The Mr. the Mrs. and the Dining Plan–Our June 09 Disneymoon -**Naples 4/3/2010**

How fun to just relax and explore WS. What a fun day, especially to go with just that in mind after a slow moving morning.

we rarely make it thru all the countries in the summer heat, so i am quite impressed with all your stops. pick a pearl does look like a lot of fun. i think i might let my daughter do it this trip. on ebay they sell this cute cinderella coach to hold the pearl , i really want to get it. everytime we have met mulan and mushu it has been with a short line and they are always some of the sweetest characters, spending so much time with the kids. and i love those puppets too. i keep thinking i should get one....i am a preschool teacher and that would be a good school supply dont you think?;)
It was incredibly hot that day, but I am so glad we took the time to visit each country!
I think one of those puppets would be a great addition to your preschool classroom! I am a teacher too, but for older 4th graders, however, I bet some of my students would get a kick out those puppets too. :rotfl: Thanks for reading!
Great pictures. I especially like the one with Winnie the Pooh and tigger. ((very cute))

My DH and I got married at the POLY back in 2001 and of course honeymooned at WDW as well. I wanted so badly to get the bride and groom Mickey ears, but alas my DH's head was just too big and the groom ears wouldn't fit him. :rotfl:

thanks for sharing your TR. :thumbsup2
I have heard that complaint about the groom mickey ears...DH was afraid he would have the same problem, but I think he stretched it out! Thank you for reading! :goodvibes
How fun to just relax and explore WS. What a fun day, especially to go with just that in mind after a slow moving morning.

I am so glad we took a day to do the World Showcase, even though we were sweating like crazy, it was still fun and would do it again in a heartbeat! :goodvibes

Great update, looks like you had alot of fun around the World. I love that about Epcot, the theming is so good :)

June 29, 2009: Day Seven, Part Two– ‘Ohana Means YUMMY!

All prettied up, we decided to take the boat from the GF to the Poly.
Waiting for our boat....

Camera891.jpg

We had a little trouble navigating from the dock to the Great Ceremonial House, I think we were just distracted by the beauty of the Polynesian.

Eventually, with the help of a friendly CM, we found ‘Ohana and checked in, we were told there would be a about 15-20 minute wait. The lobby was bustling with activity since there was a bridal party waiting to get in for their reception, how fun!

Soon, our table was ready and we were led to a lovely seat near the window.

Our server was prompt with our drink orders and explained to us how the restaurant worked, since it was our first time. We were starving, so we were looking forward to a nice big meal. Little did we know how big of a meal it was!

Soon, our server came out with our the appetizers which consisted of salad with delicious dressing, chicken wings, and dumplings of some sort! It was all very good and we gobbled it up!

Before we knew it we were on to the main course all different kinds of meat with dipping sauces were divine! As were the sides of broccoli and noodles. I swear I had never eaten so much in my life!
Camera896.jpg

Look at the size of those shrimp!!

While we were enjoying our dinner we had fun watching the kids play the different games and enjoyed the live music. At one point, they asked people who were celebrating anniversaries and honeymoons to come up to the dance floor. The guy MCing the restaurant started playing a slow song on his guitar and singing, which happened to be our first dance song from our wedding! It was “Can’t Help Falling in Love” by Elvis. I was beyond thrilled!!! After our dance, a woman congratulated us and said she videotaped us dancing and said she would send it to us, she turned out to be from Illinois too, we gave her our address, but we still haven’t received anything. Oh well.

Back at our table, it was just about time for dessert, the server came out with the bread pudding, and it was delicious. So many times on this trip, we were so full, but then they would come out with some sort of dessert, and we just had to eat it, even though we were full.

Camera897.jpg

Obligatory dinner pic

We literally had to roll ourselves out of the restaurant. We could not believe how yummy everything was, ‘Ohana officially became our favorite WDW restaurant!

To show how much I loved it, I hugged this totem pole thingy.

Camera898.jpg

We lingered in the Poly for a bit in order to digest before heading back to Epcot for the evening.

