Has anyone else held their reception here? We chose it from the pictures, but I haven't seen many other threads about it so we're starting to worry that it's not the best choice. Also, the information on the Wishbook says that for your reception you choose your food from the existing Cali Grill menu. Does anyone know how this works? Do you pick a couple entrees that are put out as a buffet? Any info anyone has would be great!!! Thanks :)

I'm not quite sure how it works, but I have eaten at the California Grill on many special occasions. The food is some of the best in the "World" and has great options for any type of eater you might have. Plus, the food is always really fresh, and the view from the top can't be beat! Good luck, and I'm sure the Napa room will be great.

I have sample menus for the Napa and Sonoma Rooms here:

http://www.mousesavers.com/weddingrestaurants.html#califgrill

The menus are intended for those who are going to book directly with the California Grill, so the prices are probably lower than what you will pay through Custom Weddings (they seem to mark everything up). However, it will give you a rough idea of menu items and costs.

Thank you so much!! I feel so honored to have you reply to my post, you're a celebrity ;) It seems silly that they mark up the exact same food- no fair! :rotfl:

Those menus are the same that I was given by DFTW...they don't "mark them up"...they are just the group menus made available to groups as compared to being ablelt o order off the menu if you were dining in the restaurant.

Has anyone been able to have the dinner menu option for an early afternoon reception, or are they pretty strict about using the lunch menu for earlier times? I don't like any of the lunch ones :guilty:

I think the Napa Room is beautiful!! When I get married at Disney I am so having my reception there.

What are you using to decorate it? Are you an intimate? Are you going to do the cake cutting and champagne at the Napa Room instead?

Good to know! I thought DFTW gave us different prices than we got when we contacted Calif Grill directly, but I may have confused it with another restaurant.

No, we're a custom, but we're only going to have about 45 people at the most I think. Most of our guests are coming from PA and MD and many can't make it. Since it's a lunch reception, I don't think we'll do a dance floor. I just think it would be cheesy to have a DJ for lunch? :confused3 Still not sure what we're going to do instead, though, so that it's not just ok, let's eat, ok, let's leave ;) You just really can't beat the view!!!

SRU-
Do you know if they'll let you choose a dinner? I have the same problem at my venue -- I just don't like the lunch menu! But I think I will have a DJ even though it will be the afternoon.

No clue about the dinner. I'm going to ask once I get someone assigned to me. We just got our contract today, so we should have someone by next week I hope. Let me know if you find out and I'll do the same :) Go for it with the DJ! We're still trying to decide. However, for us, it would take away room for about 20 guests so I don't think we can do it.
