Maybe this has been addressed before, if so please forgive me...

I read that Disney acquired the Carousel Inn this past April...
Has any recent visitors noticed any changes? I have read recent Trip Advisor reviews and they mention nothing different...
Anybody know if they offer any Disney perks??

Thanks in advance,:hippie:

Lori -- I was intrigued as soon as I read that Disney had purchased the Carousel. In reading some online speculation, some folks seem to think that Disney is not going to do anything with the Carousel -- at least not for a few years. They seem to think that Disney bought the property as a strategic move of some sort, and that -- at most -- it could eventually be razed for some sort of expansion of some kind (more parking; a new walkway or bridge, etc.).

Sherry-
Thank You for your response.
I thought that would be the case..... its a shame, I would like to see a more economic Disney owned hotel in Anaheim.
I could afford the Paradise Pier, but its hard to pull the trigger on $2500.00 for 5 nights... and that's off season dates, and no view!

Thank You,

Carousel seems like a strategic buy for DLR. It connects to the Pumba parking lot, it would allow for DL to control the location of any street car (Anaheim has proposed one) and I could see DL building a nice "moderate" property over any other proposed ground level use.

Basically, I don't see DL as doing anything as simple as bulldozing the building for parking or a walkway.

I was interested too! And I randomly received a survey via email from DL on Friday. It was ALL about hotels. Where have I stayed, why did I stay there, etc. Also went through 12 pages of room configurations along with hotel category, distance to the parks, amenities, paid or free parking, and prices for the rooms. It was long survey and took me about an hour to complete. Thought the timing was interesting. They even mentioned a "new" Disneyland hotel in the survey as an option. I would LOVE to know what they are thinking of doing with that property!

Wow...that's really interesting!

I received this survey too and it DID take a long time to complete! It really covered every scenario and price point.

Are you quoting $2500 for 2 rooms? I usually see the paradise pier cheapest rooms going for $250-$290 during offpeak times, pre- any discount promotion going on, which would be less than $2500 for 5 nights.

I am also really curious about this move. It is a very strategic location for a lot of reasons. I vote for new disney hotel. They see how much profit they make off of charging $300+ per night for such small rooms in the other hotels, so another one is probably a no brainer.

Sorry, I was quoting a package through Get Away today. That includes 2 (4) day Hopper tickets.....

I received this email too. Why caught my eye was the question about priority access to fast passes. Not to throw more fuel on that fire... just thought it was interesting, along with the new Disney hotel.

I just received the survey today. It didn't mention anything about FP's.
In one portion of hotel options/choices, it had included "Extended Hours" as a perk.
It was long and took awhile to get through.
The part with "New" Disney Hotel sparked my interest.
Coincidence?

I got the same survey, just completed it. All about hotels and a potential "New" Disneyland hotel with access to DL not DCA.

I just received it, too, today, and completed it. Even though it took a long time, it was actually really interesting in the way that it forced me think about what features I *really* care about. I'm pretty sure that price point and *theming* were the most important to me after walkability. (I don't mind walking 15 mins, but would rather not be so far away that I'd have to take a shuttle.)

I took a similar, if not the same, survey June 1 and besides asking about my opinion on a new Disney hotel, it asked about Front of the Line FP as a perk . I am guessing that would be something like what Universal has where you can jump to the front of the line for rides. That would be great.

On one of the disunplugged podcasts the team had talked about rumours that the new hotel would be placed in the area by downtown disney and the disneyland hotel. This would make sense because I believe that area is close enough to DL that it could warrant its own entrance.

As I understand nothing has really changed and it is just being run by the same management. I am sure they have a longterm plan but I dont expect anything to change for the next few years.

The rates are actually lower..... You can stay 4 nights, and get a discount, for as low as $104.00 a night, plus tax and parking.
Parking is hefty at $14.00 a night.

Thanks all for your replies!

Interesting about the priority fastpasses! Mine did not mention that, but did want to know if I was interested in extended hours. And I agree with the PP about having to really *think* about which options were the most important to me. I would say distance and cost were my first two priorities. Exciting to hear a lot of other people got the survey too!

And interesting that the rates are lower Lori! I never really looked at the Carousel because I know the parking is super tight there and I don't like my car getting crammed in. But $104 across the street is a pretty good deal, even with the parking fee. =)

My mom sent me a text last night because she had gotten the same survey. She also got questions (and actual price quotes) for a new hotel with direct access to Disneyland. She decided to google and came across some speculation that they could move operations out near the Pumba lot and expand into the area they are currently in.