Camera899.jpg

We decided it would be a good idea to walk to the TTC from the Poly rather than hop the monorail and have to make almost a full circuit. I know now that there is a nicely paved walkway from the Poly to the TTC, however, in June of 2009, I was not aware of this walkway, and therefore we walked right on the side of the street, very close to oncoming traffic and busses, I may add! We must’ve looked so lost! Regardless, we eventually made it in our lovely Hawaiian clothing to the TTC and hopped the monorail back to Epcot.

Image230.jpg

Time to ride some rides! First we headed to Soarin’, waited a bit in the FP line, but at least we were out of the heat. The entire time I was telling DH that I really wanted to sit in the front row so we could the “no feet” effect. DH said he would just ask the CM if we could wait for a front row seat. Once we got to the front, DH worked his magic, and the CM said sure! I was so happy to get to ride without seeing the feet!

We ended up sitting next to a man with his 2 daughters, one was probably about 5 and really scared and her older sister was about 7 or 8, and I could tell she was nervous, but the dad was paying attention to the five year old who was crying. I looked over at the 7 year old, who was seated next to me, and I asked her if she had ever ridden before. She said no and then asked me if it was scary. I told her it wasn’t scary, just fun, it feels like you are really flying and nothing pops out at you or anything. She seemed to settle down and so did her sister.

Soon we in the air and I looked over at the little girl, and she had the biggest smile on her face! It made me so happy to see this little girl enjoying herself! That is what WDW is all about, I cannot wait to have kids of my own so I can see WDW through their eyes. After the ride, I asked the little girl how she liked it, and she just smiled, and said it was awesome and wanted to ride again. That made me happy.

Next, we were off to Test Track. Again, it made for an interesting considering I was in a strapless dress. As always, it was a fun time! I love that one!

It was almost time for Illuminations, so we started heading over to the World Showcase, we then remembered that we had to go pick up our purchases from the UK, but we also knew that they were closing soon!

So we began walking faster, and luckily, we caught them right on time, we picked up our souvenirs, and then tried to stake out a spot for Illuminations. Our spot wasn’t took bad in the UK, we were a little blocked by the trees, but we still enjoyed it. Out of all the nighttime entertainment, Illuminations is the one we can do without, it needs more excitement, but the music is pretty & we always try to catch it anyways.

After the show, instead of following all the people towards Canada, we went in the opposite direction, towards France. There is just something so romantic and beautiful about the World Showcase at night. It was a nice leisurely stroll all the way back to the monorail station. On the way out, of course, we took some photopass pictures.

Image241.jpg

Back at the GF, we decided to go swimming, so we changed out of our Hawaiian clothes and into our bathing suits and headed down to the 24 hour pool. We found some seats and were just relaxing a bit, not quite ready to get in the pool. As we were laying there relaxing, this kid was really acting up in the pool, he kept on splashing his parents and would not get out when they told him it was time to leave. Sometimes he would get out and then when his mom’s back was turned, he would jump back into the pool. The parents threatened to leave him there a few times and started to walk away. Well, I guess this scared him and he got of the pool, but not first without spitting water out near our direction, it didn’t get us wet, which would have been disgusting, but his mom saw what he did and she grabbed him so hard and was yelling at him for bothering the nice people. If that was my kid, I would force him to apologize.

We didn’t let him ruin our night, so we went into the pool for a bit before heading up to bed for the night.

I started to get sad as I knew the next day was our final full Disney day, I didn’t even want to think about it. The silver lining, was that tomorrow we would be heading to MK, for our final park day. :sad2:

UP NEXT: Our Final Disney Day... noooooooo! :sad1::sad1::sad1:

What a lovely update. You both looked really nice in your Hawaiian garb :) Ohana's is a great meal isn't it and those pot stickers are just fab :)

I like your idea of walking towards France after the fireworks, it does sound romantic and less stressful having to manage the crowds to get to your bus stop. Epcot is beautiful at night, we had a late ADR at Teppan and WS had closed when we had finished eating, we found it really enjoyable to just walk through an empty WS back to our stop (will be aiming to try the same thing again this year and maybe catch the Burn Off too).

Can't believe your updates are nearly over, its been so much fun reading through with you.

Also, I kept meaning to say to you (but not sure of board etiquette), but you should come and check out my PTR for this year, would love to have some tips from you etc :)

Terrific update! We aren't the biggest Ohana fans, but that bread pudding is my absolute favorite dessert in Disney. Yummy!
That little boy in the pool was ridiculous :sad2: The way people don't discipline their children is just inexcusable.
Last Disney days are the worst! Always sad.

