We'll be going to CS for our first visit starting on 11/24/06; just DH and myself.

I've been reading everything on this resort and it looks very nice. This is the only Mod we have yet to stay at.

We will have a car and are planning on arriving at the resort mid morning and not doing any parks that day. We will want to stay at the resort and rest and enjoy the ambiance. :goodvibes

A couple of questions - which area should we request. We'd like to be near the quiet pool and not far from the Dig Site - since we want to experience that too. We also want to be near the food area.

Looking at a map, it looks like Casitas building 4 might be a good area. What experiences do you folks have with this area?
Here are some good choices

Cabana 9b is close to bus stop 1 and the main building with a short walk to the Dig Site (main pool) over the wooden bridge. Most convenient location and most preferred.

Cabana 8a is close to the Dig Site (and playground) and bus stop 4 with a short walk to the main building. (Closest to the Pool)

Cabana 8b and 9a are in between the 2 above. 9a has a quiet pool and is also a smoking optional building.

Ranchos 7b has a quiet pool, is close to the Dig Site and bus stop 4 with a bit longer walk to the main building. 7b is behind cabana 8a.

Casita 3 has great courtyard and fountain views but you will have to walk or ride the internal shuttle to get to the pool.

Casita 5 has some nice fountain and lake views and is close to the Dig Site but farther from the main building.

Forgot to ask-

How many hot tubs? Is it like the other Mods where there is one Hot Tub at the main pool?

Thanks

And Thanks for the location advice, getting so excited and we have such a long time to wait.

Hezreck - that would be cool to run in to you and your family. I am not sure my travel agent requested the room area for us because we need a non-smoking room due to my daughter's asthma. Buzz where are the non-smoking rooms close to the food and the dig site pool???
The other question I have about reading different threads on csr is there really alligators in the lake? Is it safe to be on the beach at night or day to hang out ???
thanks Diane

All buildings are non smoking except 9a or 9b... can't remember which one right now.

Alligators are everywhere in Florida. If you leave them alone... and don't encourage them by leaving food out, they tend to leave you alone. There is a large gator in the lake at my grandparents home in the orlando area... and he has been seen in the yard already but it is very rare that he comes out when people are around.

Just look into the pool before you jump in!!! Especially at night!

What the pool dont scare me ! I am sure they wont be in the pool. Has anyone ever seen one? Dont try and pull my leg.
Diane

My grandparents have a fence around the pool... so the alligator has never made it in... I have heard that the gators end up in pools when lakes water starts gettin low...

I would imagine that disney has taken preventitive measures to keep gators away from the pools.

yes, one hot tub by the main pool and bar. But it is the largest hot tub on WDW property.

The only smoking optional building at CSR is cabana 9a. Other than 9a, here are some good choices.

Got a chance to see the gator at CSR. They caught and moved him while we were there in April. Can say that more haven't moved in. The CM's stay on top of them though and they are moved if they get bigger than 4 ft. We usually hang on the hammocks during our stay. I never get too close to the water though.

Hi, just read through the entire thread and am so excited about my trip to CSR in December! I loved POFQ last year but CSR just seems to offer more. I just wanted to comment on/clarify some information a few pages back regarding room requests not being guaranteed. I would agree that building location or smoking preference are requests only and are not guaranteed. However, king bed rooms and water view rooms cost more per night than a standard view/double room, so my understanding is that if you have reserved and paid for this room type, you are indeed guaranteed to placed this room type. The king room may or may not be waterview, but this bedding type is not a request but a guarantee. If I am mistaken about this, please let me know!

Not necessarily, CSR only has 124 king rooms out of 1924. Most king rooms have some type of handicapped accessibility. If someone that needs that type of room registers, you could be bumped.

I believe my request will be bumped to due to medical reasons my daughter needs a non-smoking room. She has asthma and we will end up at the hospital if we have a smoking room. Am I right?

Considering only one building out of 13 is smoking optional, you should be safe in getting a non-smoking room.

Buzz or anyone who knows:

Hi everyone! We have been staying deluxe since 1999 but man is it getting expensive! So, we're booked with the new package at Coronado 10/28-11/3. We haven't stayed there in a long long time - not since 1998. We liked it a lot. A beautiful resort with great amenities for a moderate. We've never used the pool because it was December when we were there.

Question - we booked a standard room. We like being far away from the main area as we like and look forward to walking the grounds. I'm thinking we may want Ranchos. We stayed in Cabana last time and it was great. But, I wouldn't mind being farther away. One thing I would LOVE is to have a nice view of something other than a parking lot. For every resort we've stayed at (Poly, WL, CR, POR, GF, YC/BC) we have always faxed in a room request and 100% of the time our requests were met.

How is Coronado about honoring requests? The only request I will make is the Ranchos section (which I had CRO note on my reservation), non-smoking (also noted) and a "view of something other than a parking lot." Buzz...do you have any room suggestions for us?

You're a wealth of knowledge. I'm going to check out your website.

Thanks

I've been to CSR nine times and submitting requests eight out of nine. Our first trip I was to green to know better. So out of the eight trips which I submitted a request, only one time did we not get our request met and I still believe it was because we arrived late at night.

We ended up in rancho 6b which was nice. As you can see from the map on my site, it is completely surrounded by greenery. The only other buildings that have no parking lot views are rancho 7b, cabana 8a, cabana 9b and casita 3. So in your case, I would go with 6b or 7b.

Ranchos 7b has a quiet pool, is close to the Dig Site and bus stop 4 with a bit longer walk to the main building. 7b is behind cabana 8a.

I stayed in Casita 5 (on the 4th floor) and don't think I could have been further from it all if I tried. :) The room had a beautiful view of the lake and everthing surrounding it. There was a pretty courtyard next door, and a small pool close by (but not close enough to hear the noise.) It is the prettiest small pool I've been to...and I've been to a LOT of them at WDW. :)

The whole place is gorgeous, but if I'd seen it ahead of time, I'd have requested what I just happened to get. :)

Guess if I'd gotten a parking lot view, I wouldn't be so enamored of the place, though.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

5 is great! It was the first place we stayed in 1998. But the backside is parking lot views. It sounds like you were in the same spot as us. We had 4th floor over looking the lake and the fountain.

Either this or take a cab for less than $5.00.

glad i went thru the thread, this was a question i was going to ask as we have an 8am ressie at bomas one morning.

what are the chances of getting a cab to accommodate: 4 adults, a 5 year old and a 2 year old?

also, we have 8am ressies at chef mickey one morning and we have 8am ressies at Crystal palace one morning.

how long does it take to go by bus to TTC (i assume thats the best way, then take the monorail to Contemporary)

and also to M.K (for crystal palace) and what time do the busses start running at? to make the 8am adr, what time would we have to be on the bus by?
