The Most Expensive Free Trip Ever - TR Link is Up! Pg. 164

Great update and pics. We never did a SWW but then again I have girls and don't think they would care.

It took me a bit of squinting to make out the writing on the shirts - at first I thought it said something about being Polish. :confused3 But that wouldn't make any sense, I guess.

 Yeah, I can see how Marlene's kind of looks like it says "Polish", but they say "When You Wish". It's that darned bad handwriting of Walt's. (just kidding people.) We always get a shirt from PChef on these trips, and they always have one particular day when they ask everybody to wear theirs. As the day wore on we had more and more people asking us what the shirts were all about because they had seen so many of them. After I posted that installment I thought I probably should have mentioned something about the shirts, so thanks for giving me an opportunity to do so!

So, bummer about the whole ticket deal. At least you're resigned to it. I'd be pretty frustrated still.

I'm tempted to take some matches and just burn the tickets in front of the ticket people when they tell me they can't be used any other time, transferred, or used to discount the purchase of other tickets. I'd probably get arrested for arson, so I won't do it....but it'd be tempting just to see the look on their faces.

We have an ADR for 'Ohana our last night so we can get some resort time and pack up. The Star Wars pics are great! I have some similar ones from '07. We will be doing SWW our first day as it is a must for us fans. My DS(8) is a big fan so we will be spending about 10 hours in the park. :faint:

Good idea not to travel too far from your resort on the last night.

You sound like you may have done a little more research into this year's SWW than I have. I saw that a couple of the actors who are going to appear are the guys who played Chewbacca and Darth Maul. Do you know if they've announced what weekends that they'll will be appearing?

Ugh I hear you on the tickets. I find myself in a similar mess rather unexpectedly with no clear way out. I share your madness right now. Honestly I would bet money that they are NOT transferable but that's just me being cranky.

I confess I haven't looked in on your PTR for a day or two -- is your predicament discussed there? I'll head over in a bit. Either way, sorry to hear that you're in a fix too. And regarding being cranky, see my comment to Sleepingbooty about being tempted to take some matches along. I won't, I won't, but as Marvin the Martian once said, "Oooo that makes me so angry!"

I'd be happy to share my feelings on the big green dot. I can wax away on the moral aspect of instant coffee as it pertains to core values.

:rotfl:

Not sure what the best forum would be either though lol!

It would not be a bash session though, I'll say that upfront for all. I had a great ride but it was time to move on. I miss the way it was. Something pretty important got lost along the way and I hope someday they can find it again. It makes me sad.

Enough of that (for today)

I'll admit though, it's not what I buy anymore. The fact that it's no longer free has as much to do with it as anything.

:rotfl2:

Good to hear that it wouldn't be a bash session.

Yeah, those things are not free, and are not even inexpensive, to the average joe seeking a cup of joe. I'd love to get a latte-ccino-vente something or other, but I can't justify the expense very often.

You're probably right, although you never know for sure.

Nah, I'm too crabby and depressed to talk about it yet. Playing ostrich. I'm crabby on multiple levels though (some thanks to CRO and some thanks to Bridezilla) so perhaps I'm blowing that particular mess out of proportion.

I don't think so though.

It may resolve itself.

When pigs fly.

I did post an update just now though.

I'm actually talking about their drip or ground coffee. I only drink black coffee so it's about as cheap as you can get there but their selection has gone down (IMHO) on the ground side and there is stuff I like equally as much to brew at home. But no, not a bash session. More of a coffee standards/integrity position on the whole subject. Like I said, it's a moral issue to me.

This coffee discussion has me seriously intrigued. Really! I wish you, Cynthia, could find a way to score a convenient business trip back to DC when we're all there. Then over big plates of pasta or tacos, we can yack up the merits of staying true to your calling in coffee integrity.

Anyway, Glenn, I'll get to your update later this morning after the rounds. Longer updates need proper TLC. ;)

I do too!

Though heaven knows right now I can't keep my summer schedule straight. What are the DC meet dates again?

August 29th- for SURE! Lunch around 12:30- something in between, and dinner around 7:00. Is that right, Glenn??

I'd still rather call it MGM!

Fun update, though Queen Amidala is a bit scary looking.

I love your nickname for her, it reminds me of my BIL's name for Pocahontas...except I can't actually write that, it would get censored.

We were watching a commercial for Lion King one day, and they started singing Hakuna Matata. Anara chirps in and sings, "Queen Ameedalah".

Another time, she called her Queen Armadillo. :lmao:

Yes, intriguing is the word. And curious.

Yep, those are them.

Yeah, I thought about writing how realistic the characters were, especially Chewbacca, but then I got to Queen Amidala....and just didn't go there.

I'm sure I have the same one. ;) It induces elbow jabs from my wife.

Makes sense, sometimes her hair resembles armadillo. I love to substitute new words into songs. The other day James was singing my version of Cyndi Lauper's "Girls just wanna have fun", which goes "digest an iguana, digest an iguana-a-a".

