The NEW Contemporary Resort with DVC?!?

Guess I should've snapped a photo everytime I could see the Contemporary.

Given the way the sightlines around World Showcase have been impacted, I don't have confidence that this holds the same priority it once did. Therefore, I'm suspicious of a new structure that's taller than than the existing one at this location.

If you don't care about the sightlines, so be it. But there doesn't seem to be any compelling evidence that the sightlines won't be negatively impacted.

The renderings are still posted on the DVC Board.

Thank you for the link! I can not understand "where" this new building(s) will be located at the CR? Is is near the tower? Is it near the so-called "wing" section? Is it to the right or left when facing this resort? Will it be available to the general public too? Are some of the (condos) going to be sold or all rented? We have always wanted to stay there (monorail). Is the monorail going to go into this new building too? When will this resort or condo be completed?

The DVC building will be located in the current location of the north garden wing which will be demolished. The Contemp. DVC will be located to the left of the tower (if facing it from the MK side). If you look closely at the renderings, there is an elevated walkway from the DVC to the 4th floor concourse in the tower to provide access for DVC guests to the monorail system. The "rumor" is that the Contemp. DVC will be completed in late 2008 or early 2009. Remember that WDW has not confimred that the addition will be occurring. There is a press conference scheduled for 10/1 and the speculation is that the Contemp. DVC will be announced then.

Assuming it works like the rest of DVC, all will be sold, but you buy points, and the points are used to book. The points needed vary, depending on day of the week, season and view.

Rooms that are not booked at a given time can be rented by non-DVC owners, but I'm guessing availability would be pretty limited.

You can also rent points from a DVC owner to stay at a DVC property. Check out the DVC boards to get more info.

Is it legal to buy points? I would be interested in trying this some time. Where do I look to purchase such points for a brief stay, and what is the average price for points (so I do not overpay)?

I'm shocked to read they are going to demolish a wing area of the resort. Yet, it should be beautiful when completed.

Crazy4WDW--Thank you for the extra help with the rendering. It's a bit confusing, but your description is crystal clear! :thumbsup2

There is a whole board dedicated to renting points http://disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=29. The going rate is $10 - $12 a point but there is significant disagreement among owners whether this is enough.

Thanks for the link and info. I am so happy to know I can actually buy points this way, and try the DVC before buying (or considering this). I checked this stuff out again before coming back here, and figured the price to be about the same as the rooms (at the WDW properties, etc). Yet, the rooms have more amenities, right? Some have microwaves, and others even have complete kitchens according to the description. Which room (studio, villa, etc) would you recommend trying for the first time? The price is not very different between the studio and the bedroom (regular room--but with microwave and little fridge). It's a tough call.

Are there any other fees I should know about (like contract fees or deposits) or hidden costs? Are most of the people listed on that site honest? Have you ever heard of any trouble or problems with people renting points in this way? I noticed the prices for points vary greatly, but your information is right-on (average is 10-12$). Thanks again. :thumbsup2
