The five quiet pools are fairly similar to each other, the main difference being that the two Magnolia Bend ones are more formal square pools and the Alligator Bayou ones are more organic curved shapes with more trees and foliage near them. The three AB pools also go to 6ft at their deepest (the middle part) whereas the Magnolia Bend ones only go to 5ft. See the Riverside pools page on my website for more details: www.portorleans.org/ol-man-island.php

Is there anywhere to fill your refillable mugs beside the actual food court? Near the pool?
Thanks

Hmmm...thinking about trying this place out instead of Pop over Labor Day. Thanks for all the valuable info. It looks awesome!

Just got back from 11 days at POR, it was a nice surprise.. We were in AB section (building 14) . I slept in the trundle bed for 4 nights - so, yes, it can fit an adult ( i am 5'6" and average weight).. then i moved into the reg. beds when my other family left..

I also got to see the mansion rooms, my sis got a king bed in Arcadia house.. i didn't care for them at all.. i liked the AB decor much better if i had to pick.

The resort grounds were very pretty.. pools nice!

I didn't care for the food court area set up - especially in the a.m. hours -- what a complete ZOO!!!! It seems extremely crowded, and didn't like the way the drink stations are set up either -- i prefer CBR food area much much better... that was the drawback for me.

Overall, it was a nice resort -- is it my fav? No. But, that had nothing to do with anything particular, it's just not my fav themeing, that's all.. Would i stay there again, sure.

We also got to see Bob several times, again, not much my style.. LOL but i did stay for a couple shows.. and my family loved him.. and had a blast, he really got to know my sis and her (now hubby) while we were there -- she got married last week in WDW, and they attended almost all his shows! LOL

Does anyone know if the pool bar or River Roost lounges serve Abita beer?:confused3 It's hard to find decent beer on property in most locations.

We were there in December and we now have reservations for 6/2-6/6. I have an AP but I still can't believed I talked DH into this. Okay, maybe I shamelessly used our daughter and her convincing/wheedling skills but sometimes you gotta go with your strengths.
Loved our visit in December. Our accessible room was big enough to keep me from slamming into furniture in my power chair. Beautiful grounds, plenty of pools and a very reasonably priced food court. The boat to Downtown Disney was very relaxing and convenient. DH and GS took advantage of the Mouseboats and had a large time.
I'll quit rambling and giggling now. I've called everyone I know but had not run out of enthusiasm to be shared.:yay:

Recently booked our SIXTH Riverside stay! I cant believe I have stayed there so much and each time we were in AB....I'm going to leave it up to chance and not request a particular area, however I think I am finally ready to try the mansions:)

Cheers!

I had to call Disney with some questions about our ressie. While on the phone, I remembered that I hadn't made any room request yet. We are a family of 5, so I didn't have to request AB. So, I quickly just said that we would like something close to the food court please. I was going to request a few specific buildings, but thought maybe if I left the request wider that I would have more of a chance. What do you think? Should I request a specific building?

Just book POR for the 3rd Thanksgiving in a row. This will be DH first time to go for the Christmas Holiday. He is alway at the hunting camp and me, kids and other family went the last 2 Thanksgivings. We are hoping to do MVMCP the Sunday after Thanksgiving. Just waiting on those dates. Also waiting to make those ADR's. Love POR. We have alway had a great time there.....3rd time should be a charm right!

Request close to food court; there are three buildings close to the food court in AB - I think it is 14, 15, and 18, so they will have a lot more to choose from, instead of you requesting a specific building.

Building 27 is also a nice close building, and shares the same quiet pool as building 18

:banana:wOOt!!!

POR....here we come!!! This will be our first time at POR and we are just throwing caution to the wind and not requesting a building.

Mulii5 hope you have a wonderful time and enjoy this resort as much as we did. Stayed 3/26/ thru 4/3, had a blast. This is a beautiful resort. Stayed in the French Quarter 3 years ago, we visited Riverside and knew we wanted to stay here if we were able to come back to Disney World. We were planning to visit Disney about 2 1/2 years from now, but we saved and saved and planned a June trip for this year. DH surprised us and booked our trip for the end of March, don't know how he pulled it off and within 2 weeks we were on our way. We used online check in at home a few days before we arrived. When we got to the resort and checked in, it went very quick and smooth, we will always use this and definitely recommend it. We stayed in Magnolia Terrace, building 85, room 8765. Hope to return to this beautiful resort again.

Hope you have a great time, Mulii5!!

We've decided to stay at CSR this month instead of POR, but POR will always remain at the top of our list of fave resorts. We do plan on taking the boat from DTD to POR one night to grab a piece of carrot cake and a celebration bar, though.:yay:

I've read it on here before and now couldn't find it (Might be that I have a migraine so I overlooked it too ). What sections have the king size beds?

THANKS!! We are so excited!!

I do have a question about the Yeehaw Bob show...I have read where he performs from 8:30 to midnight. Does he have a couple of performances or is that one show? If there are a couple of performances, how long is each show? We're trying to work in a performance but don't know if the kids can make it to midnight.
