The Most Expensive Free Trip Ever - TR Link is Up! Pg. 164

ah the trouble we can get into when we relook!

I've been analyzing the Universal part of our trip all week! Thank heavens its mid winter break and I don't have a job. I need all this wrapped up so I don't have to think about a thing once I am gainfully employed!

It sounds good though and that the time invested paid off. Congrats to Judy on the job, that's wonderful. Bummer about Hawaii but somehow I am sure you will have fabulous vacations with, or without PChef, whatever it is that makes Judy the happiest is what she should do :thumbsup2

She really wants to teach. She was told yesterday that they have interviewed at least one other person, so it's not exactly "in-the-bag" that she'll get it. She'll be observed in a couple of classes today and have an interview after school. She's very nervous. Please keep her in your prayers today.

hmmm....I guess that makes me the poop-meister?

See?? I wasn't even a part of that!! I get such a bad rap! :lmao:

And my NOT being a part of that, must make you POOP MEISTER!!!!!!
:lmao::rotfl2::lmao:

I think I was part of it...

That's one of the great things about these boards....if one person takes a break from their "duties", another steps in.

Flights! That is something I will have to deal with for my January trip. We've driven for all three of our previous Disney trips so I'll be needing the expertise of my Dis friends to find the best deals. :thumbsup2

Congrats to Judy on the possible job offer. I hope they don't give her any issue with taking the time after June 11th.

With the flow of that conversation, I'm surprised you didn't spell that "doodies". :confused3:rotfl2:

(someone had to say it)

Get ready for airfare roulette. Should I book, should I wait? Do you have an airline preference? We checked around and settled on Southwest, so I just watched their fares on their website. We can fly out of either Philly or Baltimore, I'd prefer Philly, but Baltimore was way cheaper so that's what we're doing.

Oh that's definitely what I meant, that's why I put it in quotes. "Step in" was also intentional, to see if anybody had a line about stepping in it. Nobody bit on that one.

Southwest is one of my favorites. They have the funniest flight attendants. :thumbsup2

I love BWI. We lived close to it for many years and are very familiar with it. But, I'm sure it's more of a drive for you.

They do! Which I love, but not enough to necessarily pick them over another airline. Now the price, as they say, the price is right.

We had a great flight attendant on Southwest when we flew to Ft. Lauderdale a couple of years ago to go on a cruise. It was the kids' first flight (well, actually Lauren had flown as a little tyke, but she didn't remember it) and Marlene was petrified. The steward saw that she was scared and let her hold his Southwest pin during takeoff. Then, mid-flight had her come up to the front of the plane and announced to the passengers that she was the "Queen of the flight". He gave her a crown made out of peanut bags and a scepter, although I don't remember what it was made out of, and a Southwest blanket for a robe, that she got to keep. It definitely made a huge difference and I can't imagine any other airline doing something like that.

Can you recommend any long-term parking vendors? Any that can be reserved ahead of time online?

Awwww - what a really sweet thing to do. :goodvibes They just seem to really enjoy their jobs. And I agree - it's all about the price. :thumbsup2

I'm afraid the only time we ever did long-term parking we just used the airport's lot. Have you thought about staying in a hotel the night before you fly out and parking there? I know there are lots of hotels that will allow you to do that. Not sure it would be cheaper or not.

That is a very interesting idea that had not occurred to me. Hmmm, I'll have to look into that! My daughters would definitely prefer that to having to wake up at oh-dark thirty.

:rotfl: I know my in-laws did it before, but not sure which hotel. There are so many hotels right there near the airport and they all offer shuttle service to and from the airport.

Glenn, that's awesome for Judy! Sending some prayers and pixie dust your way right now. I'm hoping there won't be any issues with the June 11th thing. Maybe it'd be best not to mention that until AFTER the job offer!;)

I can't hear doody without thinking of Caddyshack. Anyone else?:lmao:

You've got great timing....she was interviewing while you posted that.

I just heard from her and it went well.

I'm picturing Bill Murray sniffing the candy bar and eating it. "It's okay."

That's the coolest story of the flight attendant making her feel special like that!! Seems that kind of thing is so quickly disappearing these days. :sad2:

I'm about the pull the trigger on my flight too. Wish me luck!!

We almost always fly SW out of BWI, and when we long term park, we always use Airport Fastpark. They usually have good online coupons airportfastpark.com. The service is excellent and the price beats the airport's by quite a bit.

Hoping that she gets the job.

Thanks. :goodvibes I think it's looking pretty good.

Okay, just read your last update....

Flight savings...:thumbsup2

Buy in.....hmmmm

I wish there were a way around it, but this thread is the "most expensive free trip ever".

I see your title now says something about "pulling the trigger on troop transport", so it sounds like the shot has been heard around the world. I'll have to go over and check it out.

I was wondering if there was someplace we could reserve online ahead of time, so thanks for that link. Out of Philly I usually use fasttrack parking, so I'll also see if they have a BWI lot too.
