dthe bakery how rhey make theirs!

If I call to change the room delivery today I will ask about the Bombes and let everyone know.

They are REALLY CUTE!!

Christine
PS the Dog Bones come with 2, the Mickey is one - both are $14 each and can have a mesage written on the plate.

Queenie,

I totally understand, you're a good person and a great sister, but this is your anniversary. What if you planned a sisters only trip for next spring when she gets out of school? I would love to do a trip like that, with just the girls. And hey, you'd get to go to Disney again! If she is coming, at least pick one of your ps's and keep it for the just the two of you. After a family cruise and a family vacation, you'll appreciate at least one night.

Whatever you decide, you've got a good DH there.

Tammi

Queenie...my kids went to school with Matt Damon..hmmm, but don't see him much anymore...guess he's "busy"!! ;)

I understand your dilemmna - you and your DH are generous and understanding..Tammi has a good idea about a later trip (Wouldn't she understand? It probably never ocurred to her that you'd like some alone time after the family cruise, she just got excited about Disney) or at least a ps for you and DH alone?

ps whatever happened to Bret Michaels?????

   Thanks Tammi...I appreciate that...I know a Spring trip sounds good...but then I'd feel bad leavin DH alone. No biggie...it'll be fun. But I love your idea of taking one PS all to ourselves though...I didn't even think of that...now, trying to decide where to dine!

Any suggestions? GF planning suggested V&A, but I don't know...we've never been, so we're not sure how it really is.

I was thinking about ordering a mini cake, (I read about it somewhere that GF makes a mini wedding cake to celebrate your anniversary), do you guys know any more info on it? I think that'd be cute too.

THANKS again!!! :grouphug:

:::PS::: I am SO Tempted to add one more day to my ressies... We're supposed to leave Sat. (So we can pick up our baby boys - dogs - from puppy camp on Sunday...but...if we can sneak ONE more night at GF/SL...and pick up the puppies at camp on Monday..hmmmm......:scratchin :scratchin :scratchin What do you think?:teeth:

Becky,

:faint: Oh dear...yes...I know...this crush on Matt Damon is silly and "so 5th grade"...but I can't help it. That's pretty neat that you kids went to school w/ him, he seems quite down to Earth.

Hee hee...of course, I STILL enjoy being a Bret Michaels fan! :lovestruc puckerup:

DH thinks I'm ridiculous w/ all these "star crazes"...he just rolls his eyes whenever I see one of em on TV and just start giggling! :teeth: :teeth:
