Hello! I'm new to the boards, but I just wanted to say that I've booked POR for our Disneymoon in January!

I haven't been to the World since I was a kid, and my DF has never been!

I'm so EXCITED!!

Anymore addresses anyone :confused3

If you want to send letters or packages, Disney recommends that you use the following central postal address:

Guest or Party Name (with Room Number if known, otherwise check-in date)
c/o Disney’s Port Orleans Resort Riverside
Post Office Box 10,000
Lake Buena Vista
Florida 32830-1000
USA

If the delivery is for a guest not listed on the reservation, use the name of the primary guest on the reservation. If the guest has not yet checked in, the mail will be held for them.

The resort's actual street address is:

Disney’s Port Orleans Resort Riverside
1251 Riverside Drive
Lake Buena Vista
Florida 32830-1000
USA

(Dixie Drive was renamed as Riverside Drive in March/April 2001. The Orleans Drive address is the one for French Quarter)

If one wanted to send something to a staff member there, which address would you use?

Probably the street address, but I'd guess that either would work fine.

To be honest, just "Port Orleans Riverside, Disney World" would probably get through! :)

Welcome to the Dis! I am pretty new too. I haven't been to WDW in about 12 years - I will be taking Mom on a trip in September - her first! POR looks to me like a very romantic place - great for a disneymoon - have a wonderful time! We chose POR because it is somewhat "princessy".princess:princess:

I just came back from my May 2-6 trip to POR. In March, I stayed at POFQ.

While both places were equally nice, I think the CMs at POFQ were better. We had issues at POR with luggage delivery, that sent my bro into a frenzy. *sigh* It wasn't the best way to start a Disney vaca.

Unfortunately, the luggage was delivered to the wrong room, thereby delaying it significantly. However, we got a beautious room at Acadian House, ground floor which I loved!

Other than that, the grounds were lovely. I wish I had more time to wander around. Next time. ;)

And i never did find that butterfly house. Next time, indeed!

Congratulations! I spent my honeymoon at WDW (Poly, they only had 2 resorts at the time lol) and it was the best thing we ever did. Happy planning!

Thanks! We chose POR just for that reason - It seems to have a very romantic feel to it. We'll be staying in Magnolia Bend, which looks really pretty!

Thank you so much. I would've LOVED to stay at Poly. My DF and I are both students (I'm in grad school and he's finishing up his undergrad), so our budget is pretty limited. But I think we are going to try and eat at 'Ohana - just because I want to check out the Poly!

If it makes you feel any better I have stayed at POR 4 or 5 times, maybe 6:confused3 and I've never come across the butterflies. I think I found out about them on this thread....It's amazing how there is always something to see at Disney that you previously missed, no matter how many times you've been. I'm not sure how many trips I've had over the years probably 15-20 and I always find something new to absolutely delight me!:goodvibes

Does anyone know if any of the POR rooms have recently been refurbished? I know that there was a refurbishment in 2005, but I read that some of the rooms had a recent refurbushment. I don't know if that's accurate information or not. :confused3 TIA!

There hasn't been a major reburb since then, but there have been minor cosmetic changes (e.g. new air con units, changes to the lighting, etc)

ok I have been reading this thread but I have never heard of the butterfly house where is it???

It was (is?) located somewhere near the Acadian House when the resort first opened, but it does not seem to have been maintained for several years and no-one has been able to find a cast member who can identify the exact location any more. If anyone knows for sure or has photos, I'd love to hear from them.

:confused3Does anyone have any update on the conversion to queen beds for POR?

Is CSR still the only mod. converting to queens? I noticed back in a March thread here that a PP mentioned that the status was unknown for the other mods. and thought I'd check for an update;).

TIA.

There are no imminent plans that I'm aware of. CSR in a conference hotel, which may be why they got the upgraded bed size?

POR does have the trundle beds, and CBR has slightly bigger rooms, so each mod offers something a little different.

Hi,

Thought I would give everyone an update. We are currently on Day 5 at POR at WDW. This is our 1st time to stay at POR. Prior to arriving I faxed over a request for possible buildings that we would like to stay in if possible. Well that wish was not granted. My request had been for a room in Magnolia Terrace or Bldg 14 or 18 in Alligator Bayou. Our room ended up being in Bldg 26 in Alligator Bayou. Let me say I LOVE the room itself :lovestruc but room location leaves a lot to be desired unless you really like seclusion. It took us 2 full days to find our way easily to the main lobby and on Day 5 we still have trouble locating the parking lot and the west depot (which is the closest bus stop).

The grounds are unbelievable!:thumbsup2 Really beautiful. All the staff so far and mousekeeping have been great. Waiting on a bus and crowded buses are almost non-existent, so that is really nice too. As much as I don't like the location of our room you can't help but love this resort.
