Can anyone tell me what type of spa treatments are available for my DD age 14 and her friend age 15. I was wondering about facials, manicures, pedicures etc. Also, are they considered adults?

Donald & Daisy Duck, I haven't been to the spa at the Grand Floridian (I'm too shy), but I know that others here on the Dis have. Hopefully, they'll share their experiences with you.

In the meantime, the following is found on the official WDW website:

I know someone here, Jenet maybe had beautiful links to Sugar Loaf Concierge..I've looked back and can't find it..Does anyone have a link..We are thinking about moving our trip dates up too Julay and staying Sugar loaf.
Here's Janet2K's link of the lounge setup and some closeups on the food offerings. StephH had a portion of her website for SugarLoaf, with pictures of the full lounge, room and views. Unfortunately, I haven't seen her here lately and the link I had isn't working.

Good morning!

I'm in need of help! It's been a couple of years since I've been to the GF and I understand there are "new views". Where are the LV rooms now and where are the "theme park" views? In other words, if I had a LV room and requested Sago or Conch, where would I most likely be placed?

Also, this is kind of a splurge trip. We've had a tough last year as we cared for my dad who passed away in Feb. In fact, we had planned an RPC trip in December including my parents but had to cancel due to his health. Our trip is planned for Oct. and it's me and DH, DD16, DS13 and my niece/goddaughter23, who helped care for my dad and is graduating from nursing school in May. The trip is a gift to her. (SHe's never been to WDW)

Anyway, DH says "book two RPC rooms" and I'm leaning toward 2 LV or MK rooms. (I love the lounge but I love the views from the front of Sago and Conch!) What to do, what to do...

Any advice?

Minniesota, I'm so sorry for your loss.:grouphug: It must have been a really rough time for all of you. What a nice thing to do for your neice.

I think everyone is still trying to figure out where exactly the new MK view rooms are located. I know we had one in January. It was on the 3rd floor of Conch Key looking directly at the MK with an clear view. Sammie has posted that MK view means unobstructed. I haven't seen many reports from people who have had a MK view.

Good luck in your decision and happy planning.

Me again. Does anyone know if there are connecting RPC rooms and if so, where are they located?

Yes, we had connecting RPC rooms on the 4th floor - they faced the castle (directly) and the marina. It was a beautiful view!

Maryr1-
Thanks for the info! I would love to score those! Do you remember what the room numbers were?

I have a question for all you GF experts: Would you rather have 2 nights in a deluxe RPC or 4 nights in a GV? We are going this August and have booked RPC for 2 ngihts. Tonight, my DH and I were talking about going earlier and I am trying to justify to myself 4 nights RPC but I mentioned to my DH that if that is too over the top, then maybe we should stay in GV. We would probably only do 2 days in the parks if we stayed for 4 nights. (Only 1 day in park if we stay for 2) Help!!! What's your thought?
(we have never stayed CL before so that is what makes the decision hard)
Thanks.:grouphug:

:wave2: Hi Minniesota, I wish I could remember for sure, but I have a feeling that our room #4404 (main building, castle view), had an interior door connecting the to another room.

Donald&Daisy Duck, could you maybe split the difference and book 3 nights in a regular concierge room or perhaps do 2 nights regular concierge and 2 nights GV? Personally, unless you really need all that extra floorspace or are splurging on a honeymoon suite, I would skip the deluxe room and go for more nights. Downgrading to a regular concierge room, might give you the option of splitting your stay and experiencing club level for at least 2 of the nights. If you do decide to do a split stay, start in the GV and plan your park days then. By the time you're ready to move to the club level, you're plans would include sticking around the resort and being able to enjoy all the amenities it offers.

Hi guys quick question, I am about to make our ressies for meals but we will be having breakfast in our room as DS is extremelllllllllllllllllly picky. I am having groceries delivered to our room. Should I just call the GF before we leave to let them know, or any other hints? Thanks a million.

s&ksmom- Have a wonderful stay! I think I'd let the GF know about the delivery (get the person's name you speak to) and then when you check in, you at least have a contact name. FWIW, my DS used to be extremely picky (he's growing out of that at 13, thank goodness) but between Gasparillas and room service, he always founf something for breakfast.

