The Most Amazing and Belated Solo Trip Report Ever!

IMG_2162.jpg

I like the jungle cruise. You know why? It was the first ride I ever went on at a Disney park. That I can remember, anyway. And you know what else? They’re still saying the same jokes! I know there is a script, but whenever a cast member deviate from the script with their own material, they become my hero.

IMG_2163.jpg

Wouldn’t that be an awesome place to hang out? Wave to the boats full of fresh new explorers, fishing for some plastic piranhas, being attacked my foot long butterflies…

IMG_2164.jpg

Funny thing is, there is no such subcategory as eurydelma, but eurydema is a subcategory of stinkbugs. Yes. Stinkbugs.

IMG_2165.jpg

I wonder what that is written in.

IMG_2167.jpg

IMG_2168.jpg

Now, I love me some giant spiders (we had a giant bird eater at my old job who was a sweetheart) but I think giant butterflies would freak me out.

IMG_2169.jpg

IMG_2171.jpg

IMG_2177.jpg

Don’t worry, that zebra is just sleeping.

IMG_2178.jpg

No, that’s just how zebras sleep. On their side. Not moving.

IMG_2179.jpg

I don’t get the point. But they do, apparently.

IMG_2180.jpg

IMG_2181.jpg

Hippos actually are the most dangerous animal one can encounter on a river. But that does not stop their ears from looking adorable.

IMG_2182.jpg

Hey you, hippo on the left! I know a god dentist. We can get some reconstructive work on those canines done.

IMG_2183.jpg

IMG_2187.jpg

I don’t think I would want to be standing that close to the rear end of an elephant. Just saying.

IMG_2188.jpg

It seems I did another bit of wandering around after.

IMG_2190.jpg

As you can see, the clouds came for a visit, but they never threatened to pour on us.

IMG_2191.jpg

These guys were awesome! And that tuba is fantastic! I spent a little bit of time just chilling out by these guys, clapping along.

IMG_2192.jpg

And I love these birds! They just seem so exotic! It really helps with placing the whole vacation mood. Exotic birds.

IMG_2193.jpg

i love all the pictures. i want to go back to disney now but it will be a couple of years before we can. your report is really good. thank you for sharing your experiences.

Thank you!

I'm in the same boat as you! :hug:My next trip might be, at the earliest, in five years (Parents are considering a family WDW trip once I graduate from college). But when it comes down to it, college will always trump disney world, though if I'm lucky I may attempt working there for a summer or two in a few years.

Hi Nomi!! :wave2: I was on the boards this morning looking for my friend JOG's trip report and I came across yours. You are making it really hard to discreetly Dis at work since I haven't stopped snickering and giggling the whole time I have been reading. You crack me up! :rotfl: I will continue to follow your adventure as you make updates.

:rotfl: Oh no, I hope I'm not getting you in trouble at work! I would put a not safe for work warning on it NSFW but that would give everyone the wrong impression! :lmao:

Anyhoo, thank you!

Great trip report and pics!

I love solo trips to the World. Heading on my next one in September!

Isn't the freedom great!

What a great trip report! You took my dream vacation - solo at WDW and stayed at AK! I can't wait to read the rest. And your pictures are just awesome. Definitely subbing.

Just reading your TR! I think I should take a solo trip!! But DH would want to come along!!!:confused3

And again, I prove to be a most excellent procrastinator. You may now rain praise upon me for my most wonderful of procrastinating skills, and bask in the glow of how I don’t get things done.

In all seriousness, I apologize. While I’m waiting for my TR to move back from TR limbo, I hope to get at east a few episodes done.

We left you with a bird, a wonderful exotic bird that made me very happy. I again will show you this bird, as it does set the mood of ‘Florida’.

IMG_2194.jpg

There, now, we are all back on track! Feeling rather jovial and still high on the fumes of Disney joy, I again head for the Haunted Mansion. And begin in my strange fascination with light fixtures in the WDW parks.

This one is nice. Without the spider webs, I think it would look quite nice and would like one in my house that does not exist.

