So if we wanted to book for NOv/Dec when's the latest that we should book (Garden Rm standard view) I know sooner than later, but how far should I go until they aren't even available? Should I book in the next month or so?

I would recommend booking as soon as possible. Rooms at the CR seem to sell out very quickly. Part of it has to do with it being a convention hotel, I'm sure. Have you checked availability for your dates online on the WDW site? That would give you a good idea on what's still left to book.

If you don't find what you want, don't give up. Rooms do open up. We wanted the tower for our September trip and there was no availability for the last two days of our trip in anything but a suite. :scared1: I checked the site daily starting in January, and finally last week a whole bunch of room types opened up and we were able to get the room we wanted.

I do think that the garden wing rooms go quickly because they're the least expensive. I noticed that none of those rooms have come available for our trip dates at all.

Yes I have checked them and they are available. Sounds good, I will book asap then. Almost able to, the savings has just begun. :) That and I need to book 2 rooms.I wish we could afford the tower rooms, but im happy none the less!!!:woohoo: :yay:

We are booked for May 29th thru June 5 with the 4/3. The reservation says MKV requested. Does that get my anywhere? We really want the view but we also want the atrium club level, it's just easy with two 12 year old boys as far as breakfast. What do you guys think?

The Magic Kingdom View is not available on the Atrium Club floor when making a reservation for the 4/3 deal, even if the actual view was available during your vacation dates. You can only reserve the Atrium Club - Bay Lake View when booking the 4/3 deal and I mentioned this back on post #3698.

So what does the MKV requested mean? If there is a MKV will I get it? Or is it just Disney being nice and I'm going to have a view of the bay?

And is the view more important than the club level? I know that is probably a personal choice but i'm asking what anyone thinks.

Well my guess is if you booked the 4/3 deal for the Atrium Club that means you already have a reservation for the Bay Lake View, because like I said before the Magic Kingdom View on the Atrium Club floor with the 4/3 deal can not be booked. However my guess is they also put down a request for to the Magic Kingdom View just incase one became available at the last minute, so it would be a room upgrade.

Although if the Magic Kingdom View is that important to you maybe you should look into getting the 4/3 deal with the Magic Kingdom View on a regular floor that is not Club Level or making a Magic Kingdom View room only reservation.

That may not necessarily be true. We always stay CL MKV at the CR, this year (first time ever after 15 years at the CR) we received a 40% discount code. When I called to apply it they originally had problems and couldn't understand why so they asked if they could call me back. They called back and told me that CRO couldn't apply the discount to a CL MKV room but they had called the CR and got the room released. In this case it took a very helpful CM and the wonderful staff at the CR but we were able to book it. If you really have your heart set on a MKV, I'd give IPO or CRO a call and see what if anything they can do. :)

Honestly it's not a big deal, however in your situation they obviously waived it since you said they called the Contemporary and got you the Magic Kingdom View on the 12th floor. So the reality is the Atrium Club - Magic Kingdom View is not available on any discount and etc. Although I will say that was a great thing CRO did for you because that is going above and beyond their jobs, since they could have easily said sorry you can't use the 40% off code.

I'm not a usual poster, but this statement is flat out wrong. When I booked our 4/3 deal for April I had the choice of garden wing, tower mk view, tower bay lake view, standard atrium cl (which is a gamble of a view of bay lake or mk) or atrium cl mk view. We opted for the regular tower mk view since we are on the deluxe dining plan. In fact, two weeks ago there was an atrium cl mk view available again. I was soooooo close to booking it, but DH talked me out of it again. They only release a certain amount of rooms so more than likely that allotted room is already sold out for the week that CR for life is going. If you really want that room keep calling and checking to see if someone cancels.

I was just stating what the Cast Member from CRO told my dad, so don't shoot the messenger.

I'm with Mich Mouse on this mission: Is the main pool open today?

from my vantage point up here in cleveland, i'm going to go out on a limb and guess "no". from the information posted a couple of days back, sounds like best case scenario is later this week. i'll be crossing my fingers for everyone staying at the contemporary over the next couple of weeks....

but i'm with russell & mich mouse on this one - i'd love to hear/see an update....

Thanks. The rumor over the weekend was that it is filled with water, but the construction fence was still up.

We arrive on March 29, surely will be done by then (and yes, I will stop calling you Shirley!!) Here's hoping it's open even now!!!!!!

I'm so mad!!! When we made the reservation the CM promised we had a Garden wing-garden view.

I read my reservation today again and it says garden wing-standard view!!!!!!

I called and we have been charged for a standard view and it didn't say garden view and I had asked specifically not to have parking lots or anything.

Anyone got a picture of what a standard view is??

Honestly, I'd not be that upset.

There are upsides to the "standard view".

1. They are closer to the Tower than the "garden views", usually, since there are less of them, you won't be at the VERY end of the wing building, all the way out by the water.

2. Although you can sometimes see the parking lot, if you get a first floor room, there is LOTS of bushes, trees, etc. blocking the view of the actual lot, so you'll likely have mostly a "garden view" anyway. If you have a 2nd or 3rd floor room, you get to see the monorail go by!

3. The standard view is about $50 cheaper per night than the "garden view". When you're talking about the wing, the truth is, it's a huge waste of money to upgrade to the "garden view" from the standard view. If you're not going to stay in the tower, you're best off financially booking the cheapest possible room category, which is the standard view in the wing. Your chances of an upgrade to the garden view are pretty high as well, as they tend to overbook the standard view, so you'll pay the least, and possibly end up with the view you wanted anyway.

But it's not what I asked for. It's not what I was promised, what I was sold on.

It's disapointing!

You didn't mention if you looked into changing to a garden view. Is one still available? It might cost a bit more, but if you have your heart set on it, the best way to ensure it is to pay for it rather than hoping for an upgrade.

I know how frustrating and disappointing it is to get mistaken or downright wrong/untrue info from CRO. It's happened to us more times over the years than I can count. It's terrible when we as customers have to be more informed than the people that actually work there in order to get what we want!
