The New AP Rate and The Good Old Days

Just wanted to share my thoughts on the AP rates today. I was thinking that today would be the day, since the public code on packages is coming out tomorrow. I remember when the boards went crazy on the mornings these rates were released. In fact, this insanity is what caused this sub-board to be created. This morning, I got my info from another board and posted here and it was AFTER 7:30. In the past, that was too late to even get most of the discounts. Disney has done a very good job of pushing the packages and the included Dining Plan. Most people now want the DDP and a good package discount. I have never been to WDW with a package. Always use AAA or AP discounts. The AP rates for Jan and the first part of Feb seem to be pretty crappy, especially since it is value season. Seems to me that most of the amount of rooms to be discounted are going into the package deals. Room only and AP discounts are gradually fading away. Guess I am feeling old today. Thanks for listening. :sad1:

I agree. Pushing the packages seems to be more and more what they are doing. I wasn't thrilled with today's rates either, but I think alot of it is the new per day pricing and the weekends being as much as $130 difference in price that is so discouraging. I spent all day researching them to decide where to stay and at this piont I've decided to hold off on booking a trip in Jan/Feb in favor of waiting for possibly better discounts later in the year.

The AP rates I got today did not increase for the weekends. Same price for all 8 nights.
