I know, I know, we've discussed those d@#* mugs enough already! But... I have a few questions left-
Do you guys buy mugs for your kids? Mine are 4,4 and 6. They don't sell kids sizes do they? I ask this because you have to buy milk in cartons and although my kids would love it- I don't really want them drinking soda / fruit punch all week. I have read that Captain Cook's doesn't offer juice on the drink fountain... Also, if I do buy the mugs, is there a place to put a straw? I might just pack some kiddie cups in case... thanks for any tips!

Mugs do come with lids. There is a hole to put the straw. If they are going to be drinking milk I wouldn't bother with buying the mugs.

I THINK(could be wrong) that the mugs are just one size per resort(varies from 12-16 oz?)...and I am curiuos to about the straw.I just assumed it had a straw hole,,,but maybe not.Does the "image" on the mug flake off easily or is it fairly good quality?

The mugs image holds up quite well. I have some pretty old ones and they still look like new.

The images do not flake off easily, if at all. Mine haven't anyway. There is a straw hole in the secure lid.

I agree; mug design does not flake off. The ones I have from 1996 still look good.

I do not know your kids, but mine would be ticked off it I got mugs and they did not. And even if my kids only drink a small amount of whatever they are drinking, I would still have to order and pay for a drink (that they might waster)

this way, they get the mug, and I don't have to feel that I am wasting so much money on drinks they don't drink! a win-win for me at least. :cheer2:

We're a family of 4, 2 adults, 2 kids (7 & 4) and we only buy 1 mug. Why? Because the biggest drinker is DH. I usually drink water, and in the morning the kids aren't allowed soda. The mug gets used mostly during nap/break time and evening in which case DH and the kids share the mug.

It works out for us since none of us are squimish about sharing our drinks, and I don't have 3-4 mugs or even 7-8 mugs to lug home as we usually split stay.

IMO the mugs are only good for souveniers, anyway. (and we have them just for that reason. We like drinking out of them at home) We never get our money's worth out of them at the resort because we aren't at the resort enough.

Oogie Boogie- that's what we're going to do. Thanks for the tip. They always eating off my plate, so why not drink from my cup!

Hey! This is no debate!!! It's actually a lighthearted, informative discussion of refillable mugs!! I didn't know they existed. I can now die a happy man! ;)

It's early & only posted an hour ago. Give it time.... :rolleyes1

I'd suggest buying a mug for everyone because they are a great and inexpensive souvenier that actually has a useful purpose. I only had one kid, but I was one of seven, and there's no way we would have all been happy sharing a couple of mugs, not to mention the "ewwww...." factor of it.

oh, :crazy2:

for me that is reason enough to get them their own mugs! Eat all you want from my plate but my drink YUCK!!!

I buy the mugs for everyone, everytime. After this trip we'll have 15 GF mugs, and I think they are all the same design. I used to worry that people would think I was a "mug abuser" because even though I bought ds a mug every year, I would usually just bring his sippy cup when we were going to the pool, fill my mug up with his lemonade, pour it into his cup, and then fill my mug with diet coke for me. I just didn't want to lug an extra mug to the pool each time. Oh well, I guess that's just the Catholic school girl in me.

I agree with person above who mentioned the mugs being useful. Two years ago we stayed at the Beach Club for the first time and they had the mugs sitting in the rooms, so I decided to get one. The kids wanted one but I thought that was too much for a mug.

Well, those little "doo-wops" :flower: they ended up getting as souvenirs, I have no idea where they are, but my Beach Club mug is still used everyday! I am sure we payed much more for what the kids got than what I spent on the mug.

The logo is a little faded but still looks good, and I may actually get 2 or 3 this year. We will be at the Boardwalk for the first time

Question: By the way, where at the Boardwalk do you refill mugs? When I got mine at the BC we were at the Epcot end and it was a LONG walk to Beaches and Cream to get my mug refilled.

and why not just buy one mug and share???

I think it violates the spirit of the program.

WDW is beginning to get more and more decisive in dealing with what they perceive as abuse. I wouldn't be surprised if they eventaully deal with this type of situation by either making everyone in the party buy a mug if one person does, or by just cancelling the program entirely.

I do just buy one mug and share. DH shares it with the kids. Like I said, we're not squimish about sharing drinks. Your germs are my germs... that sort of thing.

Some people don't like sharing and if the people in the party are big soda/coffee drinkers I can see getting each person their own mugs. We just don't use it enough to justify each person getting their own mug.

Oh, BTW... I'll have you know that when we split stay, I use the 1st resort mug and fill it with water, just in case anyone is checking up on me, while DH and the kids use the 2nd resort mug. ;)
