The major sentiment is that the wings are an eyesore. The problem designing a structure as unique as the tower is that very little can complement. There are certain architectural details from the renderings that try to complement the tower as one poster alluded to without it being a tower II copy. The other aspect is that the tower is forever stuck in the 70's retro-futuristic design and is the very heart of the clear cut love/hate relationship most people have. No sane architect would design a building that would follow along the same lines without some clear post modern design incorporated so that someday there could be a transition for design overhaul of the tower (ie get rid of the dark metal accents and bronzed glass and replace it with stainless steel and green glass as a suggestion).ploto said:I don't think it would be a good idea to do this. I can't believe that Disney would tear down part of an original Resort. Plus it just does not look right. It takes attention away from the monorail going through the tower. Right now it looks very nice... you have big tower with monorail going through it with two smaller buindings to the side.
A little OT, as a Trekkie fan, when TNG first came out, I boycotted it for the first season. I then watched a episode while at a friend's house and was soon hooked. I would have to say that TNG is the best of all of the Star Trek series. The point is, I do enjoy staying at CR, but I am going to give them the benefit of the doubt and find a way to improve their only "dinosaur" resort.