Hi Tammi:wave2: - Good to see you! Looks like I'm finally going to get back to the Grand! Still on the fence about RPC vs. MK view but we did firm up that we have 5 nights total available so one step closer to making those ressies! Needing the two rooms puts a new twist in the decision-making!
When you were in 4404, did you notice much noise from GG and the marina area?

Donald & Daisy Duck -
Tammi has given you some good advice. I've stayed at the GF 8 or 9 times, twice at RPC. All of our stays were wonderful! One thing I will say about CL is that your time at the resort feels a bit more "social" - staff recognize you, you share the lounge with a variety of guests as they come and go, other CL guests start recognizing you! There have been stays in a LV room, for example, that felt very quiet and private because we just enjoyed being together and staying "anonymous"!

Thanks for the info. One of the reasons I like eating at the resort room is that it's so wonderful I just want to spend as much time as I can!!!

Oh, I totally agree! We oftentimes pick up our breakfast at Gasparilla's the night before (fruit bowl, juice, dry cereal, milk, bagel) and store the "cold" stuff in the minifridge we always request. Wake up the next am, make coffee and take breakfast out on the verandah. Or when we feel like splurging, a call to room service! They do such a beautiful job of setting up your meal! Oh, I can't wait to be back!

Me again. Does anyone know if there are connecting RPC rooms and if so, where are they located?

Hi, I have always had the great Castle view on the 3rd and 4th floors over Gaspies and I have noticed the connecting doors - I want to say "a lot"....probably every room. :)

Donald & Daisy Duck, I think I would rather get more nights in. The GF is such a great resort. :wizard: The only real thing you'll be missing w/out concierge is the bfast and snacks & stuff and the lounge. You can enjoy the live music from the lobby of the GF. The RPC concierge CMs are great and there if you need assistance with anything, but most times we didn't make use of them. I agree with Minniesota, though, the visit is more social and the concierge CMs are great for making you feel recognized and very welcome. At Christmas they were sooooo wonderful to us & I actually felt like I was a guest in their "home". The ammenities are the same in RPC and GV rooms(unlike the other WDW deluxe resorts - you will have a minibar, robes, turndown service, etc in a GV just as in RPC) I have only stayed concierge, but for Thanksgiving I booked a GV room & I am feeling really happy about that. :goodvibes I love RPC and have stayed often, but for what you get I think the price has gotten a bit out of hand. I vote more nights. :thumbsup2 When we stay RPC, I almost feel too tied to the resort. I am looking forward to feeling more free in November!

Happy planning :)

Lives4Disney :)

Donald & Daisy Duck, another vote for more nights in a gardenview room.

Although Tammi's idea of a split stay could be fun, for me it would not be worth the hassle of moving for just a night or two. And you would be "roomless" for some hours most likely.

We'll be leaving to GF in 2 weeks!!!!!:yay: I can't believe I'm reaching the 10 days mark today!!!!

There will be 5 adults in our trip and I've requested one king bed room and one 2 queen bed room, but I don't see the king bed request on our confirmation package. Is that normal?

Which buildings are best for GV reservations? I might not put it on our reservation but might ask them for the buildings we want when we check in. Has anyone done this before?

Thanks to all you GF experts!

I know I am missing this info...I know it must be posted and I am just not finding it...but would anyone care to share special things at the GF for kids? Do they do anything special out by the pool? Anything like the cookie decorating at AKL or the artist of the day contest at the Contemporary's food and fun center?
TIA!

My kids loved the GF. Not only is the pool wonderful, water fall, slide and zero entry but the monorail goes by so to them that was a bonus. They do activities by the pool and when we were there one Halloween they had trick or treating as well as juice, cookies, scary music by the pool with two of the Disney villans.
