DH and I just returned from a WONDERFUL 8 day trip. I will post the other days, but the most magical day I just had to post now.
January 15, day 6 in our wonderful trip.
It's one of those days that starts out good with simple stuff, and just keeps on getting better. (Great bus transportation, low crowds, sunny sky...)
DH & I arrive at MK and meander around. We were chatting with various CM's and looking at their pin lanyards. We had chatted awhile with one very personable CM who mentioned he would like us to be the grand marshals for that day's snowglobe parade! See -- it REALLY pays to be a pin trader and SPEAK to the CM's. Not just ask what they have that you may want.
DH wanted to see the parade -- little did he know he would be in it!
Walk on fun to the rides and attractions all day. Great weather.
Early aftenoon, we went to Scoop's pin seminar. He mentioned he had a new limited Scoop pin. (For someone who has a lot of pins, I don't know a lot. I didn't know Scoop had his own pin.)
Scoop's pin seminars are at Expo Hall in MK and are fun, entertaining and informative if you haven't had a chance to see one. Plus you may get a free name pin.
Unless your name is Blaine or Barbara --
. He didn't have our names.
And then PARADE time! We met the CM who enlisted us and another family (mother; father; 3 DD's.) We all had Hand Waving and Smiling 101 by Splash Mountain and practiced our new (but brief) career on the train as it went by. (The other family was from KY.)
Blaine and I rode in the first parade car, in the backseat of a 4 passenger electric car that Walt use to ride in!
And the icing on the cake -- SCOOP was in the FRONT seat of our car! He really got the crowd going, ran and danced in the street, and had them rally for the Barnhill's of Omaha, Nebraska! (And the crowd was wondering, Who the heck are they!? )
The parade route was just 1.2 miles and goes much faster when you are in it than sitting there waiting for it!
We are in LOTS of photos and videos that will be memories to so many around the world. What an honor!
Being a parade marshal was a major high point. I think 'How could this get any better?'
It did -- Scoop presented me with one of his LE pins, signed and dated, to Barb and Blaine.
What a day in the MK!
That night I was thinking if there is a knock on my door and I open it and Mickey is there to tuck me in, then I KNOW it's all been a dream!
And I also got to meet another pin friend face to face. We have e-mailed, but we got to meet finally.
All the pin friends I have met at WDW have just been the greatest people on earth, You couldn't find any better anywhere.
It makes me realize how fortunate I have been in this hobby.
There is a lot more to pin trading than pins, as any trader wlll tell you. It's a great family hobby.
The day didn't end there. We went to HoB for dinner. (Very good.) And then went to view Illuminations (again)
.
What a truly magical day! I felt like the Travel Channel or Disney was following us, making a travel promo showing what magic is at WDW!