What an awesome update! I loved your pretty dress and your hubby looked handsome!! Glad you enjoyed Ohana's!!! I feel the same way...its just so much yummy food! Good idea to stay on the pathways...lol! Epcot looked like fun at night...so romantic! Sorry about your last day coming up...its always so sad! :sad1:

Thank for your always lovely comments. Did you see, I subscribed to your Pre TR, thanks for bringing it to my attention, I love reading other people's plans!! :goodvibes Hopefully when I am done with this one, I will start a Pre TR for our upcoming trip!

June 30, 2009: Day Eight, Part One– A Gloomy MK Morning

It was early EMH at the MK, however, we decided against and were able to sleep a little longer. Eventually, we made our way down to concierge for breakfast and then to the monorail station.

The sky was overcast, and it didn’t look like it was going to be one of those 10 minute storms we had had all this trip. We walked into the Magic Kingdom and decided to get some photopass pictures on our final day, afterall, the Photopass was already preordered and paid for, so we needed to get our money’s worth, which I think we did!

Image245.jpg

Look at that sky!! Fits my sad and gloomy mood. :sad2:

Image247.jpg

Image251.jpg

Image252.jpg

Our goal today was to take it easy and just enjoy the Magic Kingdom. We didn’t really have a plan, but to ride our favorite rides and take in the sights and sounds.

First, we got a Fastpass for Splash Mountain and then we went to ride Pirates. It seems this is what we do every time we visit MK. By the time we came out from Pirates, it had begun raining, and we noticed the line for Pirates had become a whole lot longer too. We hopped in the Enchanted Tiki Room line. I know a lot of people don’t like Iago and Zazu, but it is the only way I know the Tiki room, because I don’t remember it as the original. It is always fun to sing along.

Well, after Tiki Room, we wanted to go use our Splash Mountain FPs, however, it was closed because of lightning. Instead, we grabbed some FPs for Thunder Mountain, which we could hopefully use.

The rain was starting to let up, or so it seemed, we started wandering around near Liberty Square, where we heard the buzz...The Hall of President’s was set to open for a soft opening today. It wasn’t supposed to officially open until July 3 or July 4, so we took the opportunity to check it out with the newest addition, President Obama.

Waiting for the doors to open
Camera901.jpg

Camera900.jpg

Camera902.jpg

I couldn’t believe how big the theater was, this was my first time ever visiting this attraction. I really enjoy American history, so I was surprised I had never seen this before.

As we were waiting for the show, we started talking with a family next to us, who happened to live in DH’s hometown that he lived in before we got married. The funny thing was, DH believed he looked familiar, like a friend from school’s dad or something. It was fun talking with them and made the time go faster!

Before the show began, they made it very clear that NO photos or video were to be taken. They meant business, I guess they didn’t President Obama revealed until after it officially opened.

The show was awesome! I cannot believe how great the animatronics are. I could see people skipping this if they have small kids, but if you want a good educational show, this one is great. I really enjoyed it!

Camera903.jpg

Next, we decided to grab a bite to eat for lunch, even though it was only about 11:00 AM. Wanting something different than Cosmic Rays, we ended up eating at the Diamond Horseshoe, which is apparently, not always open for business. DH had the meatball sub and I had the BBQ turkey sandwich. Both were tasty and hit the spot! After lunch, the rain started to pick up again, so we rode Haunted Mansion, which had about a 25 minute wait posted.

We never get tired of the Haunted Mansion. The rain had not let up by this point, so we knew Splash Mountain and Thunder Mountain would not be up and running just yet. We walked over to Buzz Lightyear and got FPs for that, now we were just collecting our Fast Passes.

By this point, we were soaked and so were my shoes and socks. We decided to do some shopping on Main Street, where I bought my Mickey Crocs (the sandal kind) because my shoes were so soaked. We bought a few other items for DH’s family. We were hoping the rain would stop for a bit, but it just kept on coming down, and it didn’t look like it would stop.

