Let me preface this by saying WE LOVED CSR!

We arrived 12/15...midday, and our room was ready. The hotel was not at all crowded despite the Salsa Championships. I actually spoke with one of the dancers, and she was very nice. We stayed in room 8220 in Cabanas 8A. This is not a building I requested, however, I would absolutely stay there again. It was always quiet, and my fiance and I remarked everyday how we never heard anyone.

We were extremely close to Bus stop 4, and only a short walk to El Centro. We had an upper floor room, on the corner. I had only asked for a limited view, but had this one from our room:

Transportation was wonderful, we never waited for any buses for more then 15 minutes, and they were never crowded. I think we got a seat each time we rode. We also loved the fact that the theme park bus stop was always the closest to the entrance. Our tired little feet REALLY appreciated it!

We only ate at Pepper Market one afternoon. It was alright...it wasn't crowded, but my fajitas took FOREVER. And, the guy was kinda rude when he gave me my food. Other then that, I can't really comment on the hotel food. Oh...except for the gelato from the little cafe next to Panchitos. It was excellent!

The pool was great (The Dig Site), we rode the water slide, and used the jacuzzi. Both were great.

The Concierge service was wonderful. They helped a lot with tickets, and last minute dining ressies, as well as easing my fears by telling me that the buses would start running early for my 8am ADR. The front desk told me the opposite, and said I would have to take a taxi. My only other complaint was our first day with mousekeeping. We got back at almost 4:30p, and our room was still not cleaned. I just called the front desk who said they would send someone, and my fiance and I went to the pool. When we got back it was all cleaned.

My overall rating of CSR was that it was AMAZING. My finace (who is pretty picky), loved the place. He kept telling me that I did a good job picking it out. He reiterated that we would be staying there again.
Thanks Buzz for all the words of wisdom!
It's my favorite too! Thanks for sharing!!

We stayed at CSR Dec 5-9 after staying 4 nights at AKL.

Check-in was a breeze since we arrived early. Right after checking out of AKL we grabbed a cab and got to CSR about 10am. Beautiful lobby! Gorgeous!

I had previously requested Casitas or Cabanas and we ended up in the Ranchos section...:confused3 We didn't feel like changing the room because the one they offered was ready. We walked over to 7A and realized we were pretty much the furthest room from El Centro...wow what a walk that was!

Transportation was wonderful. Busses were about every 5-10 minutes and we never had to stand when leaving from the resort. Although, the walk to the bus stop was a little far, but not too bad.

Mousekeeping was something.... ....the day after we checked in we were leaving for a park and I noticed something under the bed by the door. I bent down and picked it up and it was a "wrapper" of some sorts for the male gender....if you get what I'm hinting too. :scared1: DH was not pleased at all and called housekeeping immediately to have our beds stripped and new sheets and bedspreads. I had a hard time sleeping that night wondering if they really did that request. Another incidence was we left a tip envelope for the maid and none of the days did she pick it up. Not sure if she/he can read English, but we changed spots everyday to make sure they would see it and to no avail did they pick it up. Guess it saved us some money...:rolleyes1
The Dig Site was great! Big pool, wonderful water slide. Before we left I saw that the waterslide was to be closed, but it was open the whole 5 days we were there.

We ate at Pepper Market a few times for lunch and we loved it. Great selection and they give you sooooo much food. We left stuffed everytime. Rix opened up a day we were there and the inside looked great even though we never had a drink or grabbed food.

I was looking forward to the little lizards...or whatever they are...but there weren't too many. :sad1: Them things are so cute! I know I'm probably the only one who thinks so, but I was looking forward to them after we stayed at CBR last time and they were everywhere!

Well overall great stay....Would I stay again?....Absolutely....Although, I think I'm going to check out other resorts before coming back to this one. Definitely would give a thumbs up. Just watch out for the housekeeping....
Welcome back! Thanks for sharing!!

