We are hoping to see Yeehaw Bob on Saturday, June 5th. He is performing 8:30-Midnight. How does this work? Do you just go in and get a table? How crowded does it get? Should we get there before he comes on stage, around 8:00? I am really looking forward to seeing him. We leave in 8 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As long as you go expecting a moderate resort, I'm sure you'll love it. Just don't go into it expecting a Grand Floridian concierge suite... :)

Andre

Thanks. My SO's only trip to WDW has been to the GF concierge suite, LOL. I stayed at POR when it was called Dixie Landings when I was two or three, but don't have a memory of it. Looking forward to being there.

It's a relaxed lounge bar, very family-friendly too if you've got youngsters with you. There's no proper stage as such, just Bob and his piano at one end of the room - just turn up and sit down.

It can get a bit crowded during the mid/later evening, but if you get there at 8pm and get some drinks in I'm sure you'll be fine. They do bar snacks too, or I guess you could send someone next door to the food court (about 45 seconds indoor walk) if you want anything specific.

POR is our favorite resort for a Disney race. We've stayed here for 2 Half marathons, and we really like the convenience. After we run we want to relax, but we need to move a bit. It's a great place to wander the grounds, or take the boat to DTD and enjoy a treat at Ghirardellis! The bus service is actually pretty good for the races, they make it very easy! I also like that I can go right to the food court, grab some chocolate milk and a snack, and keep going to our room.

Cool. Because the race doesn't start until 10:30pm, I doubt we'll be doing much shopping, but maybe the next day.

I'm sure this has been posted, but it didn't come up on a search. Can someone tell me how much the pontoon boat ride cost and how many people will they accomodate?

Thanks:)

In a fit of envy over everyone going to POR, I made reservations for a couple of nights in July. We're only going to do Hollywood Studios and Blizzard Beach because we haven't time for anything else, but I'm happy.:yay:

Do you mean the water taxi ride to Downtown Disney? If so, it's free and there's plenty of space for even larger families.

If you mean hiring a boat of your own for your group, I've got all the details on my website, see www.portorleans.org/rentals.php. Currently the Sun Tracker 21ft pontoon boats (which can take up to 10 people) cost $45 plus tax for half an hour.

We're going to POR in Sep, there's 3 of us and I was just wondering if there's more chance of us being in the mansions than the lodges.

Thanks

About even I'd say, unless you make a special request. Perhaps you'd be slightly more likely to get the mansions if they've already got a large number of parties of five staying at the same time.

Last year, I was very grateful to do the 4/3 deal and upgrade to get the DVC experience at SSR. I was so disappointed, thinking I had a lot of the same amentities at SSR as POR. But I was really let down - and I went over to POR twice and almost cried. I missed the entire food court; the convenient walk from the food court to the bus; the staff; everything. I missed the long leisurely ride to DTD.

This year, I swore nothing could keep me from staying at POR.

Lo and behold, I get the monster 40% off pin code yesterday and called to see if I definately was able to use it on my existing ressie at POR. Last year, the 4/3 deal was not available at POR, because they were already full. Well, it was! And I saved $525.00, so I added the dining plan, and still ended up with a savings of $289.00.

Last night, after a couple of glasses of wine :scared1:, I started wavering on whether I should pay just a bit extra, drop the dining plan, and upgrade to the Yacht Club on the pin code. I have always wanted to stay on the "loop." I almost picked up the phone to find out how much different it would be between my original package at POR, and the 40% off code at YC.......

But I have to remember I am already planning my trip for next year, and I should be prudent with my finances.

My best friend talked me down from the ledge this morning at work and I am staying at POR. ;)

You can request the mansions. AB is saved for parties of 5.

Call and have it attached to your ressie.

It is merely a request and not always fulfilled, but if you have it noted on your ressie they will be able to see if they can make it happen.

I like saving a day just to walk around the grounds and go over to DTD and do some christmas shopping. POR is a good resort when you don't do the parks commando.

I guess I won't ever stay anywhere else. I long to try something different but POR fits everything we want in a resort so why look elsewhere. And it is such a pain to keep second guessing myself! So I will stilck with POR whenever I can afford it ( this time it will be in 12 days) and if I get a great deal on a deluxe I will most likely just pocket the savings and be happy at POR.
My 13 year old dd loves the resort and we have stayed at ASMu, AKL and CSR and CBR also but this is where her heart is ....it is just so peaceful and pretty.

You are right on point! We are going to do exactly as you describe plus a little pool time.:thumbsup2

We didn't go to WDW last year :scared1: and now we're super excited to be staying at POR for the first time :goodvibes I haven't made any request to where we would like to stay because we just don't know as we've never been there before. I'm thinking of just taking what we get and make that a surprise, there is 3 of us me, DH and DD, 15

Added one more day to our stay, room only, to be able to use our 1 day non-exp tickets, can't wait for September to get here :woohoo:
