Well, I am in with the July 4 crowd. The wife and I will be at CSR from July 1-6. I booked it about a month ago and only found this thread 2 days ago. I have read every post in this thread() and there is so much great info here. Thanks to Mario and all the others for sharing all the knowledge. I am so geeked and ready to go. This will be my wife's first Disney experience and my second. My first trip was around 1983 when I was 5, so this might as well be my first. I sure am treating it like my first and am going to soak it all up. Have great vacations everyone!!

My family will also be at CSR July 1st-6th

Rooms appear to be "opening up" at CSR during the free DDP offer!!! I just changed dates to 8/31 to 9/4 and booked a king at CSR!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, so happy!!!

I can't wait to return to CSR :goodvibes I've booked Free Dining for Sept 2nd - 9th. This will be my 2nd year in a row staying at CSR for Free Dining. Last year, I went with my lifelong friend Winnie and had a blast. This year I will be going with my best friend Belle_373, who is just as obsessed with Disney as I am. She is a Coronado first timer! :cool1: I can't wait to see her reaction to the resort. She keeps looking at pictures and telling me she cannot get over how beautiful everything is. So when I get back, I'll have my report (having stayed 9 times at CSR) and her report as a first timer!

We have requested Casitas 1 or 3, preferably 2nd or 3rd floor, facing the courtyard nearest El Centro (the one with the little covered path).

I'm so excited.

I'm not sure if this question has been asked, but with the few threads on the generic refillable mugs, does anyone know whether or not CSR has them or will be getting them?

Thanks!

Hi, we've already booked July 1-4 @ AKL, and were considering booking the last 4 days of our trip at CSR but are hesitant to do so because of two conventions (Karate & Broadway) that are going to be at the same time. We're both 20, so we certainly don't mind a lot of noise, but we're both aware of the ruckus that our teammates and we make when away with our respective teams. How far away is the convention centers from the normal rooms, and do you think we'll have a lot of problems with these two going on at the same time?

The conventions usually hep because they are off doing their convention activities. They help keep the pool and buses less crowded. In my nine trips, I've never run into an issue with convention or regular guests as far as noise or disruptions go.

Hi
I'm thinking of ordering my DH a birthday cake while we're here in December.
Has anyone done this at CS and how good are the cakes? What kind do they have? I'd like to surprise him with this. Thanks!!:)

Regarding conventions, I sort of had a problem with one last Fall. There was a jewelry outfit which came in the Sunday after Labor Day. They were young, and drinking A LOT. They really trashed El Centro on Sunday evening, and were noisy outside as well. There drinking everywhere in El Centro, not just the lounge but the halls, the check-in area, the bathrooms, the gift shop, etc.

Also the Pepper Market the next day was a zoo because of them. 25-30 minute lines for everything. The convention should have catered lunch, but didn't.

However if you are 20 and like to drink with strangers it might have been fun.

CSR has their own bakery on site. I never order a cake but I do know the dessert cakes at the Pepper Market are great!

Hi, All

I have booked CSR for the first time this Sept. (FREE DINING, YAY!) I have a couple of questions, if anyone can answer:

I notice on the website it is showing the options of standard view and water view. I thought I read about preferred rooms, but don't see that option on the website. Are the waterview rooms the same as the preferred rooms, or if not what is the difference? Is it worth the extra money to book a waterview room? If I want to request a particular village, would it be best to request Cabanas to increase my chance of getting something convenient to the Dig site and el Centro? Thanks for the info.!

CSR offers water views, they are not considered preferred. From what I have read on the boards here, it is not worth it. Who knows what kind of water you will be viewing, perhaps just a pool.
We "upgraded" to a King, so we KNOW that is what we will get. (its an additional $15 for water/King)
Also, we are requesting the Cabana section, I have also read that most rooms in this section have great viewss. My rule of thumb, if you dont have a patio/balcony, why pay for a view?
We are requesting 8a, close to the Dig Site and bus stop 4..I dont mind walking:)
So we are there 8/31 to 9/4:)
Thanks to Buzz....I knew all this info! I cant take all the credit:)

Actually read great reviews at allears! We would like to stay on property one evening and take advantage of the fact there is a TS restaurant!!
Do you think I would need ADR's for a Saturday night?
Thanks!:goodvibes

I was in Cabanas 9B. Loved it. I was told that I was upgraded to water view at no extra charge. But as I got to looking around at that section, pretty much all of the rooms were water view of some sort. And my water view was really lame. I really faced a nice little garden area with the water being quite a distance beyond that. I agree, I wouldn't spend the extra for the water views.

Just back after spending Easter Week at CSR!

Thanks to Buzz I knew what to expect at CSR and am happy to report that everything was wonderful. Very friendly staff, rooms were clean, Pepper Market was excellent etc.

We stayed at CSR because of CM discount so it wasn't my choice originally but I have to say that everything was wonderful. We stayed in Casitas 5 and didn't find it that long a walk to El Centro and the bus stop was a hop, skip and jump away. It was also nice to go back to a quiet hotel in the evenings atfer spending all day in the crazy parks. I can only imagine what Allstars and POP were like Easter Week...well I saw their busses compared to ours and it was a huge difference in people!

We hadn't put in a view request and ended up looking out over the parking lot which wasn't bad. If you looked up in the sky you could see the Swan and Dolphin in the distance.

Once I get my pictures off the camera I'm going to try to post some. We took quite a few of the room and the outside of Casitas.

Thanks Buzz and everyone on this thread for all the help before I went.

I only wish I had more time to spend at the resort. We only had 6 days so we didn't spend much time walking around.

I just made ADR's over the weekend for August and had no problem getting an ADR. I would make one just in case a convention is going on. I read some where that someone saw it was really busy there one night due to a convention and they were turning people away. I also decided to eat there due to the good reviews I heard and I liked the kids menu due the the different choices.

Glad you had a great trip. Looking forward to seeing your pictures of Casita #5. I am thinking about adding that section to my room request. I have the Cabana section requested already (8A and 9B), but I think I like the look of the Casita section. I know it really doesn't matter since the inside is all the same almost. Looking at the map it looks like the bus stop you need to cross the parking lot. Is that the case?
