We will be traveling in mid October and I requested a renovated room. What are the chances we'll get one?

Are they still working on Aruba or is it finished now? Seems like Jamaica went faster than Aruba...but maybe I'm wrong.

I feel like the reports on Jamaica did make it seem like it went faster. Though someone reported staying in Aruba 51 which on the front page says 90% completed. Do they really put people in buildings that aren't finished??

Just depends on what is available when you arrive. We checked in this past Sunday and had requested a room in Jamaica during online check in and got it, but also requested close to parking lot and didn't get that. We had a room with a Murphy bed.

If you go to the first post in this thread they keep it updated with what is finished and there is also a map which will show you the building numbers and where they are located.

I must be crazy but I can't seem to find the link to the updated buildings

Do they put guests in the buildings they are working on? Because someone reported staying in Aruba 51, but the front page still states that it's "approximately 90% finished".

Just got back from 5 nights at CBR. My first stay there & I was very happy with it! I think my room location played a big part in that. We were in a refurbed room in Jamaica 44 (#4414). Perfect location! Easy walk to everything!

Let me know if I can answer any questions for you. I can say that as we were leaving today it looked like they were beginning to move their equipment to the next area in Aruba for refurb. I didn't pay close attention to which ones (sorry) but from the map they were moving closer to Aruba 54-56. That being said there was a large area of the parking lot in front of Jamaica 43 that was still occupied by equipment and reserved spots (for the construction staff I gathered). We ended up having to park in front of 46 but it was no big deal. The splash pool was closed after about our second day there.

I'd definitely come back to CBR (unlike POP!) but I like to try new resorts so I booked a bounce back offer (w/ free dining) for the same Labor Day week for next year at the Yacht Club!

I was there the 13th-18th of August and they were NOT RFID controlled. I drank quite a bit of the white tea with citrus. Has this changed in the last couple of weeks?

We JUST got back this evening and no, neither the coffee or tea was RFID controlled.

First post in this thread. In red text. It is literally the first thing you see. It isn't a link. It is a paragraph description. If you can't find it from that description you're on your own. ;)

Hi

Is the map accurate for distances ?

For example, Jamaica 45 & Aruba 51 look closer to the food court, via the bridge, than say Martinique 21. Would that be accurate ?

Many Thanks

A question on building requests for you veterans...What should I call in to request before online check-in?

Here is our ideal pick for a room, Jamaica, 44, 45, or 46, corner room, second floor...so...

....since it sounds like a lot of people ask for Jamaica 45, and we are doing plain standard, no-view, but would like a corner room in Jamaica, do you think calling and requesting a corner room in Jamaica 44 or 46 would be a smart move?

Or just request corner room in Jamaica...and when we do our online check-in should we pick the same two choices or since we want 2nd floor as well, go with corner and 2nd floor on there?

I don't want to be too specific and risk not getting in Jamaica (THAT is the main thing we want) we would give up corner room and possibly even 2nd floor if it meant Jamaica...but, would take 41, 42, or 43 in Jamaica if it could be 2nd floor corner. So I just don't know what to request.

I'm torn on what to try to request now and what to request with online check-in. Just request our preferred buildings and get whatever room? Or request everything that would be ideal? What are your thoughts?

Oh, and joy oh joy...look what today is!

"Christmas" to us will be our check-in at CBR!

We will be arriving at the Carribean Beach Resort Sept 13th to the 20th, so excited, its our second time there and one of my favorite moderate resorts :) Can't wait to go swimming, eat in the food court and just explore the resort again :goodvibes

It is pretty accurate. Jamaica 45 and Aruba 51 are a bit closer to OPR than Martinique 21.

[snipped for space]

Call and give them your requests, in order from most important to least important. So if Jamaica is the most important then request that first, then put 2nd floor and corner room in the order of importance to you. When you do online check-in pick the 2 that are most important, so Jamaica and whichever of the other 2 requests are most important to you. I would get too specific on buildings but you could say Jamaica 44, 45 or 46 as your first request when you call. If you don't get one of those buildings than you can always ask at check-in if there's a room available to switch to in one of them. :thumbsup2

We will be there the same days also!:)

I'm beginning to have second thoughts on staying here for Marathon Weekend. I LOVE CBR and generally consider it home, but my flight isn't scheduled to land until 9pm (I have to teach that day...I only get three "personal business days" each year, and they are already spoken for...and I didn't want to deal with getting up super early for a first flight out). I'm worried that no matter what I request, I'm going to end up in a non-refurbed village or worse, a village that IS being worked on (and possibly a building if Aruba 51 really is still only 90% finished as someone just this week reported staying there) because I'll get leftover rooms.

But I don't know where else I'd go. Everything else is more expensive - even the mods, though not hugely so...I'm just not a fan of POR and definitely not of CSR and the cobblestones in POFQ freak me out for Marathon Weekend plus I hate New Orleans. And while I've stayed in values (ASMu and Pop), they aren't my favorite and not my preference. :(

I know I'm overthinking this, and I'll be tired enough it won't matter what section I'm in ultimately. But.

Are you saying that because of your arrival time??? We arrived at 10pm last Sunday night and got a refurbed room in Jamaica 44. It was the perfect location.

Ok, good to know. I have just had the experience of ending up in less desirable rooms at other resorts when arriving late. And it's too much of a pain to move rooms the next day.

Grated, I arrive late into the weekend relatively speaking since at least those doing Dopey will be getting in on Wednesday at the latest.
