The most ridiculous suggestion....

There is some very awful food at WDW but there is some very fantastic food as well. It's just like anywhere else. You seem to be on the right track with planning ahead so definitely indulge while you are there, no matter what your friend says.

I wouldn't go so far as to say she's not a true Disney fan though just because there are certain things in WDW that she doesn't like or partake in. She's just a different kind of fan/person than you are and, therefore, you shouldn't take her advice. Smiling and nodding politely always works!

As for the Tiki Room, I love it! I think it's quite funny and enjoy the music and think it lasts just the right length of time.

Oh nooooooo :rotfl2:

THIS is definently NOT my friend. :) She is always getting at me for wearing "cheap clothes". See I shop a lot at thrift stores and love it. One day I was at her house and I had on a cute cartigan sweater with a monogram. She said "what does DWR stand for.... oh wait... thats not your sweater is it?" I giggled and said no it was a find. She started telling me about how I should treat myself to nice things and there was nothing wrong with nice clothes and nice jewelry (I don't wear a lot). I nicely explained that that was her way of treating herself. We both treat ourselves with nice make-up and such but I also get mani/pedis, and massages, and love my shoes fetish. Besides... the bargain hunting is the fun part. She smiled like I didn't get it. Dude.... I could never spend the money she does on her clothes. Most of which are "dryclean only" which I also don't get. Annnnd she spends a ton on her hair. I also can't do that.

Wow, yeah maybe it's time to find a new friend (one not so materialistic). Nothing is wrong with buying something nice every once in awhile- or feeling comfortable in "dryclean only" clothes.... but somewhere it has to stop and she has to realize the more important things in life. Sounds as if she forgot that one day she'll die and all these things she bought and wasted her life on weren't important. :sad2:

Sounds to me your friend is definately not feeling the pixie dust. I agree with someone (I forgot who said it) that it can be quite expensive to eat in the parks but isn't that what you go for on vacation. I love It's a Small World and some people hate it. The last time we were there in 2004 it was closed and I almost cried. That was also the first time I saw the Tiki room which I though was cute. I have not been to Disneyland so I can't compare.

Hey, my kids and I LOVE the Tiki Room at WDW! But, we have never been to DL so I can't compare the two....

Good for you for not letting her steal your pixie dust! You go and enjoy the rides and the FOOD, girlfriend. I love eating at the Disney restaurants (that's half the fun of the whole trip!) and have learned so much on the Restaurant Board here. Going to try a bunch of new places next trip!!

Glad you had the sense to look here for answers. Believe me...you'll definitely get all sides answering. Good and bad. :lmao:

Me to, where to eat and where's the bathroom:) Eat the food, and enjoy every moment because you can't replay it every again, unless you video it:)

We love the Tiki Room also. It's a great attraction to go into in the middle of a really HOT day - the a/c in there is top-notch!:cool1:

Maybe your friend just does not get the idea of Disney. You should just do what you want. She and her family are the once missing out on everything. You should not let her change your mind of how you want to have your trip.
Just go and have fun.

That is why my DW and I vacation at WDW by ourselves. We love everything at WDW and do not want anyone dampening our vacation or slowing us down. People like that annoy me. They think they now all the inside tricks or the best tips, but all they are doing is shooting things down and just making things less enjoyable for those around them. And there are A LOT of people like that. They treat a trip to WDW as a task or a chore they have to get through instead of enjoying the WDW magic. Sad,:sad2:

Don't you hate that! I have a neighbor, who no matter what I say we did or are going to do on our next trip, her response is, "oh, I'd never do that again" or "that's just a waste of time", or "we didn't really care for that". Even if it's something that she raved about on her last trip! Drives me crazy!

Yes it is the same one who paid $28.00 for a bottle of water. I don't feel so sorry for her anymore!