DH and I decided to go back to the room for some rest and then come back to the MK for dinner and an evening of hopefully some rides, afterall, we had the fast passes available! I was kind of sad to be leaving MK so early in the day, it was about 12:30, but we were just so miserable and wet, it seemed like the best thing to do.

We decided to take the monorail back to the GF, but we first stopped at the Contemporary first so I could buy the Disney cookbook I spotted a few days ago and couldn’t find in the parks. I also got the cutest chip and dip bowl in the shape of Mickey’s head! Shopping always brightens my mood a bit!

We hopped back on the monorail and then made it back to the GF. It was still pouring out! DH and I ended up taking a nap for about 3 hours, the entire week had definitely caught up to us!

We woke up at about 4:30, and our ADR for Tony’s Town Square was at 5:30. Good thing we were only a monorail ride away!

Up Next: Find out if it finally stopped raining and if our final Disney day got any better!

Oh no! That sky does look gloomy!

I hope it got better for your last dinner :)

Oh gosh that sucks that it was raining on your last day, but Disney must have been sad you guys were leaving so it was showing its mood :teeth:

What a storm!!! So glad you got in what you did and a nap was a great idea!!! You guys really had a busy week!!! I will have to try the "new" Hall of Presidents...I've never been in there either. :thumbsup2

:sad2: Not how I pictured the last day, but you will soon see how our evening shaped up.

Hehe, I never thought of it that way! I like it! :thumbsup2

You must try the Hall of Presidents--and if you don't like it, just take a nap in the nice cool air conditioning! :lmao:

June 30, 2009: Day Eight, Part Two– Rain, Rain Go Away!

The first thing we did after our nice nap was look outside to see if the rain had let up. Unfortunately, it still looked incredibly gloomy, but we had an ADR to get to and plenty of indoor attractions to hit up at the MK.

I decided to wear my new Mickey shirt that I had bought at Downtown Disney earlier in the week. We got changed and ready to go and before we left for the monorail, DH took this picture of me...telling me that it looked like Mickey Mouse threw up on me. :lmao:

Camera904.jpg

As you can see I am sporting my Mickey t-shirt, my new Mickey crocs, my bridal ears, and my Mickey poncho. Only in Disney, would this look normal.

We headed to the monorail and soon we were back at my happiest place in the world, even if it was raining!!

We walked over to Tony’s to check in, but first, found this guy sitting all alone.

Camera905.jpg

The restaurant was packed with people, but luckily we didn’t have to wait too long.

We were soon seated in a nice secluded little corner with two other tables which had some interesting conversations going on.
Camera906.jpg

Camera907.jpg

While we were waiting for our server, there was a family from New York sitting near us. They had about three boys and the dad was pushing them to clean their plates and they didn’t want to. They were so loud!! He kept saying that Mickey was never going to allow them back into his house and making them even more upset. The wife tried telling the husband to quiet down because people were on their honeymoon (obviously referring to us). He then proceeded to tell us that this what we had to look forward to in the future. Oh my goodness! Good thing, they received their bill, and soon left!

Our server arrived and took our orders. I got the chicken parmesan and DH got the NY Strip Steak. While we were waiting for our food, we were graced with another lovely conversation next to our table. This time there was a couple who were having a date night during their vacation. The entire time the wife was complaining about the husband’s mother, who was on vacation with them, and watching their kids. She just kept going on about how horrible his mother is, and blah blah blah! The husband didn’t even do anything, he just kept looking down at his meal and nodding his head. I felt so bad for him since he had to listen to his mother getting bashed by his wife during their entire meal! It made me so happy that I get along with my MIL!

Finally, our food came so we could ignore the annoying lady.

Camera913.jpg

Camera912.jpg

Everything was very good, and we had no problem gobbling it up!

I do not know what we got for dessert, but here are some pictures of it! It was also good!
Camera915.jpg

Camera916.jpg

We were waiting for our server to return with our bill when another couple who was sitting near us came up to us. They were elderly and told us congratulations. They said they had been coming to Disney since they got married some 40 years or so! They were so sweet and definitely made up for two other lovely families were seated near.

Our server returned with the bill, and....
Camera918Copy.jpg

I just love those certificates! She also offered to take our picture.

Camera919.jpg

We were nice and full now and when we went outside, we noticed, the RAIN HAD STOPPED!!! :woohoo:

Photopass time!

continued in next post...