The sprinkler and speaker are less nice, but I won’t hold it against them.

IMG_2198.jpg

Oh Haunted Mansion, you are so pretty.

IMG_2199.jpg

FLOWER POT

IMG_2200.jpg

You again. I’m watching you lady. You can’t fool me, with those pretty green eyes.

IMG_2201.jpg

Another light fixture. You see? I seem to like light fixtures. Well, they are nice.

IMG_2203.jpg

IMG_2204.jpg

And so I again embark in my Doom Buggy to certain, well, doom in this most fanciful of houses.

Well, what could possibly be in this atti…. AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!

IMG_2213.jpg

I love how that photo turned out. And as a good little DISer, I did not ever use flash photography, so any photo that turns out well in a dark ride is awesome.

The lighting begins to take a subdued effect as the day wears on, bringing a new dimension to Cinderella’s Castle. Sort of pinkish?

IMG_2218.jpg

The clouds sweep over the entrance to the world of tomorrow, the light dancing upon the lagoon… well, I’m waxing a bit lyrical here, but it was a pretty sight. And boy was it inviting me to explore some more!

IMG_2219.jpg

Ah yes, I’ve come full circle. Back to Tomorrowland! As you can see, it still wasn’t all that busy.

IMG_2220.jpg

I wonder into the Monsters Inc Laugh Floor, having heard good things about it and more than willing to laugh at others expense.

I could go for some BLORT right now.

IMG_2222.jpg

IMG_2223.jpg

And here is a handy sign for all those who are not aware that the new Monsters Inc. Laugh system is superior. Laughter is power! Now we know why WDW has all those puns everywhere. They are using our Laugh Power to run the park! Obviously.

IMG_2224.jpg

The show was cute, and I had good fun laughing at other people. Yes, indeed. Buahahahaha. However, I could see how it would be less fun the 10th or 12th time one attends though.

After exiting the world of Monsters, I found myself pulled towards the very epicenter of awesome, the CREAM CHEESE PRETZLE.

Aww, now I want one. In the photo it looks as though Darkness descended at an alarming rate. I should probably mention that it was not that dark. At all.

IMG_2225.jpg

Using the power of fastpass, I again boarded the good ship fun to Space Mountain!

The one photo from this excursion on SM:

IMG_2226.jpg

Now it was getting dark outside. Which only means there are more fun times to be had! Tomorrowland really shines it’s best at night. At night WDW really feels like lands apart.

IMG_2230.jpg

IMG_2231.jpg

IMG_2233.jpg

But sadly, my first day in the parks must come to a close. But not this episode of my TR, as I had a ressie at Jinko! I followed the steady stream of people, feeling somewhat like cattle but much too excited about dinner to care.

Oh castle, you are so pretty.

IMG_2240.jpg

IMG_2241.jpg

Two or three streams of people were going down main street: Going in for the fireworks or out for dinner.

IMG_2244.jpg

Getting back to the hotel seemed to be a rather more dauting task that getting to the MK. For one, there were significantly more people. Two, the bus seemed to take so very long to get there! I think I was hungry. It was about 7:30 by the time the bus was leaving, I think. Maybe a smidge earlier.
In any case, I was there just in time for my 7:40 res at Boma. I did have to wait for about 15 mins, but that went pretty quick.

And here, my pretties, is some food p0rn. Not the prettiest, as Boma is a buffet, but it shall serve, methinks. Here we have a nice big bowl of meat stew, with potatoes and other yummies in it, as well as some cornbread for dipping. An egg/omelet/meat/corn dish I wasn’t too enamored with, and more MEAT.

IMG_2245.jpg

Pretty good, the stew was by far the best, but I didn’t get a chance to try everything. Because I was saving room for… DESSERT! Lots of good nibblies to be had, including some nice fruit (I went back and had more watermelon after. Because watermelon is great). Other than fruit, here we have some bread pudding, a lemon round thing, a coffee tort, a chocolate cake, and something else. Everything was equally yummy, though nothing stands out in my memory.

