The New Caribbean Beach FAQ Part VII

I am getting ready to make my "requests" and wanted your opinions.

Would you rather stay at Jamaica or Aruba (pool/water view) or Martinique (pool/water view).

My dilema is that it sounds like Martinique won't be refurbished by the time we travel but the walking distance to food is desirable.

The queen beds at the refurbed buildings would be really nice but our family would also prefer close proximity to the food court if possible.

Are there buildings at Jamaica or Aruba (water/pool view) that are already refurbed that would also be a quick walking distance to the food court?

Thanks for your help?

I was in a water view in Jamaica 42. It took exactly six minutes to walk to the food court.

only 11 more days!! i couldn't tell from the pictures and i can't remember from our last trip - does the clock radio in the room have a 'noise machine' option? we are all white noise sleepers and would prefer not to have to pack one more thing. but it is a necessity in our house!! omg did i mention only 11 more days?!?!?!? :cheer2:

We are big white noise people and didn't even look at the sounds on the alarm clock because the air conditioner worked well for white noise.

I usually just put the radio between stations, for the static. the "white noise" wasn't so white! nice ocean roar...ooh, soothing... then! all of a sudden CAW! CAW!!! seagulls!!!! :rotfl:

or babbling brook, soothing.. then!!! Ribbit!!! RIBBIT!!! FROG!!!
:rotfl2:
now who thought throwing animal noises into the mix would be a good idea?

I am a big fanof white noise. one trip, our first night, hubby was out like a light after being up from the wee hours on tarvle day.. and the radio/clock didn't work!!! didn't find that out until too late. man can HE snore!!!!

I tried everything.. I finally dragged myblanket and a couple pillows out to the bowling pin pool at Pop around 1 am... pulled 2 lounger together. (no, they didn't "mesh" but I could hang my knee out on one, or my foot)

worked ok... a couple late night swimmers were mostly quiet. one young couple: guy in pool, girl sitting on side. now you can see me with my blanket, etc. so she sits on MY side of the pool and they talk. why not the OTHER side? lol ... I know, it's not a bedroom...

I slept till about 3 when CAW!!! CAW!!! birds woke me. rats.
when I get back I just threw away the note Ileft for hubby.. dang guy never even knew I was gone!!!!:lmao:

Supposed to check in in 16 days - but DD8 has injured her knee (she's a gymnast) at this point her knee is immobilized, we follow up 3 days before check in, we need some pixie dust to get the all clear or we will be rescheduling :-(

If you've got some extra good vibes please send them our way for my poor little princess... Trip reschedule or not she's not a happy camper when she can't run and flip and jump!

Prayers and pixiedust: being sent your way!!!

I sleep in ear plugs. I've done so for years now as OH is such a loud snorer. Also, it doesn't matter how big the bed is, he will always roll right over onto my ride and snore in my flaming ear!

Can you add me to the roll call for next year? 9/12-9/18/2015. Thanks!

CBR was awesome, we got back last weekend and we took advantage of the bounce back offer. Thanks everyone for the tips and pictures! We stayed in Jamaica 45, and we definitely felt it was close enough to everything we wanted. And we absolutely loved the resort. We were really disappointed when they decided to refurb the splash area, but we didn't miss it. We didn't even go to the main pool, but were in the quiet pool by the room every afternoon!

We decided to go back next year and bring DH's parents, brothers, sister and niece! :dance3:

You know what makes me smile? Getting the email that my Magic Bands have been shipped :cool1:

29 more days untl my "surprise my sister" trip :-)

Can someone tell me how much the fruit is in the Grab and Go? TIA

I posted some pictures of the grab n go section just a bit ago on my trip report. Let me go see if I can make out the prices and I'll get back with you.

**Edited to add: I went back and zoomed in on the picture and there were no prices. The signs just say dining plan snack option but I know that you can buy them as well.

Yes I tried to zoom in on your picture and there weren't prices. Hoping someone can find out for me. We are trying to see if it's cheaper to get Garden Grocer to deliver a few apples and oranges with our order or a better deal at the Grab and Go. :)

Just going from memory so not perfectly sure but I seem to recall the small fruit containers were around $3. If you can make the minimum order, I'd imagine GG would be cheaper. :)

allearsnet.net has a link to WDW menus. I was able to find that whole produce is $1.49 at Anaheim Produce, I would imagine it's similar throughout WDW unfortunately I couldn't see a listing for whole fruit at the resorts. Garden Grocer's $14 delivery charge May or not be worth it depending on how much you're going to order.

Sorry - during our trip we didn't go to the Grab and Go for fruit. :(

We did stop by store and pick up cut pineapple for my DD - can't remember what we paid but it is close to what we pay at home.

Our room requests were a refurbished and corner room. Now I have messed up my knee a little bit at work. I did the same thing last year and it took a few weeks to go away. It was annoying, but it wasn't too painful except for climbing stairs. Would it be excessive to request a ground floor room on top of this?

If I were you, I'd call and let them know that you need a ground floor for medical reasons. If the refurbed room is more important than a corner room, I'd list the requests as: 1) ground floor due to medical reasons; 2) refurbed room; and, 3) corner room.

Can anyone tell me the closest supermarket to CBR? My DS is pretty juice and snack specific and Garden grocer doesn't carry some of the items. I am willing to take a cab ride on our arrival day but want to have an idea of where I am going. TIA!
