Thank you Mario, for all of this wonderful info. and all the pics.

We are heading to CSR on Wednesday.

I had not requested a building. I will call tomorrow to make a request....
do you think I'll have any luck.

Also, I haven't been able to read every single post in this thread, but I did find a post from several months ago regarding WiFi in certain areas of the resort.

Is there no WiFi in the rooms?? :confused3

There is high speed internet in the rooms but not wifi. Wifi is only available in certain common locations.

Hello,

I thought I had posted this already but I couldn't find my post, let alone the answer lol.

Can you purchase skim milk in the stores at CSR?

thanks

and a huge thank-you for all the assistance this thread has given me in my planning!

I booked for 2 weeks in June and wanted to know if the refigerator had a tiny freezer? Thanks

I just called to see which building I will be in for my March 21st vacation and they said they can't tell me? And that I can't request? Is this true and where should I request to be? Which locations have the nicest rooms? Thanks!

They can't tell you but you can make a request for a building location.

Here are some good choices...

Cabana 9b is close to bus stop 1 and the main building with a short walk to the Dig Site (main pool) over the wooden bridge. Most convenient location and most preferred.

Cabana 8a is close to the Dig Site (and playground) and bus stop 4 with a short walk to the main building. (Closest to the Pool)

Cabana 8b and 9a are in between the 2 above. 9a has a quiet pool and is also a smoking optional building.

Ranchos 7b has a quiet pool, is close to the Dig Site and bus stop 4 with a bit longer walk to the main building. 7b is behind cabana 8a.

Casita 3 has great courtyard and fountain views but you will have to walk or ride the internal shuttle to get to the pool.

Casita 5 has some nice fountain and lake views and is close to the Dig Site but farther from the main building.

Not sure if they do or not

My good friend is bringing her familt to WDW for the first time. She wants to stay at a moderate. Her kids are 4 and 7. Do you guys have any suggestions on which section to choose at this resort? Is this a good resort for a 4 and 7 year old kids?

For most regular families I would recommend a place near the big pool. It's a very nice pool and slide and there is a playground right there too. If you expect to be at Pepper Market every day (or twice a day) then you might want to be closer to the main hacienda, but remember you can drive to Pepper Market too, and we did drive there a number of times.

Do I have to pay for a cot? or should I just bring the aerobed
Room will be me, DH & two teen boys who refuse to even think about touching each others feet at night.

If I have to pay I will just bring an aero bed.

Also, I see Pepper Market closes at 11:00 pm. The flight does not get into 9:40 pm. Where can I get something to eat once we arrive at hotel which may or may not be by 11:00 pm

On DP

Yes, the cot cost $16.71 per night. I'm not sure that you'll have any options at the resort unless LaTienda is open later than 11pm. They sell prepackaged sandwiches and other items.

Thanks for all the great info. We are planning on staying at CSR either May or June, we have stayed at the CBR before and would like to try CSR. I was wondering what the walking distance is like. When we stayed at CBR we have always stayed in Jamica, and had to walk to the food cort and main swiming pool and bus stop. Do you know of a comparison. We did not mind the walk for CBR. Just trying to wonder what to expect. Thanks

Where can I find prices for the suites particularly the Jr. suites.
CSR has 3 types of suites and they are costly. Jr suite, VIP suite and an executive suite. All the suites are located in the casitas with the exception of 2 jr suites located in the cabanas, one in 8b and one in 9b. The double bed jr suite would fit six because the wall unit in the second room is a murphy bed. Jr suite is two rooms together, the VIP is 3 regular rooms together, and the executive is 5 rooms together.

* The resort has about 30 junior suites, which are basically two connecting standard rooms. The bedroom includes either one king bed or two double beds and the second room is set up as a living room with a sleeper sofa or Murphy (Sico) bed. There are two bathrooms. Junior suites have an occupancy of 4 or 6 people and cost more than 2 standard rooms.

* There are also 10 "VIP" one-bedroom suites. These are equivalent in space to 3 standard rooms knocked together. There is a standard bedroom with one king bed or two double beds, plus a full bath. The living room is equivalent in size to two standard rooms and includes two seating areas, a wet bar with small refrigerator, a full bathroom and a dining table for four people. It has either a sleeper sofa or a Murphy (Sico) bed, bringing the occupancy to 4 or 6 people. The VIP suites are set up primarily for entertaining and are generally used by senior managers staying at the resort for conventions. VIP suites are priced at more than 4 times the cost of a standard room.

* Finally, there are a 6 "Executive" two-bedroom suites. These are equivalent in space to 5 standard rooms knocked together. The first bedroom has a king bed plus a full bath with whirlpool tub. The second bedroom has two double beds plus a full bath. The large living room offers two seating areas, a half-bath, a free-standing wet bar with small refrigerator and a dining table for six people. The living room includes either a sleeper sofa or a Murphy (Sico) bed, bringing the occupancy to 6 people. The Executive suites are set up primarily for entertaining and are generally used by executives staying at the resort for conventions. Executive suites are priced at more than 6 times the cost of a standard room.

Value, Regular, Summer, Peak, Holiday Pricing
Junior Suite and King Junior Suite
$330, $380, $415, $450, $515

VIP 1-Bedroom Suite and King 1-Bedroom Suite
$615, $675, $715, $750, $820

2-Bedroom Executive Suite
$910, $999, $1035, $1070, $1210

OK, I think I asked this before but what is the best way to get to other resorts (AKL, CR, GF, FW) from CSR? And how much time does it take?!

Also, who do I call to request which area of the resort I would prefer and when do you suggest I do it? I think I'm going to choose the Casitas!

There will be some walking involved at CSR but not as bad as some make it out to be. The distance around the whole lake is just under a mile (.97 miles). CBR surrounds a 45 acre lake and CSR surrounds a 15 acre lake.

Walking Distances
From El Centro moving clockwise around the lake path to:
Casitas 3 = .16 miles
Casitas 4 = .24 miles
Casitas 5 = .27 miles
Ranchos = .46 miles

From El Centro to the Dig Site, via the bridge near the Cabanas
= .35 miles

From El Centro moving counterclockwise around the lake to:
Cabanas 9B = .16 miles
Cabanas 9A/8B = .22 miles
Cabanas 8A = .31 miles

OK, I think I asked this before but what is the best way to get to other resorts (AKL, CR, GF, FW) from CSR? And how much time does it take?!
Take the first bus to a park and switch to that resort bus. You could also take a cab from the front of the resort. AKL is around the corner (5 mins), CR and GF are about 10 mins. FW is more difficult. Take the bus to MK. The bus will drop you off near the boat launch to WL and FW. Take the boat, and it will drop you off very near Pioneer Hall. That's the quickest way to get there without using your own car. Getting back can be tricky depending on the time of year you go. As long as MK is open, you can reverse it.

Also, who do I call to request which area of the resort I would prefer and when do you suggest I do it? I think I'm going to choose the Casitas!
I would suggest making the request when the initial reservation is made. Call CRO or your TA.
