The "new" Britney's

I was watching like Inside Edition or Access Hollywood or something like that last night and they did a special on the "New Britney's."

They were saying how today's audience wants to hear artists who write their own songs, play their own insturments, and don't dance around on stage as their "talent." They used Vanessa Carlton, Michelle Branch, and Avril Lavigne as examples.

I'm really glad that music is making this transition! How about you?

All I can say is, it's about time. I am sick of the Britney and Justine type of singers. Do they really think they are that good?

My daughter is 16 and her new favorite singer is Norah Jones.
If you haven't heard her, it's a jazz, ballad type of music.
She is wonderful.

My daughter also likes other types of music, too.
She used to have a thing for the backstreet boys when she was 11 or 12. Her tastes have certainly matured.
She also likes U2....funny, I told her, I remember when they came out with their first album!

that's not to say i don't like artists who write their own music, though.

Britieny is good too, but she hasn't had a good song for a while. The last one I liked was Lucky!

Michelle Branch and Avril Lavigne are my two favorite singers right now...but its definitely because of their music, not the image they're trying to create! They're both trying to hard to prove that they're not Britney, and that their music is so much more rock and not pop...but its really not.

'zactly. they're just as guilty of pushing an image as britney is. plus, i think their music is stinky, so i double don't like them.
