The *NEW* Coronado Springs FAQ Thread (Part II)

I just got back from a week long stay at the Coronado Springs Resort and it was fantastic!!!!
We had booked the night prior to our arrival so we could have our room ready when we arrived at 9 am (plus it gave us extra meal credits for the ddp so we could do 2 signature dinners).
I had requested 8A in the Cabanas but when I got there my request had not been honored. All I did is make a little boo-boo face and they started trying to accomodate us! (I hadn't even realized I made the face!) Since we really wanted to check into our room immediately - I didn't care where they put us. After the CM and his Manager looked at a computer - speaking softly - they told us they would upgrade us to a waterview in the Casitas and we could have access to the room now! YEAH!!!
Okay so we were in Casitas 4 room 4226. 2nd floor overlooking the quiet pool which is also right at the fitness center and the salon. We were a short walk to the main pool to our left and a short-ish walk to El Centro to our right. We had a very short walk to Bus stop #2 (which is a great bus stop because it is 'usually' the first stop).
Everybody was very friendly!
They have carts that take you around the hotel if you want. Great idea! We got on it once just because my son wanted to try it out! My only complaint about that is they seem to be speed demons! You and your family are walking quietly and W H O O S H - these carts went zipping by you. We were always shouting "kids, get out of the way"
Every morning I would take my mugs and head to La Tienda to pick up coffee, milk and fruit (plus I brought cereal from home).
We ate at the Pepper Market twice (one breakfast and one lunch) - not confusing at all and good food (we liked the lunch better).
We did not make it to the Maya Grill because we had already booked all of our dinner reservations at the parks! (All great except CRT for dinner - yuk)

All in all we had a great time!
I would be happy to answer any questions!!
Welcome back!!

I would like a king bed room for Dh and I kind of close to the main pool and El Centro --- where do I request to stay?
Here are some good building choices.

Cabana 9b is close to bus stop 1 and the main building with a short walk to the Dig Site (main pool) over the wooden bridge. (Most convenient location and most preferred

Cabana 8a is close to the Dig Site (and playground) and bus stop 4 with a short walk to the main building. (Closest to the Pool)

Cabana 8b and 9a are in between the 2 above. 9a has a quiet pool (and is the old smoking optional building).

Ranchos 7b has a quiet pool, is close to the Dig Site and bus stop 4 with a bit longer walk to the main building. 7b is behind cabana 8a.

Casita 3 has great courtyard and fountain views but you will have to walk or ride the internal shuttle to get to the pool.

Casita 5 has some nice fountain and lake views and is close to the Dig Site but farther from the main building. Close to bus stop #2.

I have an opinion question for all of you. I've been lurking and reading CSR trip reports for a short January trip. Just me the kids (DH can't go). They know we are going to WDW just not when. It will be their first stay on-site.

DS has made CSR his top choice because of the Dig site. I think the resort looks beautiful and the fact that you're seated in the Pepper Market is a plus. (The 10% is well worth it when your DS is on the Austim spectrum and searching forever through a crowd for a table can set the tone for the whole day.)

We'll be spending a lot of our time in the MK and taking breaks in the afternoon. Will CSR be a poor choice due to the commute time? Also, is the size of the resort that intimidating? Can I compare the walk to CBR?

Any help is appreciated.

It's a 10 min bus ride from CSR to MK. CSR surrounds a 15 acre lake while CBR surrounds a 45 acre lake. The difference at CSR is that the main building which houses the food court is located in the front of the resort and the pool is in the middle. I would request a cabana building.

We stayed at CSR in April and loved it. My son (who turned 5 on our trip) also has a form of Autism and he had a great time walking around the lake, playing in the pool, playing in the sand area, helping pick out his food in the Pepper Market, etc. We stayed in the Casitas and that was great too - he loves to push the elevator button (we were on the 3rd floor), it's close to El Centro, and we were near the first bus stop so we always got a seat, which really makes a difference with him (gives him a defined space rather than standing and being at loose ends). We brought along decorations for our the outside of the room door and windows so he could walk along the "hallway" and always find our room - it really worked out well all the way around. :goodvibes

When we stayed at CSR for a week in June 07 we took a mid day break for rest/swimming. Not only was the bus trip a reasonable jaunt from the main parks, they were empty. Gotta love it that some CSR guests are attending conventions and therefore not crowding the buses. There were several trips where we had the bus to ourselves.

Also, loved the Pepper Market. That said, we were on DDP, so YMMV.

Enjoy your trip !

Buses start about an hour before the earliest dining reservation for the character breakfasts.

Thank you...when I was making my ADR's on the phone last night, I was trying to book and ADR at the Crystal Palace with Pooh and friends for 8am....the CM told me that unless I have a car, I couldn't do it because the buses only start to run 45 min before the park opens!

I was almost positive that Disney would NEVER let ONLY guests with cars to make early ADR's.

Thanks Buzz!:yay:

I just read this in the Allears
"The Jaguar Slide at Coronado Springs Resort's Dig Site will be
closed on November 26. Only the slide will be closed; the pool
will remain open."

What a bummer because this is the day before we get in. I worry that there will be NO SLIDE action for our trip!

Anyone know how long they keep the slides closed when they do shut them down?
What a bummer indeed...the kids were looking forward to that more than anything!

We will be staying at CSR for the first time this Thanksgiving, and am curious which bus stop gets picked up FIRST? I thought I read somewhere that bus stop 1 was not actually the first pickup? Is this true? Also which bus stop is the first to be dropped off?

Thanks in advance

According to Buzz, on page 1, reply 7 of this thread (almost sounds Biblical!)

DtD and Exit buses

We stayed in the Casitas in April and it was really nice being the first stop - always got a seat. Sometimes when the bus got over to the Cabanas and El Centro (the last stop on the way out) it was almost full already.

Correct!

Thanks for the heads up. I hope it opens during your stay.

I have read that cabanas is the prime location but with that being the last stop (or second to last stop) for the buses, is it hard to get a seat?...or is it better to go with Casistas so that you are first on?

Not at all. None of the stops get too bad because the resorts convention guests don't use the buses during the day since they are busy at work.

I wonder if they mean it's just closed for the day? They usually give some kind of range. :confused3
