The New Caribbean Beach FAQ Part VII

Thank you so much!!! I wonder how long it is. My VERY tall 6 year old will be 7 by the time we go. Do you think she'll fit?

I know my middle daughter fit in the POR one when she was 9, but I don't remember it being closed in on both sides like that one.

Anybody know if they are the same length as the ones at POR?

According to **************.net, the Murphy bed is 30" x 64".

Those Murphy beds are so cute. We don't need one because we're only 3 plus an infant, but I kind of hope we get a room with one anyway next month. I know my 5-year-old would get a kick out of sleeping in her own little bed that folds up into the wall.

Just returned from Caribbean Beach for the last 10 days. I was sad to leave. We stayed in Jamaica in building 43 and the new rooms were beautiful. They were a very nice refreshing combinations of browns, greens, and blues. I didn't think I would like it, but I really did.

What kind of activities are available during Christmas week? Are there things like gingerbread decorating? thanks

Has anyone else had an issue changing requests made on the online check in? I did mine probably a month ago and requested 2nd floor, now I've changed my mind and would rather have 1st floor. But when I go back into the online check in, it won't let me change it. The check boxes next to my original two selections are gray and I can't unselect them. I'm able to add more selections though (even though it says choose up to two). Seems very odd that my choices would be "locked in" so far out, I'm just at 30 days tomorrow.

I had the same problem for my stay in May at Pop. I just went ahead and added what I wanted even though some choices were contradictory. I got what I wanted, but I have no idea how the room assigner figured out what I wanted! I think you can call and have them override your online choices.

4217. As I said on the previous page, I had requested 4249, 4252 (both upper floor), 4217, or 4220 (lower floors). I used the touringplans.com room finder tool, I don't believe it showed any water view kings in Aruba. However Dansdad said that all buildings have some king rooms, which is not reflected in that tool. You can call the central reservation line any time to add a room reuqest; faxing a request to the resort must be done 5-7 days in advance only.

Thanks for the info... I kinda got lost in the posts. ;) I'll keep these rooms in mind for sure..

Hello all! :wave2:

Question about the buses at this resort. Are there any issues with the bus stops? For instance, we've stayed at POR previously, and there were instances where the bus would be fully loaded before it could make all the stops around the resort, and people would have to wait for the next bus, and hope it wasn't full. are there any stops that are better than others?

Thanks. 16 days til our arrival! :thumbsup2

I'm here now and we have had no issues with the buses so far. We are staying in Jamaica. I don't think the resort was sold out this week but was told they were pretty full.

Personally I've never had that happen. I've heard of it happening very rarely, but even in busy times that is extremely unusual.

As far as the best bus stop(s): the CBR buses take 2 different routes, depending on which entrance they use. If they come in the side entrance it's Jamaica, Aruba, Barbados, Martinique, OPR, Trinadad South, Trinidad North. If they use the main entrance the order is Martinique, OPR, Trinadad South, Trinadad North, Jamaica, Aruba and Barbados.

We've stayed at the CBR at various times of the year (early, mid and late May, early and mid August, Memorial Day, 24 hour celebration and Star Wars Weekends) and have never had an issue with the buses. Not once have we encountered a bus taht was so full that we couldn't get on at the resort. We have had to wait for the next bus when leaving the parks but the buses came quickly and we were back at the resort in no time.

Can anyone give me a guess as to how long it takes to get from CBR to Epcot?
DS (18) is going to take the Backstage Magic tour and doesn't want to be late to meet up. Thanks

It took us a whopping 11 minutes to get from the CBR to Epcot. That was from the time we sat down on the bus, made the loop around the resort and pulled into the park. Having said that, the driver did not have to assist anyone in a scooter or wheelchair. To be on the safe side, I'd allow 20 minutes to wait on a bus (normally, it doesn't take that long), and 20 minutes to be picked up, make the loop around the resort and get to the park. Also, you'll need to factor in the time to get from the bus stop to the turnstiles and to your appointed meeting area but I am sure that you've already thought about that. If it were me, I'd probably factor in an hour just to make sure that you have plenty of time to get there and check-in and not be rushed. I hate rushing.

We just returned yesterday from a wonderful 10 day trip, we had no bus issues at all. There were many times too that we waited for a bus and would see two of one bus go buy in a small period of time.

We have also stayed at POR last year and the bus situation was horrid. For that reason, I will not stay there again.

I just wanted to say Thank you to all of you who are so committed to this board and answering everyone's questions. I don't get to be there until Oct 2015 but reading this thread everyday helps keep me pumped up and excited, and I will surely know this resort inside and out by the time I go. LOL So Thank You again,
Michelle :goodvibes

I remember planning our first onsite stay and there being so many choices. I had so many questions and was glad that the Dis was there to help me plan. Love the Disboards and all of the awesome people here!

Splash Zone? Has anyone spoke directly with Disney regarding the splash zone being closed? I have spoken with 3 CMs about our stay 9/20-25/14.

Last week: Reservation number, Melvin said he looked at all sites listing closures and didn't anything about the splash zone being closed, only the room refurbishments.

Early this week: Reservation number again, Myra put me on hold, called guest services, come back and said guest services wasn't aware of anything.

Today: Called Caribbean Beach directly, put on hold again, and Marsha said nope no closures during my stay.

Just wondering if anyone has confirmed it?
