The New Caribbean Beach FAQ Part VII

Blah. Some frustrations. I did the online check in 50 days ago and requested either aruba or jamaica. So I called back today to add additional room requests. We currently have a king bed room. So I added possible second floor and also wanted to add beach/water view and was told no either garden or courtyard. We're also celebrating our first anniversary which added to the reservation as well :). 10 days until we're there. Anyone have a preference or experience with garden vs courtyard view? Or should I try faxing an additional request for the original waterview I wanted? I guess it's due to money. Oh well. I'd say give 1.5-2 hours for Disneys magical express. I've had to wait in a decent line to board the bus at the airport before but you never know :).

Did you book a standard room? You can get water or beach if available and you upgrade to a preferred room.

We did standard and loved the courtyard view. Very nice and peaceful.

3 days to go!!! DD8 is cleared to ride and remove her brace at times!! I asked Dr about rides and sh piped up and asked about water slides! No significant fracture in patella - but she's not cleared to run/jump/tumble for another 2-3 weeks. I'm sure we'll find a way to keep her happy without running/jumping while at disney!

Room Requests: Corner Room, Near Transportation, Jamaica Village, Second Floor
Amenity Requests: None Selected

So I was allowed to select 4 for my room, but none for amenities (is this what I fax). I have no clue if they were follow my 4 room requests, but I clicked until I could click no more.

Just had to do some modifications...DD's friend that was to come along had until Oct 1st to raise her portion of the money, and her mom just let us know that she hadn't even raised 1/4th, so will not be coming along...so while on the phone with the reservations I made the Jamaica or Aruba request. Pretty much just wanted to get a refurbed room for sure. 82 days till we arrive (80 till we leave home) DW was freaking out this weekend that she hasn't started her packing lists yet.

How on earth did you manage to select FOUR?? It said on my screen to select up to 2??

Is there a way I can email my room requests?

FP+ are book and I have no complaints:thumbsup2

ADRs are done:cool1: Hoping for a pre-opening CP rather than 9:10, but I am still happy. Debating about BOG for lunch.

Now its onto online check in and room requests....

We have a preferred room with standard view, but I would like some perks...its just a matter of which one(s).

Proximity to the food court isn't much needed as we will just use the in room coffee and treat our mugs as souvenirs. Closeness to pool isn't a requirement either, however I am determined to spent a few hours at some point at the pool.

I'm leaning towards 2nd floor and close to transportation. However, I know its not an option but I cannot have adjoining in rooms! It freaks me out and I will not be able to sleep! So I really need to fax that in and my niece who is going with us has really bad asthma and a deep cleaned room would be really helpful. Having a deep cleaned room is not a requirement, but it would just be a nice preventative measure.

Any thoughts or suggestions???

This is considered a "medical request" and you will need to call if you really want to make sure this happens!! You might also ask that they put down that you want a room that is NOT close to a smoking area if this is a trigger for her asthma. Yes it means being on hold for a bit, but really the only way i would trust a medical concern be dealt with. I called to do this on a Sunday afternoon and was on hold for a whopping FIVE minutes :faint: Good luck getting what you want, i'll cross my fingers for you if you do the same for me :rotfl2: we check in in 33 days (but who's counting!!)

I have been forced by the doctor to drink decaf, and I can't remember if I have already asked but are there decaf pods in the room? Also can you order pods that fit the coffee makers?

Is there a DVD player in the room? Do you know if there are any cable TV channels like HBO or Showtime? Thanks, we check in tomorrow!!! :)

Most of the rooms are near the transportation, as there is a bus stop for each village. I'd be wary of requesting a room near the bus stops because you may well find yourself facing the car park.

When I rang to make my room requests at the end of last year I said I didn't mind what view I had as long as I wasn't overlooking a smoking area or the car park! This year I'm not going to be able to make requests by phone as we didn't book through Disney. At my request, the TA has requested a ground floor room for us, but I don't know how to ensure we get neither a room with a murphy bed nor an interconnecting door: I don't want the noise transfer from an interconnecting room, and I do need the floor space free to drive the ECV in to charge it. The Murphy bed is a lot wider than the normal sideboard and I don't think it'll all fit.

No DVD in the rooms. There is cable, yes, but honestly when we are there we only watch Channel 17. :goodvibes

There are many more channels to choose from, but I don't remember HBO or Showtime.

I'll gladly send you some luck! I have no clue how I was able to select I just gave it a whirl and it just let me. Hopefully I can get some, if not all of my requests.

Looks like I'll be placing a phone call in the coming days about the medical request.

They did have decaf in the room! I'm not sure about ordering pods. The coffee in the rooms are less like Keurig Pods and more just like sealed coffee filters filled with coffee.

Ok great! As long as I can get decaf I'm not that picky..no decaf is very good anyway so I don't even drink it everyday. I miss my old coffee, but I found the little caramel macchiato creamers and they help! :)

Thanks DansDad......you're the best! I'm sure that I'll have a bunch of questions before the big trip! Only 273 days to go :yay:

I am in exactly the same boat!

Online check-in I requested 2nd Floor and Close to Transportation. I called the general reservation number to request Jamaica. I am also going to fax over my requests a few days before check-in. We have a King room and I really hope we don't get an adjoining room. Just worried about noise.

We have and ADR for CP at 9:25am and trying to get an 8:00am. We have late FPs for BOG lunch. You might as well get the FP even if you don't use it.

Only 7 days away!! This board has been so helpful. Still debating on getting a cab or renting a car as we have 3 ADRs at other resorts. I'm like a taxi driver at home for my family, so I like the idea of relying on the busses or calling a cab when we need to, just not sure how quickly you can get one.

We prefer the taxi route. We've never waited more than 10 minutes for a cab to pull up to our building's circular drive after calling Bell Services for one.

Hullo! Are all of the buildings in Trinidad South pretty convenient to the laundry, by chance? We'll be there for nine days and I think it'll be easier to do two loads of wash in the middle of the vacation rather than pack nine individual outfits for three people.

Does anyone know of any update to the Kid's pool? Last I heard was that it was reopening on 9/26 or 9/27?

We're here now and as of yesterday afternoon, the kids' pool area was still in refurbishment.
