The *NEW* Coronado Springs FAQ Thread (Part II)

Just a note of interest...After our "bad experience" at The Maya Grill (which you told about in your first post on the Dining Plan thread) we were told by several CMs at CSR that The Maya Grill is no longer run by Disney-it is now run by an outside firm. Just thought that was of interest.

Thanks for the info, do you mind posting on my thread? If you can't I'll do it later, thanks again. :thumbsup2

Anyway, I wanted to make it clear that the CSR is a beautiful resort and no one should be discouraged about staying there. If you happen to experience bad service at "The Maya Grill" or any other restaurant, the best thing to do is report it.

I agree. Bad service at a restaurant at a resort should not discourage someone staying there. I am looking forward to my trip at CSR in 25 days. When I return I will be posting how my stay was.

I've seen some TERRIBLE reviews of restaurants we just loved and rave reviews for our least favorite restaurant. So I would take it all with a grain of salt. I'm not sure the ratings sway me at all, actually? Sometimes you just have to try something for yourself, but that being said, I didn't make any ADR for Maya Grill...still

I agree with this statement 100%. Just because someone doesn't like a ride, a restaurant or even a resort, doesn't mean the next person will feel the same way. Everyone is different and has different tolerances.

I'm just trying to figure out who runs what at CSR....
Pepper Market-outsourced
Maya Grill- sounds like outsourced
Francisco's-? (currently closed)

As far as I can tell, only the Pool bar is run by Disney. What is the benefit to Disney to cede control of (it seems) all of the food service at CSR?

I'll be very curious to compare/contrast CSR with other Disney CS and TS. Will be there for a few days-conference, and then move to another resort.

The PM and MG and been outsourced for some time now. Francisco's is under rehab and will reopen in Oct under WDW control as is the new Laguna Lounge outside on the promenade. Siestas is also still Disney. CSR will have 3 lounges come October.

My theory with reviews is to take all of them with the understanding that everyone has a different opinion. However, when I start reading reviews that are consistently negative then I would use them to make my plans. You can't go by food as everyone likes something different but the service reviews are the ones I'm talking about. Bad reviews on service, one after the other, suggest a problem. A bad review here and there suggest an off day for either the staff or customer.

Mermaid86, thanks for posting those gorgeous pictures! I wanted to know what your experiences were staying at the Ranchos. Was it too secluded? Did you find it easy enough to get to the food court and main pool? Did you use the internal transportation or walk everywhere?

My pleasure! Ranchos were perfect for us. (it was me and DBF) We were close to a bus stop. It wasnt too secluded... there is a quiet pool right outside 7B, so there are definitly people around, but when walking out to the shuttles and whatnot, we rarely ran into people, which was good because the bus stops wernt crowded. As far as walking to other areas of the resort, the hike to the main lobby and Pepper Market/Maya Grill/ store is a walk. Not a huge deal, but if its the end of the day, you get off at station 1 (by El Centro) and have to walk to the ranchos, it can be a pain. The upside is, the Dig Site (main pool) is really really close. There was one time that a girl stopped on her little tram car and asked if we wanted a ride, but other than that we would always walk everywhere. It didnt seem like they were big on the internal transportation.. we never saw them around much. But overall... my experience there was absolutly fantastic and I plan on booking our next vacation at Coronado Springs, and would be completly happy and content if we were put back in the ranchos :goodvibes

Does anyone have pictures of the beverage station, toaster, etc at the Pepper Market? Or other Pepper Market pics in general? I thought I saw some on here once but I can't find them.

Thanks!

We are leaving in 3 weeks and I was wondering if you would be so kind as to give me the directions for Air Cond. override. I couldn't find them on your official website, but I'm sure they are there. Thanks so much!

On the thermostat, push the power button and the down arrow (button that adjusts the temp) at the exact same time. If you do this correctly, you will see the letters "bp" where the temp normally shows. You are now bypassing the sensors in the room. You can then set the temp to whatever you want and it keeps the room that cold whether you are in it or not. The maintenance man said that you might have to do this once a day as the thermostat tends to go back to sensor mode after 24 hours. We found that it stayed on bypass for a couple of days at a time. It was great to come back to a cold room or not wake up in the middle of the night in a sweat again. The CM that did this for us said it was not a problem doing this as they do it for people all the time.
