Hi all,
I had sort of a dream/daydream this morning about staying at the Contemporary when it first opened in the 1970's (which wasn't a dream, I actually did). Did the monorail come through the resort on the lobby level when it first opened or has it always been upstairs? I thought I remembered eating at one of the restaurants and taking the monorail on the same level. I think I am going crazy because this would mean that the track would have to have been changed, which I assume would be quite costly. Can someone help me out here?

I need to put this to rest!!!!!!!!

I'm no expert, but I think is has always been upstairs. I say this because I just returned to CR for the first time since the 70's and as I walked to the monorail, I had this strange feeling that is was all so familiar. Your remark about a dream made me think about that hazy childhood memory.

The monorail has always been on the 5th floor, just above the Grand Canyon Concourse (4th floor) where the Concourse Steakhouse & Chef Mickey's are currently located. Although I'm not a Contemporary expert, I do beleive there has always been a restaurant where the Concourse Steakhouse is currently located. It's a perfect location to watch the Monorails whisk by.
