The new Disney ship

we were on a magic on 3/6 and our cruise director rachel said that there is no other ship and that there is no plans for it for now

but something simillar? Maybe an adventure type island...rock walls. dog sleds...something themed after the Swiss Family Robinson Tree House...who knows...but other than the amazing service....and I'm playing devils advocate here...why go on just DCL when there is nothing other than the same ports that every other ship goes to? Its kind of like going to the Magic Kingdom...you expect to see the castle...thats what magic is all about isnt it? Castaway Cay is the same for the cruise ship, yes?

LIKE I SAID! I'm playing devils advocate and this is definatly not my view point...I love disney...and my poor BF knows it! *LOL* just trying to see the whole picture...one of the BIGGEST pulls for the cruise line now is Castaway Cay, and the service and etc...BF has already informed me that he wont step foot onto another ship unless it is owned by DCL...and for what its worth...BF isnt the type to take vacations...or relax for that matter-or even spend the money to relax!...so our money is pretty well monopolized when it comes to vacationing...

I hope I explained this well....

PS when we were on this ship in Feb. they said there was a new ship in plans..called the Disney Rumor! *LOL*

The only way we get to cruise DCL at the moment is by spending around $1000 per person flying to Florida first from the UK (we have to go in school holidays so th flights are premium priced) so a DCL Mediteranean Cruise would be fantastic!

I KNOW it is al Rumours, rumours rumours (or in US speak Rumors rumors rumors!) but I can stil dream!!

i have been on the phone with DCL and they say there is plans for 2 ships its cheaper. the new ship designs are going to be 2-3 decks taller. the plans are done and the ships are ready but the euro is still too low. but if my family in CALIF see disney people at the long beach terminal then something is up. the old DCL director is now incharge of west coast operations. hmmmmm why would that be? june 17 is disneyland's 50th Bday. hmmmmmm they is no word if the ships are being started but if and when is does you will hear about it. just need to find out the what other names DCL uses. i know they do. just dont know what they are.

It always amazes me how nothing is mentioned at the shareholder meetings about funding/building new ships, yet the CM's on the Wonder and Magic seem to know the inside scoop.

Also heard rumours from other GUESTS on the 6th March cruise about new ships, but these rumours have been circulating since we first cruised with Disney in 2001. Still no sign of new ships yet!

IF any cast members had any secret information, they certainly wouldnt risk losing their jobs by divulging it to guests!

We will all just have to wait............. and hope!Nat

Why would any cast member (including the captain)have "information" that would not be divulged at shareholders meetings and the like, particularly in a publicly traded corporation? Major initiatives, like commiting to spend $500+ million on a new ship will will not escape Wall Street for more than a second. The rank and file employees are not "need to know" and I expect preliminary plans would not be exposed to them, before they are decided by Disney executive staff. That is just not how corporations are run.

Like I said, if a contract with a shipyard to build the next ship were signed, it would be public knowledge within the hour of signing.

All Disney has announced is they have a concept for their next ships, nothing more. Until Disney makes an announcement, all we can do is speculate, dream, rumormonger, etc.

I've been looking at plans for an alaskan trip...I've got some brochures from other companies...when I told BF about the plans I was making he said not to bother...he doesnt want to do anything until the new disney ships are out! and he was pretty straight forward about it...I think my jaw dropped! I've heard him say things like this before...but I know that he has always wanted to do an alaskan cruise...so we will wait! and travel DCL's itineraries until the new ship comes into port!

I wish we were all around when the rumor that Disney was building it's own ship rather than having the "Big Red Boat" days.
Bet that was flying fast and furious!!!

Just want something other than Eastern and Western itineraries for the Magic!!!
