tell me about the internal transportation system...
CSR offers an internal shuttle system to help guests get around the resort. There are stops at the back entrance to El Centro and scattered through the villages. A sign will mark the stop. You can also flag down a cart if there is room. It is not a perfect system, but at least it is offered. Only resort to offer such a service.

I'm not sure about DDP to pay for room service. I would assume no. CSR is the only mod to offer a full menu room service. It's offered from 77am to 11pm. The menu can be seen at http://www.allearsnet.com/menu/menu_csr.htm

Buzz- your information has been SOOOO helpful! Thanks (I'm going to mention it when we check in.) I've been lurking here forever and this is my first post. You had so much info we didn't need to! We booked CSR back in Oct. and we'll be there on April 15-21. But now, I'm wondering if we get there early and the room isn't ready, is there a locker room for changing near the main pool? My DD 11 and DS 2.5 will want to swim once they see it!

Thanks!! We'll be there from 4/11 to 4/19. Look for us by the pool. My DD is 12 turning 13 during our trip. Her first ever stay was at CSR when she was 4 turning 5, how time flies.

my $.02 on the subject... be sure to pack your swimsuits in your carry-on, esp if you are using DME... my worst nightmare is arriving at a resort and not having swimsuits due to late or lost luggage... we actually have ds travel wearing swimming trunks as shorts (one less thing to carry!) :sunny:

BUZZ!! :wizard:
you outdid yourself w/answers to my queries... i love the internal transport... i'm thinking CSR is the place for us this trip!!

may i ask your input on another situation... when we stay at pop or pofq we've always booked two rooms for our (very large, space-hog) family of four... because it will be a short trip (5 nights compared to our last sept trip of 11 nights) i'm considering paying for a rollaway instead of a second room... whattya think as far as space goes? is there *really* room for a rollaway and still room to walk around, or do i suck it up and go for the second room? imo sleep is as important as good comfy shoes!

There are changing rooms near the pool but you need a room key to enter. Just tell a CM by the pool your situation. I also recommend packing suits in carry ons. Lifejackets and towels are poolside.

There is room for a roll-a-way, they cost $15.00 per night or you can get a twin air matress for much less. The air matress fits between the wall and bed durin the day. As far as sleeping, you can move the table and 2 chairs to the side of the armiour closest to the bathroom opening up room on the floor by the door. Either option, there is room.

cool, thanks!! i'm really trying to make this a "budget" trip (since the free dining is costing me the cost of the trip! LOL! we were not planning to go again this year, but, well, free dining are magic words in our house! LOL!) so one room would work!

yet another question... i know CSR surrounds a lake... is there fishing in the lake and can you rent poles? also, are there any fishing "excursions" from the marina there, or just boat rentals?

thanks again :)

They have everything.

The CAPTAINS PLAN is $125 for four hours of self drive boat rentals.
The FAMILY PLAN is $239 and gives up to 5 resort guests the use of self drive boats for 10 consecutive days.

These plans would both be purchased at the resort marina.

I'm just curious, are the shuttle stops only set up at certain times of the year, like when it is very hot?

I'm asking because I was at CSR March 12th - 19th and I never saw the shuttle stops even though I walked all the way around the resort several times. I even stopped once at the front desk and asked about the shuttle stops. The CM who helped me didn't know anything about designated shuttle stops. She told me just to wave the shuttle driver down when I wanted a ride.

The weather was very pleasant while we were there so we were happy to walk and never tried waving a shuttle down. On one occasion, the driver stopped and asked if we wanted a ride, so we hopped on. This was the only time during our trip we rode the shuttle.

We are going there in Sept/Oct. because my dtr. is not 3 yet we can still stay there with 5 people. She does sleep in a bed at home not a pack and play so I'm wondering should I request this roll-a-way or air mattress? Does the resort have air mattresses or can/do I bring one with us and just leave it up against the wall during the day? I never knew about this last year?

They started sometime around the beginning of last year. They were in use in April 2005 and we will be there next week so I will verify.

I'm not sure if having a child under the age of 3 counts in a resort that only holds five. You may want to post your question in a new thread.

ME, DH, DD(4) & DS(1) are staying at CSR 8/27-8/31. We think we narrowed down our section "request" to Casitas 4. It seems to be close enough to the food and playground. Will it be overrun with conventioners if one is going on? I know they may be in meetings during the day, but, I'm sure they hang out at the resort at night. I just keep picturing a bunch of men in suits sitting around smoking cigars while I'm trying to enjoy the sights of the hotel after a day at the parks. I don't like the look of the Cabanas, especially after we just stayed at CBR in January. I love how the Ranchos look but they are just too far from El Centro for me. We stayed in Trinidad South at CBR, the walk to the food with 2 small kids was awful.

I like casita 3, 4 or 5. The convention guests don't get just the casita rooms, they could be anywhere throughout the resort. Rancho 7b is another great option. Close to bus stop 4, the main pool and you can use the internal shuttle to get to and from the main building. You shuldn't have a problem. I've only read what you describe happening once at CSR.

Hi a friend of mine wanted me to ask about the optional smoking rooms. They don't smoke in their rooms because their son has asthma but her husband likes to step out in the morning and smoke outside of the room. Would he be able to do this in some buildings and not others??

Thanks for the help on this one.

The only smoking optional building is cabana 9a. Those rooms wouldn't work for your DS because they smell of smoke (not all but why take the chance).

If you are in one of the other buildings, there are plenty of places to step out and smoke. Ashtrays are located at by elevators.

Thanks so much, I'll pass this info along to my friend. They are really looking forward to CSR, mainly from your pic's !!!

We just returned from our third trip to CSR this year and wanted to let people know how great the shuttle service is. It runs continuously all day in a clock-wise direction. According to the driver, there are no stops that are marked -- all you need to do is flag them down as they come past and they will pick you up. During busier times of the year they will add a shuttle going in the other direction. The trip, all the way around the lake, takes about 9 minutes. This is the first time we've been far enough out that I felt like using it and it was truly a time saver (as well as a foot saver after a long day in the park). Hope you all have fun.

AlwaysEeyore...I agree with you, I prefer the look of the Casita's, and the courtyard area etc. DH wants to request cabanas for the location, but we did not enjoy our CBR visit 2 years ago, and I , too, would rather not be reminded of the same thing. DH wants to be close to the Dig Site for the pool, but I think that will be used less by us than the food court. I am trying to figure out the refil mug thing there tho...my kids are so used to just going to the machines in reg food courts...do you have to have a CM from PM fill them for you? My kids will most likely never ask...too shy.. :confused3
Anyway, I guess the kids will be the decision makers for the request...and just see what we end up with...Ranchos is our last choice also.
