If you're staying in the Animal Kingdom area there's a Red Lobster on west 192 (Irlo Bronson) as mentioned above and a couple miles further on there's Olive Garden in front of the Target store at Rolling Oaks Commons.

There is a Red Lobster at Crossroads, which is just right out side of DTD, go down hotel Blvd, the Hilton will be on your right, go to the end at the light and go straight across, drive to past taco bell, its kinda hidden on the right hand side behind Taco Bell, DH and I go here all the time, dinner time is busy, but we have found that lunch is easy in and out. There is a Perkins, Uno, Taco Bell, McDonalds, Chevy's and some grocery store all in this area.

For Olive Garden - same route out thru Hotel Blvd. but instead of going straight at light, turn left at light, on to Vineland Rd. get in the far right hand lane, Olive Garden will be on the right hand side at a light, It only about 2 blocks from the entrance to DTD.

Olive Garden is a must do on our Orlando vacations. There's none here in our little corner of the Great White North. It may be commonplace for most Americans, but for us its quite the treat.

I can honestly say that we enjoy Olive Garden far more than Mama Melrose .

I am sure many folks read my trip reports and scratch their heads and wonder "why the heck did they eat THERE?". Places like Cracker Barrel and Chili's and TGI Friday's. But each of those can only be enjoyed when we are south of the border....so they feel very "Orlando"-ish, to us .

Like Gina, said no Olive Garden in Ontario, thank the poultry and milk marketing board for that one. I remember years ago when they asked the CEO why they closed, they said because of the high price of diary and chicken. Only in Canada can a pound of cheese be higher than a pound of steak. We also eat at chains that aren't at home, we always stop at Bob Evans on the drive down.

Yes we do have McDonalds & Subway but I should be able eat better while on holiday.

We eat at Olive Garden while at Disney. Last time we got take out and brought it back to our room at the boardwalk. The meals are huge, and 2 orders fed all 4 of us. My boys are big eaters too.

It was very economical to eat a few meals offsite. We stayed 3 nights onsite at Universal and 8 at Disney. We ate onsite for most meals. We had 3 meals offsite. One at Bahama Breeze, which we don't have anywhere near our house. One at Boston Market, which we also don't have near our house, and one was Olive Garden take out. We do have Olive Garden a half hour from our home and eat there occasionally. We also had sandwiches for dinner once and for lunch once in the room.

You eat where you want whether it's a chain or not. For each person that has an aversion to eating at chain restaurants there's 50 others that don't. Try going to any of the chains between 6 - 7 pm and you'll have a 20 - 50 min wait. Somebody must like them.

I can also recommend Chevys for tex-mex in the crossroads area. They make their own chips and soft tortillas. We usually also hit up Sweet Tomatoes at least once, also in the Crossroads area.

We thought the Red Lobster there was very nice and bright. The ones by us are gloomy and drab.

While Disney food can be more unique than many chains, just being in Anaheim opens up possibilities.

I was not impress with WDW food at all and found that it is over priced. I rather save money eating at chain restaurants that I get free restaurant gift cards for. That make food budget zero while on vacation. That allow me buy my kids little trinkets and tickets they want.

I really don't eat at chained restaurants when I at home. We eat at mom and pop places that have great food for a low price.

We like the Olive Garden and can get a decent meal for about 1/2 the cost of an Italian restaurant in Disney. But, price isn't everything. We just decided to go on a week long trip in April, and I couldn't get reservations at some of the places we like. Also, over the years the food quality at Disney has gone way down and I have been disappointed in many of the meals we have had. So we usually eat off-site at least a couple times - Uno, Olive Garden, Orlando Ale House, etc. Finally, the kids meals are a joke - my boys are 8, 10, & 12 and they really dislike the Disney chicken nuggets, and the food choices for kids are repetative and boring.