We next used our FP for Thunder Mountain, since it was now open for business!

After Thunder Mountain, we headed back to Haunted Mansion. First, I always wanted to get a picture with this!

Camera924.jpg

Camera925.jpg

Camera927.jpg

Camera928.jpg

I can’t even count how many times we rode Haunted Mansion on this trip!

We then made our way through Fantasyland and into Tomorrowland. We rode Buzz with our Fast Passes. No surprise that I lost.

Camera929.jpg

After Buzz, we walked around Tomorrowland and went to check out the construction near Space Mountain.

Camera931.jpg
Crying because it is closed!

Crying even harder because TTA was closed!
Camera930.jpg

We then decided to see the Laugh Floor show since we hadn’t been on it yet.

As we were weaving through, a CM stopped us to congratulate us. He then said he has a question for us, and if we answer correctly, he would have a Disney surprise for us. He now had my attention. He asked DH, “When does the Honeymoon end?” In my head I am thinking, tomorrow since we are leaving Disney. BUT, DH being the smart and wonderful man he is, says, “Never.” The CM told him that is the correct answer, boy was I glad he didn’t ask me! He then gave us two anytime Fast Passes to use in the evening.

We made our way into the Laugh Floor queue and I took some pictures.

Camera932.jpg

Camera933.jpg

We started to file into the show and then they started showing people on the screen. When we looked up, we noticed DH was on the screen and the caption under his face said, “Has the urge to get up and dance.” Now let me tell you, DH Does not, and I mean, DOES NOT dance! He wouldn’t do it!! So they took the camera off of him, but soon it was back on him and people were cheering him on. Well, he didn’t stand up, but he did do a little jig in his seat. I was laughing so hard, but I could tell he was embarrassed! People even came up to him after the show to tell him that he was a good sport.

After Laugh Floor, we wanted to ride Pirates, so we trekked over to Adventureland. Stopping by the castle to take more pictures along the way.

Image288.jpg

Image291.jpg

Image292.jpg

Image294.jpg

Before we had our pictures taken, a couple who were wearing Just Engaged pins were getting theirs done. We congratulated them as we reminisced about our Disney engagement!
Image301.jpg

With pictures taken, we headed to Pirates to ride it once again! Just like Haunted Mansion, I cannot even tell you how many times we rode Pirates on this trip!

After our lovely swash-buckling cruise through the Caribbean, we wanted a Dole Whip Float.

Camera934.jpg

We enjoyed our Float and discussed our plan. I wanted to see Wishes on our last evening and ride Dumbo. DH wanted to ride Splash Mountain and Buzz one last time. We decided that since we were near Splash Mountain, we would ride that one first with our Anytime FP.

Since I sat wet clothing from the rain for most of the day, I decided to be one of those people who wears a poncho on a water ride. DH made fun of me since I always make fun of the people who do that, but I just couldn’t bear to be sitting in wet clothes again! It was a good thing I had that poncho on because we were seated front row and we got drenched!!! DH was completely soaked, but we had so much riding Splash at night while hearing Spectromagic going on in the background!

continued in next post..

We now headed to the castle to get a spot for Wishes. It was packed! We were able to find a seat in front of the castle, but we were packed like sardines. While we were sitting, these people thought it would be okay to stand right in front of us and the many other people who were considerate enough to sit down so everyone could see. A lady behind us, told the people they had to move because they were blocking everyone’s view. They were not happy to move, but oh well, eventually they got the hint. Soon, my absolute favorite show started and soon I was in complete tears! I knew the amazing vacation was coming to an end! I just hate the last Disney night. I just didn’t want it to ever end, it just all seemed to go by so fast. I feel bad for DH because this happens every time on our last night, he always tells me that we will be back before we know it.

Once I composed myself again, we had a mission, and that mission was an elephant with giant ears.

We fought through the crowds and made it to Dumbo. The wait was of course long, but we hadn’t ridden Dumbo yet on this trip.

We struck conversation with a very young couple in line, who had no idea how Fastpasses work, we explained it to them, but they thought it was only for people who stayed on property, like EMH. We enlightened them with the truth, and they were so happy.

Finally, we made it on Dumbo!

Attempting to take the picture ourselves...

