universal's website says they changed the ride a bit, something about a new and improved mummy ride. anyone know what the change was?

I've been trying to find out since they started advertising it as 'all new' or whatever they're calling it... apparently it's just a new effect at the end of the ride where the car spins round??

Apart from being pretty fast (especially the launch part where you're fired out) and being in the dark, it's not that scary, no.

Depends how you normally are on coasters I guess. It's over pretty quick so even if you're not keen on it, it's over before you know it. :thumbsup2

does it have drops or go backwards?

both! it's no big drops and the roller coaster part of the ride lasts for maybe 1 minutes the most. and the drops i would say around about 25 feet nothing major at all.

it just GOES very fast and you can feel the wind in ya hair - Great fun!

a drop when it goes backwards not like a Splash Mountain drop though - not as big :)

You go down a drop backwards? Yikes, lol I'm a bit of a roller coaster wimp so I'm beginning to have second thoughts about this for when I go in September.

yes, it's a series of small hills which you go down backwards, it's nothing to it really. i don't go on any crazy roller coasters and thought this ride was a piece of cake, just be prepared when you hear "Your Souls Belong To Me", your gonna launch from 0 to 40 mph in about 2 seconds!

Ive been on Xcelerator at knotts so i thikn i might i handle the mummy lol

The Mummy doesn't come close to the intensity of Xcelerator and I will say that the take off is no worse then California Screamin or even Montezuma's Revenge.

The Mummy was just alright for my Dfi and I (I couldn't talk him in to riding it again, even with no line). I personally expected more of a ride - it is very, very short but I give Universal major propers for their theming on the ride. Very Disney Imagineering-like! :thumbsup2

yes, the mummy is a kiddie ride compared to the xcelerator, not even close as far as the drops nor the takeoff. xcelerator goes zero to 80 compared to the mummy going zero to 40. and yes the mummy is a very short ride wish it could be longer, but look at the building they fit it into, i'm actually surprised it's as long as it is. i was expecting it to be a minute long not two minutes. and i heard they recently added some new mummys to the ride and also a new ending...anyone know what it is?

I wondered myself what had changed. It just seemed there was more fog in the "new and improved" version.
