Hi,

Thought I would give everyone an update. We are currently on Day 5 at POR at WDW. This is our 1st time to stay at POR. Prior to arriving I faxed over a request for possible buildings that we would like to stay in if possible. Well that wish was not granted. My request had been for a room in Magnolia Terrace or Bldg 14 or 18 in Alligator Bayou. Our room ended up being in Bldg 26 in Alligator Bayou. Let me say I LOVE the room itself but room location leaves a lot to be desired unless you really like seclusion. It took us 2 full days to find our way easily to the main lobby and on Day 5 we still have trouble locating the parking lot and the west depot (which is the closest bus stop).

The grounds are unbelievable! Really beautiful. All the staff so far and mousekeeping have been great. Waiting on a bus and crowded buses are almost non-existent, so that is really nice too. As much as I don't like the location of our room you can't help but love this resort.

Thanks for the update! We are there in 99 days, and really looking forward to it. We also requested Bldg 14 in AB - we'll be curious to see if that's where they put us.

Hi Deb,

You may want to add Bldg 18 & 27 to your "request" list. Their location (in relation to the main lobby) are not bad choices either. Actually I like 27 a lot. Good Luck but most of all have fun and be safe.

Ok, silly question. Does room service come every day and do they replenish the shampoo? Trying to help my sister pack. They leave Monday! Thanks

Yes and Yes. They will give extra bottles of shampoo/conditioner too if you want (for after swimming use, etc)

I have never stayed there but will be there during free dining. All Moderates, and Deluxe have towels at the pools. You don't need to bring your own.

No problem I hope that both you and your sister have a great time. AKL is a great resort.

Only the main pool has a towel rack for pool towels. For the quiet pools, you can bring one from the room.
Housekeeping has never had a problem keeping us supplied with towels.

I just called to request a certain area. We arrive Saturday but they can't find me on the system - am I too early to have been transferred over or should I be worried?!

Sorry to quote myself, but just a little warning! We are just back from the stay mentioned above. I never chased up after Disney couldn't find my booking, just figured I would leave the location to fate. That was more apt that I realised as when we arrived they told us our travel agents had cancelled our booking 10 days before, and POR was completely full!!!! We were lucky they found us room at POFQ, which we loved last year, but it was a little disappointing not to get to try Riverside out after planning it for months. So if you ever call and they can't find you, dont just assume like I did that you hadn't been added on to the systems yet and that everything will be OK . . . chase your travel agent up!!!! I am usually such a worrier, I don't know why just this once I didn't follow my natural panic instincts!

POR looked gorgeous as ever though, and we had some nice treats from the food court!

Eeek! How on earth did that happen? Good for Disney for sorting it out for you, but what went wrong? Sorry you missed your POR stay - maybe next time eh?

We are going in September to celebrate our 1st Anniversary, my DH's b-day and his first time at WDW!!! Stayed at POR once before and love it - can't wait to go back!

Our first two trips to WDW were at POR, in 1999 and 2000. We still refer to POR as Dixie Landings. We originally weren't planning on going to WDW this year. However, my DW surprised me with a 40th birthday present (10 nights at POR)!

I just added 2nights at the POR to my upcoming trip in July. So hubby and I will now be doing our first ever split stay with 2nights at the POR and then transfering to the GF for 6nights!!!

It was a spur of the moment decision. I guess we are getting a bit excited the closer it gets! We agree to get full usage out of our 8day hopper tix the only way was to stay a couple extra nights !! At least that is how we justified it to ourselves.

I've been obsessing and planning (over-?) so much about the GF, this will be a fun change! I now get to spend the next month learning about the POR! Starting with this thread of course, lol!

Hey, me too, sort of. I just added one night at POR and then we transfer to BWI for 7 nights (4/3 package) and then 3 nights at Double Tree in DTD. All this because I realized that adding 2 days to our 8 day PH WPF&M tickets would only cost around $30 for all 5 of us and because we're driving down for the first time so I wanted R&R time built in on the front and back end of the holiday. At least that's how I'm justifying it.

Good to know that there's others out there doing somewhat the same thing (rationalization-wise)

We found that we were treated better at POFQ than we have been at Deluxes in the past.. They really know how to make a guest feel special there. Wish we were back there right now.....
