Quick question...... My family and I will be staying at CR this summer! :cool1: (A dream come true for my hubby and I.) We have ADRs for HDR and would like to take the boat over. How much time should we leave to get ourselves over there? (We have the early seating at HDR.) Also, do you need to be a guest at the CR to take the boat? My sister and her family will be joining us, but they are staying at ASMo. Thanks so much!!

Anyone can take the boat to Fort Wilderness so no problems for your sister and her family. If I were to guess I would say allow yourselves 30 minutes or more, because I think the boat will 1st stop at the Wilderness Lodge.

I would leave at least a good 45 minutes maybe more... but it all depends on when the boat comes, how crowded it is and even weather. but at least 45 minutes to an hour would be what i would do

Ok, I'm just trying to make sure I have this correct in my head. From CR you can take the monorail to TTC (it will stop at GF and Poly)and then take another monorail line to Epcot or MK:confused3 Or you can take a boat from CR to WL and AKL or do you go to TTC to take the boat:confused: Thanks

Once you leave on the Monorail it will stop at the TTC, Polynesian, Grand Floridian and Magic Kingdom. You are correct that when going to Epcot you exit at the TTC and walk over to the Epcot Monorail. They also have boats which travel at the Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. If you want to visit the Animal Kingdom Lodge just walk over to the Magic Kingdom bus station and get on the bus which goes there.

Does anyone know when Chef Mickey's Express is supposed to open? We are heading back in early June and would like to know if this option would be available to us to grab a quick lunch.

I apologize if this has been answered in this thread already, I can't seem to get the search function to work. :confused3

Thanks in advance!

It's scheduled to open in mid-August.

The date that has been posted for their opening is August 14, so let's hope that is true.

Thanks, CR Resort Fan and spacace510 for the info on the boat! I'll make sure we leave in plenty of time!! Can't wait!

We just received our itinerary today and I was wondering if I should fill it out.
I made our dining list out and was prepared to call myself in 2 weeks.
There are a couple of other things that we would like to plan too.
How reliable is the CR? We don't have too many ADR's should I just call dining and make the other plans myself?
We stayed at the GF last Dec. and well let's just say it didn't go too well :confused3

I haven't the slightest clue about them planning your ADR's and whatever else... but for me at least, I enjoy calling that stuff in myself. I think it kinda adds to the Magic pixiedust: and that way I know things get done. Good Luck with whatever you choose!

In the past without us contacting them the Contemporary IPO once called us about a week or to before we were to arrive at the Contemporary asking if there was anything we needed. Now that has not happened on our past few stays, although we did not use the IPO because we always tell our requests to the Cast Members who work on the Atrium Club and they have always come threw with them. Plus since we don't make any ADR's that is one reason why. Finally since you mentioned having problems with the Grand Floridian IPO, well they are the same ones who handle everything for the Contemporary Club Level guests. So just thought you should know that.

We used them recently and CRF4L is right, they are the same people that do the GF. We've had varied results, depending on which CM was responding. One CM kept confusing our spring trip to the CR with our fall trip to the GF. We had better luck with the staff at the CR once we checked in at the hotel but they weren't always able to get same-day reservations, even at places like the Rose & Crown for lunch. If you want reservations at any of the hard-to-get places (like Cinderella's Royal Table, Chef Mickey's, etc.) you should probably make those ressies in advance whether you do that yourself or through IPO.

Thanks everyone! I think I'll make my ressies myself. I was already to do it that way anyway. I agree that it is part of the magic, I love doing the whole countdown thing to 180 days and getting up early to make my calls!
I think I just got a little excited and thought for a moment that I should give the IPO another try, I still find the whole concierge concept really exciting..lol

KRBQ - That is basically the same problem we had. We were booked at the GF in Dec. 07 and the Poly in Aug.07. Whenever we tried to make a ressie or something they would tell us that we couldn't book because our trip was in Aug. at the Poly. It took them forever to realize that we had 2 trips booked.

You're welcome and good luck making your ADR's.

new to the thread...subscribing.

I've stayed at the Beach Club and loved it so I need a little convincing on why I should stay at the Contemporary in November instead. Here are my positives and negatives from the BC

Pros:
location, short walk to Epcot
stormalong bay...best pool area i have ever seen
beaches and cream
short walk to the boardwalk

Cons:
Rooms are in need of upgrades
house keeping wasn't great

Here are some pros why you should try the Contemporary.

Closest Resort to the Magic Kingdom.
Monorail access.
Walkway to the Magic Kingdom.
Tower Magic Kingdom view.
The only Resort with computers in each guest room that offers 100% free internet access.
1st stop on the Resort Monorail line when leaving the Magic Kingdom.
1st Resort to be picked up and dropped of by Disney Transport Buses, since they share with the Polynesian and Grand Floridian.
California Grill, Chef Mickey's, The Wave which is to open June 7th and Chef
Mickey's Express which will hopefully open on August 14th.
Renovated rooms.

Some cons maybe their lack of a theme which is what others say and the construction of the Bay Lake Towers where North Garden Wing use to be. When it comes to their theme if people think that well it's their opinion so can't change it. As for the construction that has no effect no matter what type of room you select.
