we are going July 2nd -July11th
I booked us a garden view room as thats all there was but then today Sugar loaf opened up. If it was RPC I owuld JUMP at it but I am concerned cuz the less than stellat service I had in NOV. What dates are you looking for?

Kelly, I HAD RPC a deluxe room booked for July 7 thru 15 with AAA and let it go....then I rethought and rebooked it for the 8th (value season, lol) with AAA....then DD10 decided she wanted to go for her bday this year on July 1, so I booked June 30 til July 10 at BC....didn't like that too much, booked Dolphin/GF split and then wound up cancelling it all because we are now going in May. :rolleyes1 Crazy. Now I am thinking HOW are we going to make it thru the summer til Nov 16 w/out a Disney World trip?! Maybe we will sneak a little one in somewhere in late June to July.

I was thinking maybe GF at the end of our May trip- like May 24 to 26 and then we have to fly home. Just not crazy about moving hotels or 2 nts. I have SL on hold now, but as I said I am not psyched for it.

Happy planning! (PS...I loved your "mean people stink" on that other nasty thread:thumbsup2 )

some people are BRUTAL. Yeah I know what you mean about not being psyched for it. I want the level of service but am nervous that the CMs will be crappy again. I am just gonna keep checking.

I just got off the phone with DCL and I have to tell you what happened. I wanted to check to see how much it would be to add the "land" portion to our cruise, making a land/sea package. Since we are in Cat 3 (a splurge for my DH 50th Bday and our 20th Anniversary), the WDW portion of the trip would be a standard room (no concierge) at the GF. DCL told me that it would be an additional $6,800 to add the three nights land to our cruise. I laughed and said that must be a mistake, that the $6,800 was more than I had paid for the cruise itself....nope, our total for land/sea would be over $12,000, but the CM did say "well, it does include your park tickets". I had to laugh...said thank you and didn't book the land portion with DCL. I booked the land through WDW Travel, and we will be staying at the GF RPC for two nights, with park tickets, for under $2000.00 - and I had thought that was alot. I am still laughing at the $6800 land quote.

That's awful. What are they thinking??!!:scared1:

I NEVER book a package. It always seems less expensive to get a room only discount thru AAA or annual pass and buy the tickets separately. PLUS you're not as committed to anything with a room only ressie. You can cancel 6 nts out with no penalty and all you need to pay upfront is the one nt deposit.

Glad it worked out and you're happy with what you booked. :) You might want to see if you can book RPC with AAA and buy the tickets separately.

Happy travels. Sounds like fun! :goodvibes

6800 thats nuts
This is summer when we go we arent booking a package. I am doing a room and then tickets. Where do you get your tickets, do you order them from WDW or somewhere else?

I always order from WDW just before we leave.....like two nights before - so we just pick them up at will call at a park. If you stay concierge, just bring your printed out online receipt and they can have the tickets put on your room key for you and it makes it even easier...no waiting in line anywhere. They did that for us over Xmas and it worked out fine. I have an AP, and they didn't do that on room key, though. I picked it up at the MK guest services. No problems.

We'll definitely do that. By the way, the discount with AAA was a great idea. We saved a good amount of money. Thanks!

Due to DH work conflicts we have changed our trip orginally scheduled in June to July. I could only book BC for the first 5 nights and the family voted to try GF for the last 2 nights. I am really excited to try GF :yay: as we have not stayed there on any of our past vacations.

I booked a Lodge Tower Room knowing that the extra space would be welcome by the end of our vacation. I would appreciate any details, advice or information (pictures would be great as well!) you all are willing to share regarding the Lodge Tower Rooms. Thanks!

There's not a lot to say about the lodge tower rooms. You can find them in all the outer lodge buildings and they all have garden views. My suggestion would be to request Sago Cay, as those rooms would give you a view of the marina anyway. The tower rooms on the top floor don't have a balcony, so you may want to try and avoid those. Here's the floor plan:

Tammi - Thanks for the floorplan / info. Would you recommend this room category or would Magic Kingdom view or Sugar Loaf Concierge be fine as well? Have you stayed in a Lodge Tower room? Thanks, again.

Unfortunately, we're a family of 5, so we've never had an opportunity to stay in a lodge tower room. I love the layout though. If you want to take the chance, Sugar Loaf has 3 lodge tower rooms that are available by request only. There's no guarantee that you'd get one, but having that layout and the club level benefits would be perfect.

Triplefigs stayed in one of these rooms in Sugar Loaf and the sofa actually opened up for additional bedding. If the search feature works, you can try searching on her username and seeing the pictures she posted from her trip. I think they're in this thread somewhere.

So if you had the choice of upgrading to a lagoon view room or adding a day, which one would you take.

Are the deluxe concierge rooms with a king bed really the honeymoon rooms?? With the AP discount that is all that is available in RPC....."deluxe king club level". Could this deluxe king room be a turret room (or are those all considered honeymoon)? :confused3

If these deluxe kings aren't honeymoon rooms on the 2nd floor, anybody know where they are located? Basically, it's slim pickin's & I want this deluxe room, but don't want it if it means honeymoon floor.

It would be DD10 and me, so we wouldn't really care to be on the honeymoon floor, lol.

THANKS!!

I would take the extra day - we had a lagoon view last summer - it was beautiful - but there are so many places you can walk to around the resort to see the EWP and WIshes - I would take the extra time at Disney in a heartbeat!! Who knows maybe you would luck out an get an upgrade!

Just bumping this to the next page for some help. I probably need to make a decision asap.

I've had several people PM me about the Lodge Tower Rooms in SL. Yes, there are 3 of them. Only the 2nd floor and 3rd floor has a balcony. There was as of Dec 2005 a sleeper sofa in both the 2nd and 4th? floor rooms. The room numbers are 6220, 6320, 6420. They are directly over the service elevator, and you could hear it, BUT it never was loud enough to wake us up or keep us from falling asleep. We loved this room! Here are some pictures from Dec 2005.

When I pulled up availability when I was just checking online for our last trip, the only thing that kept coming up was something like "Deluxe- King -Royal Palm Concierge. After I asked my TA about it she told me it was the Honeymoon Suite!! Does it specify SL or RPC?Hope this helps!