Is there anymore info on room refurb at CSR for 2008? Also I read somewhere can't remember which thread that there were to be changes to the Pepper Market as well?? I would like to stay at CSR in 2008 but worried if all this construction is going on how it would affect our stay??

Not yet, I'm hoping to learn more on my Feb trip!

We will be at CSR in March and I looked today and it still looks like none of the places at CSR are on the dining plan. So far CSR has been our favorite resort and last time we stayed the eating spots were on the DDP. We like to eat breakfast before we head to the parks.

Does anyone know if they are on the DDP for 2008? Thanks.

CSR is on the 2008 DDP. You are not looking in the correct place. Even the new Rix Cafe is participating.

Thanks Buzz! I looked on the Dis and could not find this information, that's what I wanted to hear:banana: .

We have never stayed at CSR but did visit it during our last trip to the world. DH is STILL waiting to hear if he can go on a business trip there next mth. :worship: In the meantime I have booked our room, set up TS meals and finally w/ a DING...our SW airline tickets!!! Figure if the trip doesn't get approved, we'll use the funds to travel in the fall when we usually go.

I have been reading this thread (up to pg 19) and am just SO excited to be staying here...well, if we can! I haven't said anything to the kids jic the trip falls through. But I can't wait to spring it on them!!!! I usually do a 30 day count down calendar. I think I may wait and just do a 10 day countdown this time. Just enough time for them to gather trading pins and get really excited! But the wait is killing me! LOL

OK, finally, my questions:
Can the refillable mugs be refilled at Siesta's pool bar? Or anyplace onsite in addition to the PM?

In Feb, Blizzard Beach will be closed. I've read someplace that it is w/in walking distance of this resort via walking paths. True? Can you please tell me how far? We'd like to be able to play minigolf. Am I correct to assume the minigolf will be open even though the water park is closed?

I'm a little confused at the start of the thread re: the bus stop order. Does "theme park bus" refer to a bus returning to the resort FROM a Themepark? And "exit" bus refer to a bus arriving at the resort to pick up guests? Does that mean if you're standing at say stop #3 in Ranchos and a bus comes from MK and unloads...you don't get on?

Finally, do you know if they sell Sunny D at LaTienda or Panchitos?

Thanks so much for the info'n!:goodvibes I sure hope we get to go! I'll be so bummed.

No, there are instructions at each bus stop regarding the procedure. It's just to help guests get to the main building from the ranchos.

When we were there three weeks ago they only had the larger size of the refillable mugs.

Thanks for the quick reply!!! Don't suppose you have a picture of one of those bus signs do you? You have so many other helpful photographs!:goodvibes

I really hope we get to experience CS!!!! Your unofficial website and insightful comments here certainly helped to persuade us!

No but I plan on getting one in Feb.

Buzz! Question about the mugs? We leave on th 22nd. Do you recommend getting the mugs? Can we only fill them at the resort or the parks also? We are staying form Tues to Sat. Is that long enought to get our moneys worth? we are soda drinkers, including DS 7yrs. We could get 2 and share between the 3 of us? I am a diet drinker and DS and DH are Drpepper. Thanks, :yay:

Can anyone tell me if microwaves are available in a standard room at CSR? I'm not seeing it on anywhere, but according to expedia, they are available on request. I can't afford a suite, but my friend traveling with me has her heart set on a fridge and microwave in the room. I've booked a room-only at CBR because I couldn't get a suite at the ASMu, and I was thinking of picking up a small microwave at Walmart. But then what do I do when I leave? (can't take it on the plane!) So if I could get one at CSR I could certainly try to change my ressie....does anyone have any info on this? Thanks so much for any help you can give me.

You can only fill them at the resort. As far as being worth it, for what they charge for coffee/soda I think so because we use them everyday for coffee in the morning and sodas throughout the day, especially if its a hang by the pool day.

They are available but on a first come first serve basis at the resort. You have to request it at check in.