The guests will be:

June 4-6, 2010- Billy Dee Williams, Ray Park, Dave Filoni (Director of Star Wars the Clone Wars)
June 11-13, 2010- Ray Park, Peter Mayhew, James Arnold Taylor (Voice actor for Obi-Wan Kenobi Clone Wars)

Thanks for posting this info!

We'll be there for that last weekend. I'd like to get autographs from Ray Park (Darth Maul) and Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca). :chewy: That could be good!

:welcome: pintamino :yay: I wish there was a nittany lion smiley.

You got here just in time for the good part, where I sing the fight song.

<sung melodically>
Fight on State
Fight on State
Strike your gait and win,
Victory we predict for thee
Ever true to you, dear old White and Blue
Fight on State
Fight on State
Roar, Lions roar
We'll hit that line, roll up the score
Fight on to vic'try ever more <sorry, my voice cracked on the high note>
Fight on, on, on, on, on, Fight on, on, Penn State!

So....what're you studying? You are studying aren't you?

Journalism with a minor in communication arts and sciences (specifically persuasion/group interaction) :)

You sing it better than I do! My parents ask me to stop :confused3

I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival of my Spring 2010 grades so I can find out if my mom will take me to disney or not.... :rolleyes1

Wow, that sounds like a pretty daunting major. That's my opinion, and you can't convince me otherwise. :snooty:

I must confess that I googled the words. I know them through "roar, lions roar", but after that I usually just sing "da da da da da da da da da da, da da da da da da da daaaaaa".

Here's hoping

...and a little pixie dust for good measure. pixiedust:

Queen Amidala (who I call “Queen You-owe-me-a-dallah”)
LOL! We know her as Queen Amygdala!

After LMA! we walked around some more and happened upon R2D2 and C3PO. You can see that James turns into a different kid when he gets a light saber in his hands.

:rotfl:BEST PIC EVER! LOL! What ever happened to that sweet little kid he once was? He really transforms with a sword in his hands!

Glad you liked it Trib! My favorite picture from this batch though, is where he's handing Darth Vader his autograph book. I didn't know his arms were that long!

Glad we could be of some service. Hey Jen -- your trip is closer than it appears!

My plan is still basically the Master Plan from way back in this post. Have you compared it to your plan to see if we'll cross paths at any point?

I looked at it again - we might cross paths a few times, actually. Assuming our drive goes well and we get into CBR when we're expecting to, we're headed to DTD on Saturday evening as well. Sunday we're in DHS all day for the SWW festivities (I might have to head back for nap with the little guy at some point, but the rest of them are determined to make it to Hyperspace Hoopla) and we'll miss you at Sci-Fi by about three hours. Monday morning we'll be in Epcot, and there's a chance we'll be hitting AK Tuesday after lunch. Kinda depends on how the little guy holds up. (How crowded do you think it'll be, if the PChef folks are there?) We'll most likely spend as much of the day as possible on Saturday in MK, as well. So we just might cross paths. Just look for a big bunch of goobers in matching t-shirts. ;) Not every day, but we do have several graphic designers (or wannabes) in our 16-person group, so we ended up with a few designs...it was a bit inevitable.

Oh wow, definitely looks like Sunday and Monday we might cross paths.

Is Hyperspace Hoopla where the characters dance to music? Do you know when that is supposed to happen?

Are you asking about crowds specifically at AK on Tuesday? The PChef event will actually be "exclusive", after the park is closed at 6pm. (Well la-dee-da, as I read on jenbear's thread. :rotfl2:) I imagine most PChef people will go elsewhere during the day that day, since they'll be there that night. So it might be a good day to go there, except for the fact that it closes a little early.

I will definitely look for matching shirts!

Yep, Hyperspace Hoopla is where they all dance. My two oldest have the whole routine from last year memorized thanks to YouTube. From what I understand, it's at 7...but that's been in the past. I need to look it up on the DIS.

Ok - I was thinking that you guys were going to be there during regular park hours. I didn't realize AK closed at 6 that day...I'd say that, unless the 2 yr. old doesn't need a nap, we probably won't end up there. Hmmm...maybe I ought to go actually WRITE DOWN the park times... I think that might be our laundry night...:laundy:. I'll also have to do some classwork :sad2:, I'm sure, so that might be a good night to do it. We have a 12:05 ADR at Liberty Tree Tavern that morning (it's EMH at MK), so we'll be there until at least 1:00. I have no idea at this point how much time will be taken up with trying to get 16 people to sit down and eat at the same time!

We'll keep an eye out for you guys, too. We've actually talked with some other people about having a mini-meet one evening. If we do, I'll let you know.

Oh nuts, I have an ADR at Biergarten at 6:45. I don't really remember why I planned to switch parks....I guess I wanted to see WS at night and catch Illuminations.

Now is the time to refine those park plans, but I confess I haven't really looked at mine in a long time.

I'm confused....is your ADR at midnight?

Okay, thanks!