Camera939.jpg

The ride CM saw how much trouble we were having, so she offered to take our picture for us.

Camera940.jpg

I love that one!!

Soon, we were up and flying high above Fantasyland. Once we were off of Dumbo, we had about 5 minutes before closing, and DH really wanted to ride Buzz, I was convinced we wouldn’t make it, DH thought otherwise. We walked very quickly to Buzz and low and behold, we made it!

Again, I lost. I will never get how to maneuver those blasters!!

Camera944.jpg

And with that, the Magic Kingdom closed for the evening. We slowly made our way down Main Street for the final time on our Honeymoon, stopping to take pictures from the photopass photogs along the way.

Image306.jpg

Image311.jpg

Image315-1.jpg

Camera947.jpg

We walked through some of the Main Street shops to prolong our vacation a little longer. Soon, there weren’t many people in the Magic Kingdom any longer, and we hoped that we didn’t miss the ferry to the GF since they stop running those earlier than the monorail.

Camera949.jpg

Camera948.jpg

Saying goodbye to the MK, see you next year!

By this time, I was nearly in tears again. We walked over to the ferries and noticed the captain was there, we asked him if he was still taking riders, he said he would for us since it was our honeymoon. There was no one else on the boat, so we had it all to ourselves.

The captain, whose name was Julio, was saying how lucky we were to have our very own romantic cruise. He offered to take our picture so we could show everyone at home who think that Disney is just a bunch of sweaty people packed into lines.

Camera950.jpg

Camera952.jpg

He then took us to the GF and was so friendly talking with us about our trip. When we docked at the GF, he asked if we wanted our picture in the front of the boat. We didn’t pass on this opportunity!!

Camera953.jpg

We were so impressed with the service we received on this evening that I even wrote to Disney when we got home, telling them about how Julio made our night so memorable!

He could have turned us away at the dock and made us take the monorail, he could have agreed to take us, but not interact with us at all, but he chose to make the night a night we would remember. It is those little things that keep us coming back to Disney year after year. You just don’t get those experiences anywhere else. I received an email back from Disney saying that Julio will be notified of our message, and I hope that he was! He was truly amazing!

What started off as a rainy, gloomy day, turned out to be one of the best of the trip. We walked up to our room and started to pack our bags because as we know all good things must come to an end.

We woke up the next morning with that feeling of dread...departure day. We were headed to Naples for five nights of fun in the sun and true relaxation, but I was not ready to leave yet. We decided to do some laundry, hit up the concierge lobby for some breakfast, and then Gasparillas to use up our snack credits, we still had so many left! We ended up buying microwavable popcorn, poptarts, cookies, and other treats that we could use while at the beach. We then called bell services to get all of our bags and they soon arrived. They put all of our things on the golf cart thing and rode us to our car. We had another load of laundry still in the dryer and the CM even drove us back to the laundry room to get our things and then drove us back to our car so we didn’t have to walk. He was another great CM!! We had so many on this trip, and they helped to make it such a great honeymoon. As we were driving out to the parking lot, it looked like the fire alarms went off in the main building of the GF and everyone was outside, we were glad we had missed all that fun! The CM said it was probably something in the kitchen.

We made it back to the parking lot as we loaded the last of our clothes into the car and said our goodbyes, the CM said he hoped we would return to the GF one day, and we said we would hope to one day because we had such a wonderful time. DH tipped the CM for his service because he was so nice to bring us back and forth. We got in the car and started to leave Disney property, I of course, waved to everything as we were leaving, but I knew we would be back soon enough to make more wonderful memories together as husband and wife!

Thank you for everyone who has been following along! Be sure to stay tuned for our new TR after we get back in May!! Only 31 Days!!!!!:banana::banana:

I loved your report and love so many of the last night pictures in front of the castle. The last night in Disney makes me still cry...as do I cry the last day, even with three kids in tow (normally the girls cry too). Enjoy the WL and I will be anxious to hear about this trip.
The boat driver is what makes disney magic so great... CM that go out of their way... I keep going back for those little moments of magic too.

What a great TR!! Thanks for sharing with us all of your great times! I can't wait to read all about your next trip. :goodvibes

The last day is always SO sad but it sounds like yours was as good as it possibly could be! :lovestruc
