Yes, there are many tables out on the patio overlooking the lake.

I am assuming this is new!? They didn't have these when we were there last September...

This thread makes me more and more sad that we have to move after just 2 days @ CSR.

They are new! One of the DIS'ers that just returned from CSR posted this picture. They may have been put out there to go with the new lounge that is located outside.

Great! This should be a prefect place to relax in the early morning with breakfast or late evenings with a snack. Ahhhh only 36 more days :dance3:

I can't stand it! 48 more days until 1st trip to CSR!! :cool1:  :yay: I look at photos & just wish away the rest of the summer!! ;) Love this thread! Everyone who's going soon, have a great trip!

Hello everyone, I'm not sure if this has been addressed yet, so sorry if it has.

Has anyone gone to the Maya grill lately? Has the food changed?
The reason I ask is because I was reading "The Unofficial Guide to WDW 2007" and the Maya grill recieved: 1 star overall, 2 stars for service and 2 stars for friendliness. The lowest rated restaurant in WDW!

It states that they have backed off from their "Nuevo Latino" concept in order to suit the resort's convention crowd. They say there's still a few hints of Latin American food but that "steak seems to be the safest thing to order here." It also goes on to say that the food and settings are ordinary and that: "The quality doesn't come close to matching the prices, so you're better off eating somewhere else."

I've been told to take reviews with a grain of salt but it still worries me that it would get the lowest rating of all. I'm concened because, out of all the moderates, the CSR would be my first choice. I know all you guys love this resort and are very knowledgeable about all it's aspects. If someone has been there lately could you please post, good or bad, I'd really like to know how the food and service was. Thanks in advance. :)

I was there the first week of June. The service was not good. After sitting and waiting for a waiter/waitress to come to our table for 10 minutes at least, I had to get up and chase down a hostess and ask her to get someone. Then it took forever to get our food and never got asked for a refill on our drinks. They were not busy at the time, and it was only myself and my DS7 at our table, so I can't see there was any excuse for the poor service. PLus I observed our waitress extensively chatting with other tables while we sat and waited a very long time for our food and for refills that never were offered. The food was good (I had salmon), but the service was so poor I would not go back. That being said I still recommend CSR overall. We had a lovely stay, and the resort is beautiful. We ate at Pepper Market several times. We enjoyed it a lot. But for a nice, sit down dinner, there are much better places than Maya Grill.

We only eaten he breakfast buffet at the Maya Grill and it was great. Best deal for a buffet on WDW property.

They stop the Nuevo Latino cuisine awhile ago. But they do retain some of the flair in the appetizers and desserts. The margaritas are great too! I've read many reviews that the service is slow but that the food is always good. Not sure why it's like that. Seems to be folks on the DDP get worse service than paying guests.

I would agree with a prior poster. We were there last fall. The service was aboslutely horrible. The waiter was only marginally friendly, extremely slow and would disappear for large stretches of time. Our food, however, was very good. It was one of the better meals of the trip.

We recently had Breakfast at The Maya Grill. The food was hot, fresh & yummy and the atmosphere was wonderful. However, the service was terrible. The place was empty with our server only having two other tables besides us. He started off as the perfect server. Yet as he walked away, he turned and asked if we were on the Dining Plan. After we said yes, he smiled and walked away. That was the last time he ever came to our table although he was standing close by at the server station during most of our meal. He asked the table right next to us the same question yet they said "No, we are not on the dining plan." Man, I kid you not-they were treated like Royalty while we never got refills on juice or coffee and our dirty dishes were never removed and still piled up when we left. :sad2: We have been on the DDP 3 years in a row. I never thought people were treated differently on the DDP-until now. :sad2:

I had no idea this was going on? I think I'm going to start a new thread to see if this has been happening at all WDW resorts. Any more stories about the Maya Grill please let me know, Thanks. :)

That is terrible. I am rethinking my dinner reservation at the Maya Grill, which I was anyway since I heard service was slow. Slow service and being treated differently because you are on the DDP is not a good way to start off our vacation. I hoped you complained about the service. If not I would still complain and state the facts that you saw.

I just wanted to make sure to note that although we had a bad experience with the waiter at MG, Coronado Springs is a fabulous resort and we are very much looking forward to the next time we stay there! :thumbsup2

Thanks for the reviews. I am still tweaking my plans for our trip. I have a feeling the family will just want to get up an go and not sit down in a restaurant to eat. I have a feeling we will be eating at the Pepper Market for a quick bite then off to the parks.

Our trip is for the last two weeks of this Aug. The first week we'll be at CSR. We'll be using the buses ALOT and I (like most parents) prefer when my kids can sit when on our way to or from the parks instead of having to stand on the buses. I know that the #2 bus stop at the Casitas is the first stop to pick up guests going around the circle. By the time the bus gets to the Cabanas stop #4 or even El Centro, is the bus usually full by that time (especially mornings getting to the parks)??? Thanks for any advice!!

It depends on the guests at the resort. If you have more convention folks than regular guests, the buses are usually not crowded because the convention folks have meetings during the day.

I've been to CSR in April, May, June, October and November. In my nine trips, all but two were in the cabanas were we only used stop 1 or 4. I can count on 1 hand the amount of times I had stand because the bus was too crowded and never had to wait for a second bus. You should be fine.

The new thread I started under "Disney Dinning Plan" titled "Poor service because of the DDP?" has really opened my eyes. It seems like a lot of people are getting poor service, in all disney resorts. Hopefully, Disney will change these issues soon, they can start by raising their employee wages.

Anyway, I wanted to make it clear that the CSR is a beautiful resort and no one should be discouraged about staying there. If you happen to experience bad service at "The Maya Grill" or any other restaurant, the best thing to do is report it.

I start these threads with the hopes that Disney monitors them (which I know they do) in order to provoke positive changes, that's all. I hope that who ever is going soon has a wonderful, memorable trip and that they don't forget to keep in touch. TTFN :)

Just a note of interest...After our "bad experience" at The Maya Grill (which you told about in your first post on the Dining Plan thread) we were told by several CMs at CSR that The Maya Grill is no longer run by Disney-it is now run by an outside firm. Just thought that was of interest.