IMG_2246.jpg

IMG_2247.jpg

Afterwards, I took the time to wander the resort a bit more on my way back to my room.

IMG_2250.jpg

The fireplace outside was a very nice place to sit, with rocking chairs to boot!

IMG_2251.jpg

After that I retreated to my room, where I doodled and watched some televison, including some new show called ‘Phineas and Ferb’ that was on All. The. Time. It was kind of funny though, and was good to watch when I was sleepy.

What will Tomorrow bring, oh friends!? We will find out!
Later.

All caught up on the updates. Loving the pictures! We're trying Boma in September, but for breakfast. Can't wait!

:lmao::lmao::lmao: I love your trip report!! You have a great sence of humor.

Thank you!

Thank you! Boma really was quite good, but personally I think buffets really shine at breakfasts. Have a great time!

Ohhh I love solo trip reports. And yours is awesome so far :thumbsup2

Thank you. I love solo trip reports as well, since TR mostly about people's kids don't really apply to me.

Day Three Part One: Nomi Takes on The World (showcase)!
Or
You are all going to be so sick of flowers at the end of this.

After such a full first day at the parks, I slept like a freakin’ baby. And I woke up ready and rearing to go! Of course, waking up to this doesn’t hurt:

IMG_2256.jpg

IMG_2257.jpg

Normally, as a teenager, I like to sleep in as much as humanly possible. All of you who were once teenagers, which I suspect is at least some of you, probably can attest to this. However, I found myself getting up at sunrise every single day. I did set up a few wake up calls, but I never really needed them. But it was nice to have the added security, and they were pretty simple to set up. Like I’ve said before, Disney is user friendly.

And here is my good friend Giraffe again (he was almost always there each morning, waiting for feeding time. And if I was a giraffe, that is where I would be too.

IMG_2260.jpg

Today I had planned to spend the whole day at EPCOT, having a res there tonight. I recalled EPCOT as being a park that needs lot’s of time to be spent meandering. However, I felt no need to get there for rope drop, and decided to spend some time just hanging out at the AKL, exploring and taking pictures.

This sculpture (or at least, at first I thought it was a sculpture) is very prominent in the promenade (pun), and that was where I headed first to check out all the artifacts. The cool thing is, that this mass of color and fabric is a costume. As in, someone would wear that! Very cool.

IMG_2267.jpg

The main viewing area off of the lobby was where I was headed next. I think this turned out to be my favorite place to just hang out, at the fireplace or in the nooks and crannies watching the wildlife.

But without further ado… Pelicans!

IMG_2268.jpg

IMG_2270.jpg

Now, my older sister is terrified of pelicans. And as a good little sibling, I find this hilarious and took many pictures of them for her. :P

Not too many animals were about this morning, so I tried out the macro setting on my camera and took advantage of the great flora everywhere.

IMG_2273.jpg

IMG_2275.jpg

IMG_2278.jpg

IMG_2279.jpg

I think I’ve stated just how beautiful and well designed this resort was, but it does bear repeating. Very photographic, but it looks every bit as good in real life as well.

IMG_2280.jpg

Now was the time to check out the other common areas around the pool before breakfast. I was considering going for a swim, but didn’t. Because I didn’t feel like it. Solo trip power!

IMG_2281.jpg

As you can see, the pool was none too busy. A cast member was setting up a children’s game/activity that had to do with educating about animal diets as well, which looked pretty interesting. I didn’t get any pictures, but I chatted with the cast member for a bit before wandering away. She was more than happy to tell me all about what she was doing, and was quite nice.

There where more animals over at this viewing area, which pleased me greatly. Yes indeed.

Elands!

Breakfast time!

IMG_2292.jpg

Yes, stopping in a Mara again, for a wonderful Mickey waffle and watermelon. You simply cannot go wrong with waffles and watermelons.

Great pictures....I really need to learn to use the settings on my camera. I think I have macro, but was never sure what to use it for....
Can't wait to see more of your EPCOT day...
