The New Caribbean Beach FAQ Part VII

Do you think they are going to wait until the entire renovation is complete to start specifically booking rooms with 5?

Just back from our first stay at Caribbean Beach. Simply put....we are HOOKED! Previously we had stayed at POP and wanted to try something different this year, I am SO glad we did! I did online check in with no issues. I did not get my building/room requests (that I requested on phone call), but I did get the section/floor I requested. We requested Martinique and paid for preferred and were placed in Martinique 24 and was a little disappointed at first, but decided it was a really good location after all!

We had excellent bus service with the exception of a 15 minute wait for a ride to Animal Kingdom, all others were 5 min or less, we were very pleased! The resort is spread out and didn't seem crowded at all!

I didn't take the time to walk around the resort or peek at refurb, but I did see lots of activity going on in Jamaica (I think).

I just had to post that this thread has been super helpful and really made me feel good about my choice to book CBR and having been, I'm not sure we'll ever switch to anything else!

I apologize in advance if this is a stupid question, but is Custom House walkable from the rest of the resort? Are there paths? For instance, if we are in Barbados which appears to be the closest section, would we be able to walk to our room with our luggage or would we be walking in roadways and areas without a path/sidewalk? Thanks!

Glad to hear you loved CBR! I was the same way, having stayed at POP 3 times and enjoyed it. Now I've stayed at CBR my last 2 trips and will again this December and have no intentions of staying elsewhere! :goodvibes

Not a stupid question at all! It is walkable, there is a crosswalk and sidewalks that go from the Custom House to in front of Barbados. If you are on the other side of the resort it would make more sense to take the internal shuttle, but I stayed in Barbados last September and walked to my room with luggage after checking in.

Thanks for the review and I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay! We, too, have always had good bus service and have never had to wait long for a bus.

I made the walk over to the Custom House a couple of times this past trip. No matter where you are within the resort, there will always be a path that will take you to the Custom House. There is a crosswalk that's very near the Barbados bus stop that takes you and from the Custom House. Bell Services can take you and your luggage to your room and from your room to the Custom House.

Just changed our reservation Caribbean Beach!! We'll be there Aug 16th - Aug 24th. So excited :cool1: Is there a way to make room requests? My aunt has a bit of a mobility issue and does not want to try to tackle stairs. I figured if we requested the first floor and any other section except Trinidad South we'd be good.

I'd suggest that you call Disney reservations and put in your requests. Even though my mother is a spry 80 year old, I requested a downstairs room just to keep her from having to take the stairs. Our request was granted every time. Unless you booked a pirate room, you won't be assigned a room in Trinidad South as they are all pirate rooms.

My personal opinion is that once they complete whatever section the rooms that sleep 5 is done is when they will open it up for booking. However, we don't know for sure that there will be rooms that sleep 5. But if so, that is what I think.

Online check in, as in you bypassed the front desk?? Or just the usual online check in?

I did not think CBR had online checkin that allowed you to bypass the front desk.

Hi guys,

My family and I have booked to go to CBR on the 18th of december for 2 weeks.

Could anyone please tell the if all the rooms are double beds only and if they are can we get the King Size bed and request a pull out bed/camper for our 5 year old son?

Im slightly worried about the size of the double thanks a lot guys

Welcome! I've added your dates to the Beach Bum Roll Call. If you look at post #1 of this thread you will see that CBR is currently going through a room refurb. Part of the refurb is switching the double beds out to queen beds. By the time of your trip, I would gather close to 60-70% of the rooms will be completed. So your odds of getting a room with queen beds is pretty good.

Yes, there are rooms with king beds. However, those rooms have a max occupancy of 2 so you wouldn't be allowed in a king room with the 3 of you.

We don't know for sure yet.

Done. Welcome!

Welcome! Let me check my notes and see if they have Lactaid.

Awesome and welcome!

Hooray for a surprise trip.

We are staying at CRB for the first time 4/6 for 5 days in 2015!

So glad you found what a hidden gem CBR is. This is exactly how we felt after our first stay too! And since that first stay, we haven't been able to stay anywhere else!
