The National Anthem

Just watched the playing of the National Anthem for Game 6 and I realized that every time I hear it I get chills. Maybe its just a conditioned response, but I get just a little choked up every time! DH says he does too.

Anybody else get just a little moved (or more) when they hear the opening strains of "The Star Spangled Banner"?

Any of the classic patriotic songs get me, but our Star Spangled Banner gets me the most.

I am moved every darn time. Taps also gets me. Being a military wife, I think about all those that have gone before us and given their lives for their country every time I hear those two songs. Heck, I'm tearing up just thinking about it now. I'm proud to live in this country

Absolutely. They play the National Anthem before all of my daughters gymnastics meets (she had one today and did awesome by the way!!). What gets me, though, is the number of people who don't put their hand on their heart or remove hats, etc. My 6yo DD has been standing still and placing her hand on her heart since she was 3 for sure and maybe even before that. Makes me sad when people show so little respect sometimes .

Me, too.

I was at Kings Island last weekend, sitting in one of the restaurants (the one with the Circus 3-D Halloween) and the National Anthem came on the big TV screens for the World Series. I noticed that I was not the only one in there that paused to listen with respect.

On the other hand, I was at the Indy 500 when Steven Tyler butchered the ending. Really, really hated that!
