We loved this resort too. In fact, we had planned on staying at Caribbean Beach in May, but I think I am changing to CSR.

We were there once......May '01.
And are returning in April!!
I love this resort........but still want more info:)

I booked CS on Friday. After thinking it over, I think I would really enjoy CS more than CBR. I really liked the theming and the landscape. Since there are only 3 adults going I think we will enjoy a little bit more grown up atmosphere, but not losing the Disney Magic. I can't wait!!!:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

I'm so happy that so many of you have switched to or considered Coronado Springs :)

Now on with the info

Pools and Recreation

The main area for recreation at CSR is of course the Dig Site

In the center of the Dig Site is the Lost City of Ciabola Pool, the largest pool after Stormalong Bay on Disney Property.

The pool has a pyramid waterfall feature and a slide. There is also a small childrens splash pool area and the largest hot tub on Disney Property.

Within this complex there is also a playground, arcade, beach volleyball court and a bar/snack bar. As well as a nature trail.

If you feel like a more peaceful swimming experience, each of the sections (Casitas, Cabanas & Ranchos) have their own quiet pools.

There are also boats and bikes available for rent at La Marina beside El Centro.

Coronado Springs also offers a scenic pathway around Lago Dorado, which is great for walking or jogging.

Any other questions pertaining to pools and recreation? If so please feel free to post them here and someone will answer it as soon as possible.

TinkerBelle_325,
Any idea how warm the pools are? I'll be at CSR the first week of March and I wonder if the pools are heated enough to make swimming comfortable when temps are in the 70s.

I don't know what temp the pools are heated to, but they are heated. In 70 degree weather you should be fine. The 22 person seat spa is heated to 104 degrees.

Not sure of the actual temps they are heated to but I have stayed at CSR in March a few times and was able to swim comfortably. Plus the hot tub is great for when you get out of the pool and feel a bit chilly ;)

Have a great trip :earsgirl:

P.S I just got off the phone with CRO and I finalized our CSR ressie for Aug 2003!!!!

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hehe  sorry got a bit overexcited there ;)

:smooth: Florida here I come!!!.......in 190 days.......:p

With regard to the 10% charge at the Pepper Market, it's worth noting that immediately outside the doors of the market are a bunch of umbrella tables (you can see the doors at the top of the stairs in the pic below.) You can avoid the surcharge by walking about ten feet out the door to eat at these tables.

On our trip this past August, we always got our breakfast inside and ate it outside, because the tables overlook the lagoon. And, as you can see, our daughter loved the "visitors" that also joined us! (No worries, we weren't feeding them table food - there was a machine nearby to buy bird food from.)

We stayed in the Cabanas last time that we were at CS. Is there really a noise level difference between the 1st and 2nd floors? I am thinking about requesting a 1st floor room, but I am not sure yet until I get some input from you guys.

Thanks

With a 1st floor room you will have more people walking by(getting to their rooms or just strolling through the resort on the way to the Pepper Market or Dig Site) I was in a first floor Casita and did notice more of a noise level than on the higher floors because of all the people walking by to get to El Centro.

epcotfan......I tried to look at the pictures on your site and kept getting "page cannot be found" message.

I've been to your site before and have been able to see them before.....is there a problem now? or maybe just a server thing at the moment.
What building in Casistas did you stay in?
We are hoping to be close to the quiet pool and bus stop....which building is closest.....3 or 4?

Just IMHO....we stayed in Cabanas in May '01 and I thought it was too much like CBR.
We really want to stay in Casistas, and if not....we would just rather be at CBR.

Hi,
Sorry about the problems with the site. The menu links should be fixed now. I stayed in Casita #1. It would be my first choice if I were to stay in the Casitas again. It was convenient to El Centro and bus stop #1. If you want to be close to the quiet pool, laundry and bus Stop #2 I would suggest Casita #4.

I have 3 kids...3, 6, and 13. I'm looking for moderate for our last two nights. I thought I had decided on CBR, but I want to check into CS a little more thoroughly before making up my mind. My kids love to swim and play outdoors. Any info on comparing the pools would be appreciated, also.

Thanks,
Pam

pstepka,
The Dig Site is the themed pool area at Coronado Springs. This area has a large pool with a waterfall (down the front of the pyramid), water slide, children's playground, fountain kiddie pool, volleyball court, 22 person jacuzzi, indoor arcade, & Siesta's Bar & Grill for fast food and drinks. You can see pictures on my site. The Dig Site pool is larger than the one at CBR and the slide is longer and faster.

Hey pstepka! :)

Personally, having been to both resorts, I like the pool at CBR but I LOVE the pool at CSR! It is amazing! The slide is lots of fun, the playground would be great for your younger children and the best thing......it's HUGE!

In comparison, the CBR pool is smaller and not as kid friendly IMO, it has many obstructed views and it gets pretty deep, 6 feet I believe at certain sections, whereas CSR is 5 feet at max depth.

Speaking from a safety perspective both are great, but the layout of CSR is better. There aren't really any obstructions of view so even if your kids are in the pool, you, or one of the 2 or 3 lifeguards will be able to see them at all times ( I'm a certified Lifeguard so I always look at a pool differently and I think that CSR lends itself better to vision in regards to being able to see almost anywhere in the pool from anywhere around the pool.

Either way you'll have a great time......

psstt.....Go with CSR ;)

cindyfan...exactly what we were thinking! We tried CBR and although we liked it we want something different and love the look of CS pool. Unfortuantely the Cabanas are the most conveniently located but also remind us of CBR :D .

We love the Ranchos but I think the walk to El Centro may be too far with 4 kids.

Anyone know how far of a walk it is to The Dig Site from the Casitas? which Casita is most centrally located to both the Dig Site and El Centro? How far is Casita 1 to the Dig Site? Thanks for any help!

Casita 1 to the Dig Site (via the shortcut bridge from the Cabanas) took me 6 minutes (timed it from video I took) Casita 1 is your best bet for proximity to El Centro and the Dig Site. Be forewarned that even though you request Casita 1 you may not get it since the Casitas are used for conventions. I faxed a request asking to be as close as possible to El Centro and luckily got it-but then again it was off season.

Thanks Epcotfan! When I called to book my room CRO said that all of the standard rooms were taken and I had to book a water view. I was wondering if that ment they were having a convention that week (first week of June). Also, I hope that doesn't mean CSR will be excluded from codes or AP rates as there are already no standard rooms left??:D

The pool area at CSR is awesome. My DD loves it. She would be just as happy spending the day there as in the parks. It's all good at CSR.
