Ok I have seen clip after clip of this ride...and I really want to ride this ride, but I can't tell how rough the ride really is..my question for anyone that has rode it ,does it have any steep drops..I know it goes backwards but for how long...I can't do rollercoasters anymore, :crazy2: I wish I could, and I know this is one, but I can do fast like test track but I can't do steep drops ? Can someone let me know.? Thanks

ROTM is fairly smooth. There aren't any major, long, steep drops. Backwards portion is just one small downward hill backwards. I'm sure you can handle this just fine, I think most people's problem with it is the "unknown" they can't see it from the outside, so they don't know what its about and make it out to be worse than it really is.

I think you will be fine. The mummy is fairly smooth, no steep drops - it does go backward for a second. I don't like rollercoasters at all and I love the mummy!:)

Is Mummy rough? Yes and no. Define "rough." It isn't rough in a jerky track sense. However, it is rough in a "holy crap, that turn was sharp!" sense. If you're sitting on the end, you can get pretty banged up. There are no large drops however. Try sitting in the front row. Unlike most coasters, Mummy uses (seemingly) typical ride vehicles; there's only four rows. Naturally, you would assume it didn't matter where you sat. Surprisingly, it does. Even though there's only four rows, it's actually two trains, each with two rows, connected to look like a single vehicle (so it can take the sharp turns.) The front row still gives a considerably tamer ride than the back row, just like a normal coaster.

I do not like big coasters, but I will ride the Mummy. No steep drops, just a fast backwards section. My kids love the ride.

... and just to clarify, the "backwards section" of Orlando's Mummy is actually just a small hill that you basically slide down. The vehicle turns around after this. The Mummy with an actual, sizeable backwards section is in Hollywood.

The only thing you need to watch out for, is after the car turns around, it launches up the lift hill. At the top of the lift, it makes a sharp right turn and drops. It's a good idea to hang on to the grab bar for this part of the ride.

I absolutely refuse to go on any rollercoaster like Hulk, Dueling Dragons, Rockin Rollercoaster, etc, but I actually don't mind the Mummy. It's a lot of fun and I personally love the backwards part. Of course I always get nervous before getting on it, but I always have fun. I don't do rollercoasters either, but I don't mind the Mummy ride.

I totally agree with the PP.

I, too, can't do most coasters -- Big Thunder Mountain is the only other one I can do in Orlando, and even then, I have to sit for a while -- but Mummy is really fun!

Rode this last year and quite enjoyed it, it has been said to try the front 2 rows as it will not be as rough, we where in the back row and we had the 2 outside seats , apparently these are supposedly the best ones. DW who does not do coasters of anysort , really enjoyed The Mummy and cannot wait to get on it again this year

I have to offer a different opinion. I am able to go on Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, and other typical coasters.....Phoenix at Knoebles Grove, Aladdin's Chariot at Busch Gardens, ones at Hershey Park, etc. At Universal, I am able to go on Dueling Dragons. But I can't ride the Mummy. My kids and hubby went on it first, to tell me how it was. Hubby and 2 kids said it was fine, I'd love it, not bad at all, just fun. My son told me that I wouldn't like. I should have listened to him. I thought it was really rough and my stomach bothered me for quite a bit afterwards. And I was wearing motion-sickness sea bands on my wrists, so that was disappointing.

I don't like big drops either but I like this ride. With the mummy, you will be fine. Try to ride in the front two rows (it jerks you a bit more on the sharper turns in the back). Also, keep your head back against the headrest the whole time and be ready for speed. I also push the lap bar all the way down because I don't like any air time. If I have to ride in the back, I can only do this ride two times a day....if I can ride in the front two rows I could ride this repeatedly without a problem.

^^^^

You can request to ride in the front or second row if you don't mind waiting an extra car (or two or three).

Is this ride condusive to bigger people... I am 6'5, 330lbs and always have some issues with some rides... Does teh Mummy have over the top support, across the waist buckles, lap bar,ect...

The Mummy has a lap bar type restraint. If I remember right the seats are fairly narrow. Maybe someone else with a better memory would confirm/deny this??

It's a lap bar, and yes, larger folks have been known to have problems with it. The restraint has to come down to a certain point or they won't let you ride.
