Well we have had our dog for 3 years. I just asked DD how she came up with the name, and she doesn't remember. She said she had just heard the name and thought it was cute. Sometimes we call her Whit.
I think of Whitley Gilbert also. So...female for me.
I had a girl come stay with me last summer that was going to play football at our town's college. Her name is Whitley. I had a little trouble with wanting to say "Whitney" when I first met her but now I'd probably have a hard time getting the name Whitney off my tongue, lol.
I have never heard of the name before but I really like it. More for a girl than a boy though since it is so close to Whitney, which is another name I really like.
One of the twins had a little girl named Whitley in his class one year so I think little girl.
But in this day and age it seems some names are unisex. My 7 year old has a traditional Irish boys name...which is also used for girls. I didn't realize it at the time when I was pregnant.
