It's a preferred building, but there are water views. So you won't be put there if you only booked a water view room, but you may end up with a water view if you've booked a preferred room.

We have requested Martinique because I was not familiar with CBR earlier when I made the reservations. It is sounding like I should change the request to Aruba or Jamaica unless Martinique is in the process of refurbishment now... ORRRRR, would anyone know how long a refurbishment takes? How many more are still undone?

sorry for all the quesitons, especially if they were asked previously.

Thank you all! Hope everyone there already is having a great time, and those going soon have the time of their lives!:confused3

I didn't see any activity in Martinique but I didn't look very close. I think they were still working in Aruba last week.

I was there the 13th-18th of August and they were NOT RFID controlled. I drank quite a bit of the white tea with citrus. Has this changed in the last couple of weeks?

done check in yesterday 59 days to go

where do we go when we get there, is there a window to go too?

Congrats! You go to the Custom House to check in. If you go to the map on the first page of this thread you will see the Custom House on the bottom left underneath Barbados. It really is not hard to find at all. :)

You are correct, I was there August 30-September 3 and they were not RFID controlled.

If everything stays on the schedule they are at now then Martinique will be starring to be refurbished in December, with it taking about 2 months to finish. They are done Jamaica, almost done Aruba then it's Barbados before Martinique will be started.

... and bearing in mind Martinique is in two halves (with 6 buildings), it is pushing it to expect the preferred rooms to be done by the beginning of March when we're there. :(

I don't care too much not having a refurb'd room, but I can't bear the thought of it not being available at all. :worried:

Hi everyone,

Just thought I would share my thoughts on the new CBR. Stayed 8/25 to 8/30 in Jamaica 4401 - renovated room with no Murphy Bed but queens not doubles:cool1::cool1:- parking lot view (actually view of fenced in construction area).

Although I liked the old design better (more colorful) the room was still nice. (Sorry I haven't posted enough to be able to share photos.) We had Mickey head on bed when we checked in and were left one additional towel animal during our stay.

I was a bit disappointed in the air conditioning - the room was a little warm when all the family was moving around (and I get cold easy and I never felt cold at all - sometimes I was actually hot in the room) and for DH it was uncomfortable even when sleeping. (We keep our AC units set to 60 degrees (window units not central) and the air in the new rooms does not go below 68 degrees). Manager said this is new standard in the renovated rooms.

Bus service was quick we never waited more than 15 minutes for a bus. Overall it was nice to go back "home" - but may do some research before next trip to see if any Disney rooms can have air set to lower temperature. Makes me sad because of the all the Disney hotels CBR is my favorite.

60°? Jesus wept! That's arctic!! At the condo there was a notice by the aircon switch warning that if it was turned below about 68° the unit could freeze and then we'd have to pay the repair costs! The villa we stayed at years ago was 'locked off' at 70° - but when it's blowing air around, that was also too cold for us a lot of the time!

When we were at CBR in February, even taking into account the fact that it was chilly outside at night, I still turned the aircon off at night so we could sleep. Once I even turned it UP to about 72° as we were so cold!

Toffeewoffy, if DH had his way he would make it even colder. I just remember in the past the rooms being colder - I would be shivering in the room but this time I was actually warm.

Martinique is not 2 halves, Trinidad is split into North and South. Martinique should be done by February.

Are they still working on Aruba or is it finished now? Seems like Jamaica went faster than Aruba...but maybe I'm wrong.

Well, technically is it, as 21, 22 and 23 are non-preferred,and 24, 25 and 26 are preferred.

Still the same amount of buildings as the other villages, so there is no reason to think they will take longer than the other villages.
